There was also a lot of space to put our things and keep everything organized 3. I didn't go in the pool but it looked really nice. The patio area is also great for cookouts. Where they need improvement: 1. There was sand in my sheets. It was obvious the staff did not change not the sheets after the last guests. 2. The layout was a little tough to navigate. I get the appeal but I was with a large group of blind people who had a hard time finding their rooms. 3. The vanity light stopped working. It worked the first night but didn't work after that.

It's incongruous, and I felt like rushing into a bathroom to put on a designer suit and a shirt with cufflinks. The omnipresent T-shirt and shorts of Asbury Park seemed out of place, but that's the uniform on the Shore, and the Ocean Club was no exception. A piano man was singing in the second-floor lounge, and his lovely voice and keyboard playing filled the elegant wood-lined rooms. He was fantastic, as was the interior of this zen hotel. It was the epitome of modern luxury, and the expansive space had the perfect lighting, transporting the patrons to a world of peace and relaxation. The Jersey Shore was in a different hemisphere. Well, until we encountered the lackadaisical service, which would be more appropriate at one of the tiki bars on the beach. I literally had to search them down to get our drinks and to retrieve our check. The prices were quite reasonable for this kind of place.

But my god, it is splinter hell. Us, along with 3 other families that we knew of, were realizing at the pool that us and our kid's feet were completely full of splinters. We spent a total of about 3 hours at the pool over 2 days and my four year old had over 50 splinters in each foot! I had about 10 and spouse a few less. My four year old will not even let me look at his foot, nevertheless remove the splinters - yeah right. I think we are going to need to get sedated. This has ruined the stay to be honest. The hotel also didn't have tweezers. At least two families complained and nothing seemed to be done about it. The deck is extremely dry. This wouldn't be a hard problem to solve. ICE. I requested ice about 20 different ways, because there is no ice machine so they say just request it: - through the app on their tablet (3x, nothing) - through calling the front desk (2x, nothing) - in person at the front desk (2x, nothing) - through text to the front desk (4x, nothing) - in person to the person that came to the room one night (2x, 1x worked!) I got ice once, woohoooooo! The tablet is a joke. I needed an extra bedsheet and requested it through the tablet and it never came. In person at the front desk it did, however. Beautiful hotel, but the splinters ruined it. You could not pay ME to stay somewhere that my autistic kid gets 100 splinters in his feet. The hotel is feeling a bit neglected in some ways. Our "terrace" had algae on the deck area, one couch cushion had a big brown spot and there was half of a DEAD BIRD on our terrace. It was there the whole time. Of course my 4 year old was enthralled.Yay.

They put sensors in the room to shut off the air conditioner. Since there's no motion when you're sleeping, the air-conditioning goes off about every hour or so. You have to get up waive your hand in front of the sensor to turn it back on. You also don't get hot water. My guess is they have the temperature set low to save money. Then most people who work at the hotel don't speak English. The guy from engineering couldn't understand a word we were saying and housekeeping would just look at us funny when we asked a question. When I said that to the front desk, they told me that I need to speak Spanish to engineering and housekeeping. I tried to talk to the general manager, but she refused to talk to me. I'm not sure what's going on here, but this is definitely off brand. You should think twice before staying here.

