My family and I have stayed here twice since they give a generous military discount. The rooms are fairly nice; very clean but as the previous reviewer said: they could use a bit of detailing. The cleaning staff was outstanding though. They always made sure to ask us if there was anything we needed from extra towels and the like. The front desk was helpful. The workout room is way too small but the pool area was perfect for little ones. Breakfast is decent and about the only gripe I had was the billing process which was a little problematic. I was overcharged but credited back everything within a couple of days along with an apology from the manager. All in all, not a bad little place to stay! read more

I travel quite a bit and hotels can be a gamble, but the Residence Inn in Amarillo knows how to take care of you. Breakfast is good, lots of hot and cold options. Our room was very clean, well decorated and arranged and the full kitchen is such a great amenity. Pool and hot tub were a good size and the outdoor picnic area was a nice addition. Front desk staff was super friendly. Kesha was informative and quick to help. The hotel is conveniently located off I-40 with plenty of restaurant options nearby. Room was very nice. Clean, comfortable and quiet. My first time to stay at this particular Marriott. Only one night but really enjoyed the suite and the people. The mattress was very nice which provided a very restful nights sleep. Highly recommend! read more

Ok, Residence Inns are always nicer then the competition and this one is no different in many ways. Most of my complaints are petty so they won't keep me away from the brand. The good - the staff is very nice and professional and they answered our every request timely. The not so good - the extra bedding for the pullout bed was dirty and incomplete. The transition between tile and carpet in the kitchenette area was frayed and looks pretty crappy. The ice maker in the fridge does not work. The heater was finicky to operate. Wake up at one point and it was 62 degrees in the room. This room did not have a laundry basket in it. Again, it's mostly petty issues but the original Residence Inn that I stayed in had none of these issues so it is a little disheartening to find them. read more

This "pet friendly" hotel will be going to a $100 pet fee, not refundable. There was not a remote in the bedroom, and only one bowl in the kitchen. The pool area was nice. We are gold elite Marriott rewards members and will not be going back. read more

I would have given this hotel a 2, but the girls at the front desk are so sweet, they alone, deserve a 5. The room is nice and was clean on first appearance and well stocked when we arrived but they haven't swept our bathroom or mopped it since we got here, and they haven't restocked anything but towels and made the bed. There were pubic hairs on the floor in the barhroom when we arrived, and theyre still there as of day 4.... The breakfast selection sucks, and there's a long stay resident with a creepy animal above my bedroom that keeps me up all night. Not sure what it is, but it makes creepy noises from about 3 am, onward. read more

Dear Fellow Traveler, If you should find your path heading towards Amarillo, TX and you are seeking lodging for the night then you should heed my warning. I recently made reservations for my family to stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Amarillo. This was the first night of a family vacation. We checked in at the front desk and proceeded to our room only to find none of the beds had been made or the room cleaned since the last guest. My spouse, children, and myself were all staring at one another in utter disbelief. I have travelled far and wide for business and pleasure and stayed in some of the nicest hotels in the world and stayed in some real dumps but I have NEVER experienced anything like this situation. I called the front desk to inform them of the situation and the person that answered the phone apologized for the situation and informed me that they would let me speak to the Assistant General Manager Kesha Turner. When I calmly explained what was happening to Ms. Turner responded that she was not, "in charge of housekeeping". Furthermore, Ms. Turner informed me that since I had booked the hotel through a third-party broker that I should call the broker about my room not being cleaned prior to check in. As stunning as the experience of checking into a dirty room had been this response from an employee in leadership was even more stunning. The gross incompetence of the staff complied with the gross incompetence of the management team was just unbelievable. As a business person if I was contacted directly by one of my customers about an experience like this I would not be engaging in deflection. I would own the situation and take whatever steps necessary to correct the situation. That is what good companies and leaders do. I made other arrangements to stay at another hotel. Several hours later I was contacted by a representative from the franchisee that another room had been cleaned and was ready for me to check in. I politely informed the representative that I had made other arrangements and I would like a refund. I was told that the General Manager Lorrie Phillips would contact me the following day. To date I have never heard from Ms. Phillips or anyone else at Marriott. read more

The fact that these rooms come equipped with a stovetop/operational kitchen makes it so wonderful. As someone who travels the vast majority of the year, it is the opportunity to make my own meals that I have come to miss the most. The room here is much like an apartment, in many ways, making it feel very comfortable. The bedroom is separate from the living room and kitchen area. Each room has a flat screen TV, too. In addition to the kitchen there is also access to the pool/hot tub area available until midnight for adults, outside patio and grill area, plus weeknight social hours in the lobby with free snacks and drinks. For those not inclined to making their own meals, the hotel is located near to many restaurant options and has easy access to I-40. This is a great place to stay whether for a night or on an extended visit to Amarillo. read more

