I came her with the intention of finding a flashy brooch and I got more than that! The absolute perfect brooch that is silver with a touch of gold and it's a rose- my signature piece. I also found a unique bolo tie for my brother in law. A perfect complement to his Blantons (other Christmas gift). I also got myself one and it's a horse- perfect for my for personal nickname reasons. Service was also attentive and very helpful. I was introduced to Juju's Vintage last month through a dear friend. I drive past this place many times along Harlem Avenue but never thought to step in until that day. Gurl was I impressed by the stock! There is plenty to go through where it can get overwhelming. I would take your time being here due to the seemingly limitless supply of fun and unique items. Their clothing and accessories are expertly curated, fun and fashionable. Most items price around the 20-30s with some items going for more or less than that. I was able to find a cute brooch, a pearl necklace, a scarf and colorful beaded bib necklace for under $100. Parking is shared within a small strip mall and you'll need to ring the doorbell for entry. The owner Jules is a doll and greeted me at the entrance. She recognized that this was my first visit and she helped me navigate through the store. She also found expert sales associates to assist in finding particular items. You are given a small plastic dish to place items in and when you're ready to get rung up, take the dish to the counter and they will bag/box your items for you. One of the best shops I've ever been to anywhere in the world. Not only are there vintage clothes but every sort of accessory from a variety of time periods and it is decorated I. The most fun and whimsical way. It's like being in Vegas when you go in- you lose track of time and spend all your money. First of all, they take your purse behind the counter when you come in. It is extremely small in there and hard to maneuver around. It is mostly cheap costume, jewelry, and tons and tons of it. Very small parking lot and easy to miss. They have to buzz you in. I would never go back. read more

Plan on spending the day! This jam-packed gem is part museum. You will see things you haven't seen for decades -- like your grandma's grandma's stuff! Staff is very helpful and encouraging to have a look around. They'll assist you in your hunt for the perfect -- ANYTHING! If they don't have it, it does not exist. They also seem to buy jewelry, but I don't know the details. I'd call ahead. They aren't just vintage - they appeal to any type of style. Must go! I have found so many treasures here- and the ladies that work here make it fun. Curated costume jewelry across multiple eras, vintage hats and clothes. I live out of town now, but find my way here when I'm back, especially around the holidays. Dressy, themed party to go to? Come here for nice costume jewelry. It's all incredibly organized and so fun to explore- I'm here about two hours every time I come. If looking for something specific, they'll help you find just the right item. My tip: pull what seems interesting and then eliminate later- you won't remember that one item when you first walked in. They give you a tray to collect your considerations, and they will put back the items you don't want. There is a range of prices, and all worth it since they've taken the trouble to curate and merchandise it all- and make it a fun experience. This is a favorite place of mine that I highly recommend. Juju's Vintage is one of the best "special find" stores in Chicago, and I recommend it often! They have an amazingly well curated collection of vintage jewelry as well as other very special things. Prices are fantastic, but shopping there is not for the faint of heart. You have to love a treasure hunt, but it's well worth it because everything is unique and one of a kind. You could easily spend hours there and not realize it! The store looks quite small from the outside. However, it is kind of like being in Dr. Who's tardis... it just keeps going. This place is my candy store. If you have any affiliation for jewelry or shiny things, then this is the place for you. There are probably at least 10,000 pieces in here and all organized in a general way. Yes the space is a little small but the ladies do a great job maximizing that space and making it not too difficult to find things. Twice I've gone here with something particular in mind and both times they delivered perfectly. They have vintage clothes, hat, kitchen & bar items, toys but the jewelry is my jam. I could spend hours looking at all of it. I've been able to find some great pieces for affordable prices - $15-20 for a necklace, $7-10 for earrings. I get tons of compliments on the one of the kind things I've gotten here. I could honestly spend hours in here and there would still be new things to look at. What's not to love?! First of all, the merchandising in here is perfection! It brings me so much joy just to walk through this store (bonus points for the oldies music and lovely window displays). The owner is incredibly stylish in her own right, and obviously has a passion for all things vintage. Also, the prices are great! I've never felt the need to haggle here. The store is about 80% vintage costume jewelry and 20% vintage clothing/accessories. The jewelry collection is so extensive, and so well organized - it's actually jaw dropping. Sections include: sterling silver; Native America jewelry (turquoise, coral, etc); costume pearls; Carmen Miranda fruit; flower jewelry; bakelite; cameos; mod; rhinestones (the classy vintage kind), the list goes on and on... They do have a few older antique pieces with real, albeit small, diamonds (mostly rings); these are under glass by the counter. An earlier review cautioned that there are some repro costume jewelry pieces in the store, this is true - and that's normally a huge pet peeve of mine - however, it's an insignificant portion of the store and it's normally in it's own section (and priced accordingly). If you like vintage fashion Jewelry this is a great place to go. Prices are not cheap, no flea market finds here. But they have a very good selection of Jewelry and chotchkes if you are looking for smaller items. In the back they also have old clothes, shoes and a few coats and furs. It would be a good place to go on a rainy day. Even though the shop is very small it has lots of items crammed in. Not a good place to bring children. Parking is tight because it shares a small lot with other businesses. Only reason I am not giving it a 4 is because prices are high, but you can't beat the vintage jewelry finds here. read more

