It's an older one, but comfy and worthwhile. The rooms are spacious and clean, staff is friendly. Breakfast is adequate. Deducting two stars for a few reasons- Housekeeping opened my door without knocking several times before checkout time. Different people every time, huge invasion of privacy. Their pool/whirlpool is completely ignored. Discolored and full of debris. Do not drink their boxed milk served at breakfast. Perfectly fine hotel. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. Yes, the decor is a little out dated but nothing crazy. The grounds were clean and it was in a nice area. I will say that the worse part was the small in the hallways. They might have just cleaned the carpets but it wasnreally bad our first day. By the end of our trip, it seemed to start going away. The tub also needs to be fixed. It was caving in so it was really difficult to stand in the shower. Outside of that, everything else was perfectly fine. read more

The room layout is actually quite spacious and reasonably nice considering the layout. However, there is a cleanliness, insect, and age maintenance issue with this hotel. The elevators sound ancient and creaky, the lobby seemed dated, and the carpet was dirty looking. There was also a lack of items like dental kit available. The biggest issue was when we checked into our rooms we found ticks. The insects or ticks were particularly concerning because it made us paranoid about bed bugs especially with the other reviews. Fortunately, the front desk politely moved our room and tried their best to accommodate. The additional star is definitely because of the helpful front desk staff in that situation. We also had other issues like the housekeeping not showing up and the boiled eggs at the breakfast tasting spoiled. We stayed here this past weekend to attend our sister's graduation from SNHU, and although the room was clean and fully stocked, the Inn itself is outdated, the fireplace and two out of three phones in the room did not work, Brian (front desk) and the rest of the hospitality staff is who these 4 stars go to. The rooms are big and comfortable, though dated. The real problems with the place, to be frank, are cleanliness and personal security/safety. The rooms are not clean,. Gunk in the tub, deposits on the shower head, human snot smeared on the room walls. Bedding stank as if it wasn't changed before we got there. Personal safety. Bad things are happening in the parking lots at night. We felt intimidated by what appeared to be drug commerce in the parking lot. Perfect location to move products, right there in the dark on the NH border. The people hanging in the lot was scary, and so were the box-cutter blades (plural) that just happen to be on the ground where these people would be standing around all the time. I mean - all the time - I think they live at the hotel. The useless people at the desk are either oblivious to their security problem, or are aware and don't care. DO NOT... I REPEAT DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! For as much that was paid for the weekend the room was disappointing and disgusting. The pull out couch had stains and crumbs on it. There were spiders everywhere and bugs in the vent. The most disgusting thing was finding roaches crawling on the walls and seeing trash bags in the hallways left by guests over night. The laundry room was broken, had leaking washers, the washers that were working were disgusting. The room had a kitchenette but no pots and pans and when we asked the front desk we were told we'd have to wait until the next day. Also, the oven had not been cleaned properly. A trash can was not provided we had to request it. In the pool area, as a woman was going to get into the hot tub, an improperly installed drain caused a severe injury to a guest. Overall for the amount this hotel costs, it needs a serious upgrade and cleaning. One positive, was the front desk staff. They are friendly and did the best they could with our concerns. read more