We wanted something to pick on since all the drinking & got some chips & guacamole not bad. This is a nice area, decent music in the background it wasn't anything crazy like that more of a laid back vibe I would say mainly to just chill & enjoy the pool. I had such a bad reaction to our room I slept the last 3 nights wearing a mask. Being in the room made my eyes red and burn, shortness of breath/wheezing- symptoms would lessen as soon as I got fresh air. Eww. Just allergic to all the dander and filth. Developed & left with the worst sinus infection I've ever had. And with all my cleanliness concerns, we were googling legionnaires symptoms. Not being dramatic- it was really bothersome and worrying to feel so awful IN a hotel room. We were out of our room daily by 10:30 am (do not disturb sign NOT up) and we didn't get our room remade 2 of the days. I had to call down for clean towels once we returned from the beach. BUT! We did arrange (& agree to additional charge) for late checkout and KNOCK KNOCK (do not disturb UP!!) housekeeping at our door on checkout day as we are packing- ready to flip our room! Annoying. Additionally, the pool was disgusting. The adults never went in but it's hard to keep kids out. You couldn't see the bottom it was so cloudy- We were worried about them dunking their faces under. Especially after watching a late night adults only pool party following a sweaty group tournament in the park. Gross. The pool was cleaned once during our stay, with a robot vacuum. BEFORE that party. That water needed TREATMENT. Stick to the ocean. Valet is only parking option and you wait an insane amount of time for the attendant- when you can see your car parked right out front. Please give us our keys! At that point you're not providing a service. We are going to be late for our reservations and you're wasting our vacation time. At $50/night for that, you're just taking advantage in a seemingly not very busy part of town. There is no access to ice, so to fill your water bottles etc, you need to ask the cafe in lobby. During busy coffee mornings, the barista was not thrilled to be dealing with this and we were not thrilled to wait over a half hour for a cup of ice. Understaffed- needs more than one overwhelmed person. We had SO SO much fun enjoying the beach & boardwalk. Really wish this hotel was a dream and we "found our new place" but absolutely wouldn't stay here again. We would have left after 1st night, if we didn't need to be here for the family thing. We were shocked how well reviewed it is. There are so many options along the shore. **wait! I just remembered- one morning there was a siren/alarm going off for nearly 15 minutes and the manager came over the loudspeaker in our room (yup, that's right- intercom loudspeaker) and said repeatedly that there was no emergency. On the second day, I was approached rudely by hotel staff, who accused me of failing to disclose that I had my dog with me. They pressured me to leave my family behind and immediately move to a lower-floor room with no beachfront view, claiming it was the hotel's mistake because the fourth floor was supposedly the only floor where dogs are permitted. I insisted on getting my family, who were at the pool, before moving. While doing so, we spoke with three other guests traveling with pets who told us they were staying on the 5th, 6th, and 8th floors. This directly contradicted the explanation we were given, as we were the ones being removed from the 8th floor. The entire experience felt deceptive, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Instead of taking responsibility for their error, the hotel attempted to downgrade our accommodations based on an explanation that appeared to be untrue. I would have given zero stars if that were an option because of these shady and misleading practices.

I arrived in the afternoon and was greeted and checked in promptly. I have IHG status, and they gave me a small goodie bag with water and snacks at check-in. My room was on the second floor (ground level, just steps from the lobby). The room itself was quite large, with a modern design that felt recently renovated. There was a large television and a desk area with a comfortable leather chair. The mini fridge was more substantial than usual, closer to a half-size fridge, and actually worked well, which is not always the case in hotel rooms. The heating and fan system also worked effectively, and I was able to block out any outdoor noise. The bed was especially comfortable, with plenty of pillows that were not overly firm, and clean, crisp white bedding. The bathroom was spacious, the shower had good pressure, and was stocked Dove products. Breakfast is included with the stay. I had a few mini omelettes, though much of the hot food had run out by the time I got there. There was still a decent selection of fruit (apples, oranges, berries), baked goods, and oatmeal packets. I also had tea, although I heard the automatic coffee machine was not working during my visit. Overall, this was a smooth and comfortable stay. The Holiday Inn Express brand seems to have experienced a glow-up, my recent stays over the past few years have been good, well-priced, and reliable.

They gave my room a price and charged us a price on Experian, and I called because I had the reward membership, which was a cheaper rate and was told when I called , that when we we arrived, they would fix the price to the cheaper rate. Well you got it right, we were at the check in desk for 40 minutes and they wouldn't do anything for us. Even though the lady I spoke to the day earlier the I spoke to that was going to change our rate was the girl at the front desk.