If I lived closer, I'd visit far more frequently; however, since it takes two hours round-trip, I only make it for special occasions. Now, because I'm a real novice when it comes to resale shopping, I can't make any comparisons to other stores in terms of pricing. Also, I come in primarily for the jewelry, so I can't speak to the clothing or houseware offerings. But I am always amazed at just how much product they can fit into their small space, and there's always something that catches my eye. The organization is impeccable. You're looking for animal-themed pins, you say? Why, there's a labeled drawer right here filled with every animal pin in the store! Above it you'll find the flower pins, and below it the Americana pins. It makes shopping so much easier. Unfortunately, the size of the lot is a detractor. While I love that every corner is used to the fullest, and you can find treasure at every turn, I have found myself trapped on several occasions because the aisles are teeny weeny and folks like to sit down and paw through trays at a time. Also, this place seems to attract older clientele with absolutely no sense of basic manners. In such a tight space, an "excuse me" goes a long way. So stop shoving, you old bags! read more

I stumbled on to this place by accident and to simply put it, I was blown away. The most amazing collection of stuff, all beautifully arranged by color or theme! Vintage jewelry and knick-knacks along with hand made contemporary stuff. Each piece is picked out by someone with a fabulous eye, that's for sure. This store is quite the oddity to me. I go, on average, once a month, and am always greeted with that promise of a treasure to be found within the jam-packed shelves and countertops. However, as many times as I have been in there, and as much time as I spend in there, I think I may have spent a grand total of $17.89. I can't explain it. I feel like the items as a whole are great but when it comes to narrowing down my selection, nothing individually seems special enough. And then there are the times when i do find something great & unusual, but I can't seem to justify $35 for a beaded bracelet. Maybe I am too picky, who knows. But it is a nice shop to browse, everything is displayed well and they seem to offer a little something for everyone. Try it, maybe you will have better luck than me. read more

OK, I went there to sell some costume jewelry that I came across from relatives who passed away many years ago. This is not a place I would ordinarily frequent - I see I'm only the second male to post a review. It's mostly jewelry and accessories - I'm more of a "bobblehead" type guy (though there were some vintage Pez dispensers in the window). When I walked in, all I saw was a ton of jewelry displays - it's all over the place, but all of it was nicely displayed and well organized. I told one of the owners I had a few things to sell and she quickly took a look at the things I brought. Of the seven pieces I had, she bought five of them, which overall was pretty good. Now, I was hoping to get $25-$30 for the five pieces and she gave me $20 - a bit less than expected, but this was stuff I had no use for anyway. An interesting place - I was in a hurry and didn't do any browsing, but maybe I will next time if I encounter more things to sell. It's nice to see shops like this that have such "character" - part of what makes Chicago a great town. OOPS - almost forgot so had to "edit"... Before I could even get my statue out of the bag she says " oh no no no" ( smacking her lips full of food) " we don't go for this junk" I'm thinking to myself.... This store is FULL of junk! Despite the lack of freshly baked pound cake, this cozy store never fails to transport me back to my grandmother's house. I could, and literally have, spent hours going through the individual cases and drawers of vintage jewelry, b/w photos, purses and linens. Indulging myself in brief fantasies of baking grandeur a la Donna Reed while rummaging through the aprons, or trying on hats that make me torn between joining the first Baptist church I see and planning a Ky Derby party for the masses. This is the store that makes me long for the days when women wore gloves, silk stockings and fur wasn't so reviled. Yes, that's right, FUR! Between the kitcsh and the elusively expensive, great finds can be had if you're willing to take the time to look. There are always a vast amount of items in stock and it can be difficult to focus, but if you're looking for a way to spend some time on a rainy day, this store will always have my vote. read more