We are platinum Marriott members and this was not a good experience. The lobby was old and had a strange smell as you walked in. The pool was dirty and cloudy. The fire pit had blue paint tape holding tiles on and there were missing tiles with sharp edges. The furniture was stained, torn, really disgusting, there is no way I would sit on it. The storage container by the brick wall was beyond dirty and growing mold. The restaurant is set up horribly. It is hard to maneuver between tables. The workout room is small, has an order, and seems damp and dark. There is ample equipment to get a strength or cardio workout. The room itself seemed out of date The bathroom could use a facelift. This residence in needs to be updated. It was clean but very dated and it had an odor, perhaps just old ac filter or something. The indoor outdoor path to our room is a very poor design. We were lucky to have good weather but this is not a good plan in New England or anywhere with rain or snow. It is also cumbersome to get through the doors with luggage. BEDBUGS INFESTED - PLEASE SEE PICTURES AND AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Reserved a suite for my family to visit my parents (Room 106 for anyone who stays here). 2 days into the stay, discovered a bedbug on my sister's face and she had a couple of bites. When inspecting the mattresses / boxsprings, it was clear that this was a known problem as the bottom of the boxsprings have bed bug trails and bloodmarks, and one of the boxsprings had the bottom cut open in multiple places to be inspected for bedbugs. One of the hotel employees mentioned that they knew they had an infestation, but general manager claims they have never had bedbugs, and they have not and will not replace the mattresses / boxsprings. Michael the junior person at the front deck did his best to be helpful, calm me down, and get us a new room, but there is no way we would stay in that hotel another night. Vanessa, the general manager, refunded the points I used to book my stay after multiple back and forth requests, will not refund the 3 suite night upgrade I used for the 3 nights we did not stay at the hotel, has not offered to reimburse the cleaning expenses, and wants kudos for 'putting the room out service while they investigate". 4 days later I have been notified that their pest control service claims "I am happy to inform you that upon inspection of room 106 our Pest control Company found no evidence of any bed bugs past or present....In the future if you feel as though you have been in a room with bedbugs the protocol is to leave the area as it is. Moving the beds and furniture around will only further your contact and spread any possible insects that may or may not be in the room, creating a larger situation." Don't move the furniture and check the boxsprings bc that is where all the evidence is. Makes perfect sense. Fortunately, as a Marriott Ambassador member, they were able to find me another suite on 12/26 in the middle of peak holiday season. People living here! As we walked down the hallway of our room, a strong odor of cigarettes covered the area, and one of the rooms had a homestyle floor mat outside of it, as if someone was permanently residing in the hotel. As we opened the door to the room, the cigarette smell became unbearable, along with a potent moisture/mold smell. As we walked around the room to inspect it further, we came across several burn holes in the carpet, broken cabinets, ceiling mold, a buildup of hair and dust throughout, stains, a large piece of pink gum smushed into the carpet, and overall filth. At this time, I went to the main desk and requested a change of location. I described the appalling condition of the room and stated that it seemed as if someone was actively smoking cigarettes on the 3rd floor. The receptionist's response was extremely rude and acted as if it could not be possible. She replied "although it is not allowed we can't control people smoking, the carpets are being replaced and there can't be that much dust and hair". Although she delivered a completely unacceptable response, she moved our room. Our new room I cannot say was much better. The room had several white stains on the couch, spots of mold on the pillows, filthy walls, and still a strong odor of cigarettes. I am very concerned at the fact that people are being housed and sheltered at this location. I am sure I am not alone, when saying I would have reconsidered staying here if I knew this ahead of time. Had a two bedroom suite and found the toilet in one suite was clogged. Maintenance person attempted to plunge, then snake the toilet and said something was blocking it. We were not offered another room. Bathroom smelled like an outhouse by the time we checked out the next day. After explaining the situation, hotel manager questioned the whole situation, argued against a discount on the room rate, then offered a $20 reduction in our two night stay which is completely inadequate. I suggest you not stay at this property as the management is not willing to fairly handle any problems that occur. read more

Nice size king room with kitchen and living room that has a pop out sofa bed. Sofa beds are not a multiple night solution but the king bed was firm with decent pillows. Kitchen is convenient in this area because there no restaurant and things are a drive from here so you're on your own or pay for food to be delivered and wait 45 - 1 hr when you could grab something at the grocery to stock up and eat in. Breakfast is 6:30-9, the normal hotel Continental fare. Staff is friendly and the place is kept up and quiet so you can rest. Nothing special in the area and a 25 mile drive to Boston. read more