Clean, comfortable, everything worked, reliable. Staff was very friendly, from providing local restaurant list to their attitude. Breakfast was good and coffee was outstanding. Rooms were huge with nice kitchen. Free microwave popcorn in the room was a nice touch and enjoyed. The only thing I didn't like was that the gym room was very sparse. One bench and an incomplete set of dumbbells (they had 5 and 10 lbs, skipped 15, 20 and 25, then had 30, etc.). Treadmill was in need of work. A bit wobbly. read more

SUPER nice girl at the front desk who gave me great upgrade (2 bedroom suite). My room was very clean, very roomy, and had a nice fireplace. The 2 bathrooms were super clean too. As with other Residence Inns, there was a good buffet breakfast every morning (complimentary). Parking and wifi were free. All good - no complaints. Usually I stay next door at the FF Inn (which is nice too), but decided to give this hotel a try - I'm glad I did. Excellent choice on my part! The location is right on I-40 - there are tons of shops, restaurants, stores, Target, etc., very close by. A suggestion if you have time in Amarillo. I have stayed overnight in Amarillo many times over the years. I never realized that there was this cool, historic area a few minutes away called "Historic 6th Street - Historic Route 66." It is very charming and well-worth a visit. There are eclectic shops, restaurants and bars - a nice place to walk around. We got really messed-up directions out of a book about Amarillo - so, if you go, it is actually located at SW 6th Avenue and Georgia Street. From this hotel, just go back east on I-40 a couple miles to Georgia St. Make a left on Georgia, go about a mile or so, and you will end up at the beginning of the historic area - total less than 5 miles from this Res Inn. (Also, Cadillac Ranch - right down I-40 west a little ways is fun too!) read more

This was the worst Residence Inn we've ever been to (and we've been to many.) Problems here: 1. Bad signage. 2. Bad parking. 3. Asked for hypoallergenic bedding. Was told it was all safe. Came in and 5/8 pillows were down. Took them to the desk. Was given a new pillow. IT WAS DOWN. Had to show her how to read a label. Btw she gave no checkout or breakfast time at check-in either nor a map or any of the standard stuff. 4. Toilets were dirty and seats were left up. 4. Beds were not made properly and mattress covers kept coming off. 5. Found dog hair on one of the beds; another mattress had glitter. Not clean and problematic for us with a dog allergy in the family. 6. There's a fireplace with a pilot light that won't turn off. It makes the living room hot and ten year old was terrified it would cause a fire. 7. Breakfast choices and quality were poor and the waffle batter so thin it didn't even cook properly. 8. Dust everywhere, dirty carpets and generally run down; no info about local area or hotel policies like you usually find in the room. Felt unwelcoming. 9. No one at desk when time for checkout, had to wait. Would not return, have advised everyone we know never to go there. This is not what a Residence Inn is supposed to be. read more

First experience in Amarillo. This hotel had the most friendly staff. Although our room wasn't perfectly clean at first, it got better with our stay. Food was typical hotel fare but kitchen staff were also very friendly and willing to help. read more

In the process of moving from Tennessee to Nevada, we had to stop so that we can take a break from driving 16 hours and being awake for well over 24 hours. When we woke up the next morning to find that the break valve on our moving truck was out and didn't know how or when we could get it fixed. We temporarily reserved the room for a second night. Pamela, the woman at the front desk, walked around the counter to hug my mom while having a minor breakdown from the stress of this move. Later that same day I went to buy a pack of m&ms and their machine was down so I couldn't pay. Pamela let me take those m&ms anyway. I don't think she knew that me and my mom were together which is just a testament to how much she treated us like family without hesitation. Pamela deserves the recognition of outstanding customer service and if we're ever in Amarillo again, I know where I'll be staying. I've had to stay here on trips for the past 3 years. Considered the place livable. Apparently last year it underwent a refurbishing of the rooms and now it's wonderful. The rooms are super clean and the furniture is very contemporary. Huge flatscreens, sleek updated kitchenettes and great staff. Highly recommend read more

Clean , easy access off I 40, great staff that were very helpful in getting us around the area, updated and modern, great work space/desk area .... One of our countries newer helicopters is made here and there is a great area you can watch them do touch and goes. Restaurants a plenty within 2 miles of hotel. Typically the stay here is a good one however the last time there were ants in my room, they moved me to another room so ok it's a one time thing........... Couple weeks later I check in to find the room at 62 degrees, we turn on the heat and leave for some appointments. Come back to a a room under 60 degrees. Call the front desk and they inform me the heater must be broken, no other rooms to move me too and the door is locked to the furnace. I say ok I'll turn on the stove all night to heat the room and they say ok sounds good!!! I pick the lock and fix the heater.........next day out of room by 10:30 am, come back and no maid service........call the front desk to be told huh I don't know why they didn't do your Room. I can have it done tomorrow but you are checking. Out tomorrow. What a joke! read more