Another one of those local places I walk by often but never step in. Finally had a look about the place today as it neared closing hours. Took a quick walk about the store to see what kind of items were available (and hovered a bit by the eccentric salt and pepper shakers since I was kind of shopping for those). Clothes, oddities, jewelry, pictures, old figurines, etc. It was a very nice collection but had nothing that really appealed to me. I left empty-handed after trying to purchase a 'tea napkin' with a credit card -- they only allow credit card purchases with items totaling at least $15 or so. The women working there were extremely nice though, which I appreciated in my rush. A neat little store for those who are interested in the items present, but not for me. read more

So, I was on my way home from some grocery shopping and decided to pop into the antique shop I'd often passed, but never entered. Turns out it was my lucky day, as they are not usually open on a Sunday. I opened the door and discovered a sparkling grotto of jewelry, which warmed the cockles of my magpie heart! I wandered around so long, the frozen food in my car got distinctly mushy. I have never seen such a varied selection of jewelry. It's all organized by type, color and material. Offhand, I noticed a separate case for turquoise, amber, jade, coral, skull-themed, fine jewelry, pearls and rhinestone pieces. There were several drawers of cameos and intaglios, lockets, rhinestone brooches, antique buttons and mother of pearl jewelry. Do you like vintage hats, furs, lingerie? They've got em. There was a bookcase full of silky scarves. There were drawers full of cuff links, fountain pens, tie tack, shaving paraphernalia and pocket watches. It struck me as the perfect place to pick up vintage jewelry, hats and/or purses for one's wedding party. Some of the more unusual things I noticed were a set of silver spurs, a costume from the Joffrey Ballet, vintage silk umbrellas, a rather ornate auto-harp and a collection of tiaras and bejeweled masks. The staff were extremely helpful, checking my coat for me and helping me narrow down my search for the item I came in looking for. I made my escape having only purchased a Wedgwood cameo brooch (a gift) and a cute gold-tone necklace (for myself). I will most definitely be back soon! read more

I usually head for my favorite corner in the back cuz I love to look through the hats, belts and gloves (I'm bringing gloves back cuz my hands are always cold at work...and they're comfortable). Reminds me of playing in my grandmother's attic when I was little. If you are into steampunk or atompunk, you will find a ton of "must-haves." Love the poodle who greets you while you're there. And I'd love to work here just so I could dress as whimsically as the owners can everyday. If you don't like the small, tight parking lot: "Get over yourself." This is Chicago. I love this little place! It's full of vintage costume jewelry and has some clothing in the back, too. I've gotten tons of cool necklaces from here. They have a ton of different styles, and you can get a lot of them for under $20. The ladies who own/run it are nice & really helpful if you want a particular style, so if you're looking for something specific, definitely ask them and they'll pick our exactly what you need. Last year, I was going to be Joan Holloway from Mad Men for Halloween, and they led me right to a gold necklace with a gold pencil pendant at the end (the pencil works, too!), much like the one she wears on the show. I also got the dress there in a beautiful bold blue jewel tone with a really flattering 50s/60s nipped waist. Sometimes the clothes require some browsing because they're all packed into a small space, but it's worth looking. I have 5 or so vintage dresses from here, ranging from casual 70s to dressed up 50s/60s (the Joan dress). The dresses are really affordable, too - the ones I've gotten are in the $20-30 range and in great condition. (clothes were made better back in the day, so they last a LOT longer and look good for a long time) I've browsed their housewares too, and they have some gorgeous tea sets and little glass decor pieces (I really liked a purple one in the shape of a bunch of grapes). FYI they have a poodle in the shop, and he normally comes up to you when you come in the door. But s/he is a really mellow, quiet dog. :) read more