This place flat out sucks, no other way to put it. We checked in on Friday around 4PM and they told us to wait in the lobby until the room is 'inspected'. Well, apparently the room wasn't inspected anyway since it wasn't vacuumed and cleaned, and also resembled the rooms in the movie 'the Shining'. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. We requested room cleaning as soon as we checked in for the next day. Surprise, no one cleaned the room. Also major pest issues. Ants crawling everywhere in the rooms! Place looks like it hasn't been renovated since Senior George Bush was president. I stayed at this location for a total of 60 nights, so I had some time to form an opinion. It's a good hotel. Not great and not terrible, but it's good. My main quibbles were about housekeeping. Sometimes they would forget to properly restock the complimentary coffee or popcorn, and one day they did not service the room at all even though they were supposed to. I did not report this to management because I'm a pretty low key person and I realize that everyone makes mistakes. That being said, this played a role in me giving the hotel only 3 stars. I can see where they've attempted to make updates but it still feels shabby. The bathroom needed work and the toilet needed several flushes. Carpet was stained in many places but there was a big stain right by the bed. Yuck. It also didn't seem like anyone vacuumed as there were nuts and shells on the floor by the closet and other small things around. Never felt clean, even after I disinfected with my cleansers. Also, my room was a three hour hike from the elevators. Only seems to be one set in the center of the building. Not nice when you're there for a your daughter's wedding and have a ton of stuff to carry. Don't think luggage on wheels will help you because the carpets are too thick for anything to roll. Entry into the main building where you stay was never locked despite it seeming to require a key card. Only saving grace was the front desk staff-VERY friendly and welcoming. They are the only reason I gave any stars and should be commended for their customer service. So disappointed in this property as other Residence Inns are so much better quality read more

A hidden gem in the suburbs! I rented a room for a couple nights so that the kids could swim in the pool. The hotel is very clean and you can obviously tell that the staff cares. Brianna, the young lady from sales, was especially helpful in helping me navigate the local attractions and points of interest. You might be able to find a fancier hotel, but you won't find a team like this one. I never bother to write reviews, but to let service of this caliber go unnoticed would be a crime. I stayed here in August of 2011 while in Andover for work. I quickly changed to a different hotel after spending 2 nights in this one. Since I was staying for an extended period of time, the concept of having a full kitchen and a complimentary breakfast was extremely appealing to me which is why I wanted to stay here. You also get more Marriott points per night at this hotel over the Courtyard nearby. The number 1 reason I left - the bed. It was HARD AS A ROCK!!! I got no sleep while I was staying there, and I mean if I can't sleep at the hotel that's a deal breaker. The rooms are also very outdated, which is probably why the bed was so hard. All the furniture, appliances, etc were very old looking. There were some good things though. I did enjoy the morning breakfast which was very tasty. I also enjoyed having the full kitchen available even thought I didn't end up really putting it to good use. If I ever end up back in Andover, I'll definitely be staying at the Courtyard. I stayed in a 1 bedroom in both, and I'm pretty sure the room at the courtyard was bigger even though it didn't have a full kitchen which seems weird but the room at the residence inn just seemed very cramped and outdated. read more

Pretty average hotel. The rooms are a bit old but they do have kitchens. The gym has weights, 2 treadmills and an elliptical which works fine, and there was no one there on Tuesday morning. The breakfast was great and had tons of variety. Everyone is also really nice and were helpful in having our boarding passes printed at the front desk. The only thing that was a big turn off is when I forgot my charger they called to let me know, and asked if I would like it shipped back to me. So that was nice, only to find out 1 month later when I get the bill from FedEx for $25 for the shipping...would've been nice if they were up front about it, as the charger is obviously not even worth that much and there was no need for them to make it special hand delivery packaging or express shipping. This RI has been updated - furnishings and paint. It is comfortable and the staff are responsive and friendly. What holds this RI back from the rest of the RI's I've stayed at across the country is the poor quality of food served during breakfast and during the manager's receptions. Powdered eggs does not a satisfying breakfast make. Microwaved burger patties is not what's expected when the reception says it's grilling burgers. I won't be back again. read more

While in town for business I stayed at this location for a week. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Following all social distancing guidelines during this trying time. Obviously the breakfast bar and gym are closed for the foreseeable future due to Covid. I was put in a great location on the top floor. One down side is there is only 2 elevators right next to each other at the very front of the hotel. So I found myself just using the steps since I was on the far end of the hotel. My room was very big and nicely cleaned. Rooms have a stove, oven and large fridge which is awesome! The AC works great and my room got all the way down to the low 60s like I like when I'm sleeping. There isn't any room service at this time but if you go down to the front desk they can give more towels or anything else you might need. This hotel is in a great location with a ton of very beautiful walking trails all around. The stay was great up until I saw the house keeping woman rummaging thru my personal thing & Jewelry, I spoke to the head manager of house keeping and she tried to make it out that i was mistaken, absolutely not having that!!, I told her from here out NO ONE is allowed to clean my room unless i or my children was there, to babysit them. read more

