This place promotes itself as being family friendly, but our experience was far from that. We are a family of 6. Rented two rooms. We came for Bridgefest weekend and for 3 of us to be baptized in the ocean. That was wonderful and memorable! However, or experience at this hotel was not wonderful. We were nagged by the staff about noise level, even in the middle of the day. They couldn't just tell the other guests that they had spoken to us? No, they had to keep reminding me. The kids were well behaved and just excited to be there! There were no other young children that we saw staying there. As soon as we were baptized I came back to the room, and was reminded again about the noise level in the middle of the day when it was pouring outside. We packed up and checked out a day early knowing that we were going to be stuck inside playing board games the rest of the night. I've never paid so much for two hotel rooms for 2 days and 1 night. If you are looking for a place to stay with young children, look somewhere else.

The hotel was renovated very cheap (even the door knob were not changed, the locks don't work). The rooms are extremely small and the breakfast (yogurt and bagels only) is ... minimalist (there is not even water available, just coffee and hot water). The toiletry follows the same trend with mini soap given. It's a shame because of the owners were offering a slightly more premium experience, it could be easily a 5 stars review. But today, the Shawmont is the experience of a 2 stars hotel at the price of a 4 stars.

Well, when we got to our room (16) it felt as though it had not been cleaned for awhile, never mind this thorough cleaning we were being sold. The ceiling fan had a layer of blade dust and the sheet had a spot of blood. Dresser drawers had not been wiped clean and had a broken light switch in one. The overall outside of the building was breaking down and all of the outdoor furniture had stains and burn holes. The best part of our stay was our room had a balcony. Once we cleaned the outdoor furniture we were able to enjoy the outside area. Hope they will return this once OG gem back to the clean, well kept inn we once enjoyed.

Joe and Kelsey are amazing hosts and very responsive to texts/questions. All the staff is great. There is a beautiful rooftop deck that we enjoyed at night after dinner. Great for socializing. There is also a room with a couch on the 4th floor for gatherings/gaming systems for young kids. Breakfast every morning was delicious!!! Each morning there was a specialty option, as well as eggs and bacon plus homemade breads and muffins. My mouth is watering just thinking about the delicious egg sandwich Joe made. You can get a beach pass through them ($8 daily), which is $2 cheaper than purchasing at the beach entrance. The inn is a quick walk to the beach, it's in a perfect location. The inn is also not a far walk to Asbury Park (leisurely walk took us about 20 minutes). With traveling with a young baby and all the beach stuff they need, having a room on the 4th floor could have been a little complicated, but luckily, we had a parking spot right out in front to pack away our stuff each day. Make sure when selecting your room you are paying attention to which floor it is on. Overall we had a great time and cannot wait to come back! The Inn was perfect for a vacation with family! Liz wants us not to believe our eyes rather what she tells us is true. Lastly , it should be down by any guess that during the months of the winter , the becomes a property that caters to some of society's lets say most challenged people. It is impossible that\nWith eight months out of the year being populated by this type of clientele that the property is not badly affected by that. We checked in at 4:15 with Kathy and she explained the layout of the land and how everything worked. She told us breakfast was from 8-10am and asked if we needed restaurant recommendations (which was nice) but we already had reservations somewhere. We stayed in room 15, which was very cute. The decor was lovely and the bathroom was a great size (with a powerful shower!). After dinner we came back to our room to just relax and watch some TV. The bed was comfy enough, a bit hard for me, but that's just my preference as my husband slept soundly. You can hear some of the other tenants as I heard someone snoring all night long, and then a woman on the phone in the morning. The breakfast was delicious, maybe a tad limited, but a lot of it is homemade (by Kathy!) like the french toast bake and a waffle egg with everything bagel seasoning (go for that!). Overall, my husband and I had a lovely stay and would recommend the Carriage House to anyone!

They dont have a fridge in the room but they have a big fridge downstair in the kitchen area. This place lends you complimentary beach chairs and towels. Also you can get a beach pass for $6 (if you buy it from the beach entrance its $9) Their breakfast was pretty good. They gave out home baked chocolate chip cookies in the evening and they were delicious! It was a "perfect" place for a quiet and relaxing mother daughter getaway!