I grew up in the resale business and I know a good shop when I see one. This is a Good Shop, even a great one, tucked into a corner of a tiny strip mall on Harlem Ave. You couldn't imagine the sheer amount of stuff jammed into the place, and even if you could, you couldn't imagine that it would all be clean and neat and really well organized. Frankly, I'm in awe of the women who own this place because they must work around the clock to keep it looking the way it does. I went originally because it was said they had the best collection of costume jewelry in the city, and I'm guessing that's the truth. It is, as I indicated, extremely well organized so it's pretty simple to find exactly the sort of stuff you're looking for, and yet, there's so darn much of it, you still get the thrill of the hunt. I spent quite a while over the drawers filled with pins, earrings and bracelets and only began to scratch the surface. I only had time to glance around at the vintage and antique clothing, housewares, toys and god-only-knows-what that fills this place from floor to ceiling. The aisles are narrow and the place was filled with people, so there was a lot of waiting patiently, shifting and excusing ourselves as we crept about. I had hoped to find a resource for cheap mismatched and broken jewelry, and they do have jars filled with this invaluable resource, but I found them a little over-priced based on what I've paid in the past. Still, I got two large jars for $18 each ($18 seems to be the seekrit price of most everything in the store.) and once I got them home I found that the owners had made a real effort to balance the crap with some good pieces. I was not disappointed even if I'd have preferred to pay less. In general I'd say that their prices are about a third higher than I might ask under the same circumstances, but again I think that the prices reflect not just the merchandise but the work that's gone into cleaning and displaying it. As someone who has sorted through more than her share of boxes filled with what-not, I can tell you that while it's often a lot of fun, it's also a lot of work. Any store that has a store pet is also okay by me, so when I met Harpo, a handsome, thoughtful looking fellow who was a whole lot more sedate than his name suggested, and who wore a jaunty bow tie and patrolled the aisles patiently, it made the experience all that much better. So why only four stars? No reflection on the owners who are lovely, or on Harpo, who is as good an ambassador of vintage goodness as you can ask for. Rather I'd say it's the uncomfortable smallness of the space, the awful location with its difficult parking, and difficult exit from the lot during busy times, and yeah, the prices. Perhaps having come from a resale background this is a bigger deal to me than it is to most people, so take that objection for what it's worth. And I'll be honest, it didn't stop me from buying a bag filled with stuff. I just wish it'd been a bigger bag for what I spent. That said, I can also say that I'd go back there in a flash if I had the chance. Nice place, nice people, nice stuff. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the street. It's tucked into an old stripmall and located next to a so-so greasy spoon. Once inside you'll find enough merchandise to fill a store three times the size. There's tons of jewelry, women's clothes, shoes and hats, watches, buttons, and more. There's old toys, pictures, and housewares. What looks like chaos, though, is actually tightly-packed but well-organized gems. The shop is run by an eccentric group of women who seem to be having lots of fun every day. We've been there three times, and found some real great deals. From the moment you walk into this store it feels like stepping into a different world. One of the owners Suzanne is the nicest lady you will meet. I spent good 45 minutes just chatting with her. My Mom has been a costumer for a while and I'm so glad that she brought me here. You will find costume jewelry in every color, shape and size, all displayed beautifully. Everything is color coordinated. They have bunch of very interesting clothes. I saw a cool section that was made to look a bit like a walk in closet with signs like "sassy tops" and "racy battoms". I think it's a very cute and fun idea of displaying their merchandise. It's a super neat shop and worth checking out even if you don't end up buying anything the same day. It's definitely not a regular antique shop, you can tell that lots of love, time and detail was put into decorating and organizing the store. I cannot wait to go back. read more