First thing: staff here is incredible. Got early check in, front desk guy was super courteous. Two bedroom suite was updated and clean. But speaking of the rooms, there were some missing things. No bathmat in one bathroom, no blanket for the pull out, no accent pillow on one bed (didn't care about this but did make me feel like I would be charged for it!). Called the front desk about the mat and blanket, cheery guest services had them sent right up. I'm hoping the early check in was the cause of the unfinished rooms. Checked out very early morning two days later for a long car ride ahead of us. The night auditor was so great and offered us fresh coffee for our trip. Loved her demeanour and accent! BEWARE Marriott will NOT help you if you're not a Bonvoy member!! The toilet didn't work and Marriott did nothing! This had to be one of the worst "customer service" cases I've dealt with. I had a 2 bedroom suite for 2 nights for which I paid $525. The toilet in one of the suites didn't work. The hotel was full so we couldn't change rooms. We were accommodating to the situation with the hotel (shouldn't it be the other way around?) and were assured the matter would be addressed when we checked out. At check out, the manager said it was all taken care of - I asked what compensation we were given and he said he took $20 off the bill. $20! Are you kidding me? Long, long, long story short... Corporate headquarters said they could only give me points - I rarely travel and I'm not a Bonvoy member, so they do me no good, when I insisted that wasn't satisfactory, the SUPERVISOR, Sue, hung up on me. I will never recommend staying at Marriott and their "customer service" is non-existent. read more

This is a great hotel, certainly top 20% of all Residence Inn I've stayed. In fact, I have visited this property twice already this year, and was quite satisfied in both stays. The suites were large, very clean, and well equipped with kitchenwares. The bed and the shower were excellent. I would give it a 5-star rating if they could improve the breakfast quality. We have stayed at this hotel in business trips a few times. The overall is ok but they could improve in many ways. The beds are terrible but everything else is pretty much what we would expect from a Residence Inn. Breakfast is average but for being included in the price the buffet is not bad. The front desk staff are very helpful and accommodating. Rooms could be cleaned more carefully, therefore needless to say that for someone who is allergic to carpet I suffered the whole stay. Unbelievable! That's all I can say about this dump of a hotel. On the surface, the room seemed OK, but something was off about the bed. It seemed extremely hard in the center, and it was so soft on the edges I almost rolled out. After a sleepless night, I looked under the mattress in the morning to find a piece of plywood covering about 2/3 of the box springs. Needless to say, I went downstairs and talked to the front desk clerk, "Frank", who assurred me that the bed would be replaced and that the manager would call me as soon as this was accomplished. Neither thing happened. I then emailed the General Manager of the hotel three times with no response. I then contacted Marriott Reward Platinum customer support twice with no response. When I arrived back at my room the plywood bed was still there, just as uncomfortable as ever. I stay at hotels over 150 nights a year traveling for business and this is BY FAR the very worse hotel I have ever stayed in. The bed is not up to the standards of a low budget motel, much less a Marriott property. The lack of concern by the staff is also very concerning. I plan on escalating my complaint with Marriott corporate as I find this situation completely unacceptable. I still have to stay in this dump for 6 more nights unfortunately, but I am thinking of pulling the mattress onto the floor as it must be softer than the plywood. For my second business trip this month I have already cancelled the reservation at this hotel and have changed to the Homewood Suites down the road which is 20 times better than this place. The beds in this hotel, at least in my room, are completely below any standards of hotels of this type and price range. Avoid staying at this place if you want a night of comfortable sleep. Everything about our stay at the Residence Inn Boston in Andover, MA was hands down the best experience. The staff was very accommodating, my father was in severe pain when we arrived and when we asked if they had a wheelchair available they went out and purchased a new one to have on the property, this saved my dads weekend. Also, we had two little kids with us and since the outdoor pool was a little cold they let us use the indoor pool at the hotel next to ours. The property was also beautiful, well maintained and very, very clean. read more