Really convenient to everything at Long Branch Beach. First a shout out to Guest Experiences Manager Kate Fowler who took care of helping us with reservations to multiple events and stayed in touch throughout. She was awesome. Always friendly, courteous and helpful. Next Front Desk Nicole who went way beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay, with directions, advice and was a huge reason for a great stay. She is a keeper and will help with anything you need. She works the afternoon shift and even though the peak check-in, will take her time to explain everything in great detail. The Property is easy to find and with a convenient initial park at the back of the hotel, then the card to enter the garage right behind with free in/out parking included in your daily rate. Having covered parking on hot days is a must (PS if you check out, you can park in the 30 minute parking spots until you leave). Another tip, don't struggle with the trolley trying to enter the Hotel as there is a slight bump in the rear door to negotiate. Just go Infront and pull your trolley and it's much easier to enter. The lobby is fab and has entertainment for all. From a pool table, to soccer table and comfortable seating. Its where breakfast pastries and coffee/tea is provided and has a small bar. There is one elevator given the size of the Property but access using the stairs is easy. Rooms are spacious, housekeeping is done daily and there is little you need once in your rooms. Now another tip. Your stay allows access to the WAVE resort and to its private beach, pool and gym. You have to show your room key and will be issued armbands. Note that it's a 10-15 minute walk and not immediately close by but well worth the visit. Alex Warren manages the Property and is really helpful to show you around. From the Hotel it is a block to the Pier Shopping Center and the most awesome restaurants around. The beach is clean and so is the boardwalk. Book early and Kate can help with suggestions. Wonderful stay at this Property and we plan to return again and again.

Not to mention the special band-aids when he got cut... and 100 other kid friendly moments. The four stories of this beautiful old mansion look right over the ocean. As in, you can throw a ball into the ocean from your room. Pluses - tons of little amenities. Plenty of towels, basket downstairs of shampoo/towels for post-beach shower even after check out, small library , fun and funky art on walls, laid-back and young, fun staff; dog Roscoe who hangs out, 100 nooks and crannies, both indoors and out, to hang out. Yogurts, various pastries and coffee/juice included. Towels for beach and big quilts if you want them. Just a great wraparound service place at the beach. The air conditioner is ice cold for those who need it, and they have a cool system where you put a little cap into the vent and you can block the air as well. Easy! Cons- The bed was not awful, but one of the less comfortable beds I've slept on in a lodging I've paid for. Also, no bathtubs. But I didn't ask. Oh, and if you go on Sunday, be aware that in this believin' town, the beaches are closed til post-worship 12:30 pm. Next time, I'd book earlier, skip the ocean view, and get the room with shared bath- that would be a real steal at the Ocean Vista! Will be back...

Splinter HELL, I hope you don't want ice…read more This hotel was fantastic at first, especially the corner pool terrace suite. Easy access to the pool, large and lots of light. But my god, it is splinter hell. Us, along with 3 other families that we knew of, were realizing at the pool that us and our kid's feet were completely full of splinters. We spent a total of about 3 hours at the pool over 2 days and my four year old had over 50 splinters in each foot! I had about 10 and spouse a few less. My four year old will not even let me look at his foot, nevertheless remove the splinters - yeah right. I think we are going to need to get sedated. This has ruined the stay to be honest. The hotel also didn't have tweezers. At least two families complained and nothing seemed to be done about it. The deck is extremely dry. This wouldn't be a hard problem to solve. ICE. I requested ice about 20 different ways, because there is no ice machine so they say just request it: - through the app on their tablet (3x, nothing) - through calling the front desk (2x, nothing) - in person at the front desk (2x, nothing) - through text to the front desk (4x, nothing) - in person to the person that came to the room one night (2x, 1x worked!) I got ice once, woohoooooo! The tablet is a joke. I needed an extra bedsheet and requested it through the tablet and it never came. In person at the front desk it did, however. Beautiful hotel, but the splinters ruined it. You could not pay ME to stay somewhere that my autistic kid gets 100 splinters in his feet. The hotel is feeling a bit neglected in some ways. Our "terrace" had algae on the deck area, one couch cushion had a big brown spot and there was half of a DEAD BIRD on our terrace. It was there the whole time. Of course my 4 year old was enthralled.Yay.