Residence Inn Amarillo cancelled my reservation while I was on the road on my way to their location. I live in Austin and had just driven 10 hours. It was 12:45am and I was traveling with my wife, two daughters, and two small dogs. When I arrived, they informed me that they had emailed me about the cancellation 15 minutes prior to my arrival. I believe a phone call would have been more appropriate. I had no choice but to drive to Austin due to the no vacancy in Amarillo. The customer service representative at the front desk named Heather, simply shrugged her shoulders and said, "sorry for the inconvenience". Really nice hotel. Everything is brand new. Really nice layout in the apartment-style room. really cute sectional that is perfect for a kitty cat the climb on and for me to watch TV. Plenty of well placed electrical outlets to plug in my computer and cell phones. My only complaint is that I can kind of hear my neighbors above me walking around which I'm not used to in any other hotel . But I did go down for nacho bar tonight which included free beer and wine so you can't complain about that. And I was a little surprised at how shallow the jacuzzi was. I don't recommend this hotel. We have stayed here several times during our travels, but it is declining in up keep. I'm surprised Marriott even associates with it. The pool and hot tub are new, but tiles are already popping up. It is a dog friendly hotel , but they are allowed to pee and poo any where (by entry door) and bark while in rooms. The carpets in the halls and elevator smell like a kennel. In the room the AC did not work. It was set to 70 and woke up at 57 degrees. The room was clean, but showed a lot of wear. The laminate was falling off the table edge and cabinets in bathroom needed to be refinished. read more

Ewwwww. I walked in from a long road trip. I was already tired, longing for a warm, nice, clean bed to sleep in. I arrived at the front desk, at which no one immediately greeted me. After checking in, I went up to my room. I already am scared of elevators, but this elevator was screeching and shaking, very terrifying. I walked in my room and was filled with immediate horror. The ceilings were popcorn ceilings, disgusting! I walked into the bathroom and toothpaste was in the sink. I walked into the other bathroom and hair was everywhere! Disgusting! At last I went to bed. I was very skeptical of the sheets, but I slept anyway. Upon waking up, I frantically packed my stuff away and left. When I got in my car, my brother, who eats anything and everything, told me that even he was disgusted by the food at breakfast. Disgusting! Arrived in Amarillo to be greeted with 27 degrees plus bone chilling wind. Front desk was friendly and helped explain the strange layout of the hotel. Warm room with a comfortable bed. Nothing special but met the requirements and allowed us to rest before finishing our trip the next day. read more

When you are on the road for weeks at a time, nothing can feel like home, but residence inn by Marriott in Amarillo put this up to the challenge. The first thing that i do upon entering my house, my mom's house, grandma's house, is check the refrigerator, as a force of habit for some reason, this makes me feel at home. So you can imagine, that upon arrival on a three week tour, finding a full size refrigerator in the room was a breath of fresh air. Lets mention a full size stove, microwave, and fully stocked cabinets with all amenities to cook! On tour with a couple guys, and often resorting to sleeping on a bench seat in a van, the Residence Inn offered us a place to stretch our legs, with two bathrooms, two bedrooms, and a fold out couch in the common space, this place as everything you need to feel at home if you are traveling with a family, or multiple people. 10 out of 10! Asked for another room and was told all room were book. At least the staff brought a fan for us. We slept in a Box fan blowing 103 Texas Heat. read more

We stayed one night in a two bedroom suite and it was wonderful! Very nice, large room with a kitchen and fireplace. We had three adults and two children and were very comfortable. The hotel offers a nice breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, oatmeal, etc. We would definitely stay here again! read more

I hesitate to even give this establishment one star. Despite their representations that the air-conditioners work no matter what the outside temperature is, my room, a king suite, had air-conditioning that malfunctioned and they couldn't and wouldn't do anything about it. All I got was lip service and that doesn't make for a good stay.Marriott rewards? What kind of reward is that? read more

Had to stay there for 2 1/2 weeks under an unusual circumstance. Desk staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. They made us feel right at home. Were very helpful and understanding -- given that we weren't sure how long the duration of our stay would be. Very good for what it is. Room was nice. Cleaning staff was nice. I stayed in this Hotel for 3 months during which time they were doing the remodel. I had to move rooms, and the staff was so accomidating in helping move all the stuff I had, including a small office I had set up. The staff was so friendly and caring. I never had to ask for something more than once, my billing was expidited and the management was over the top in knowing and caring for the long term guests, as that is what this hotel was designed for. read more
