So disappointed in the shape the property was in for the price. Over $350. off season for 1 night. You could smell the mold in the hall ways. You also couldn't enjoy having the windows open because of the mold in the sills. I asked for new sheets as mine looked disheveled under the bed spread that had stains on it. This is such a lovely place to stay! I'm so glad I found The Quaker Inn and made a beach vacation out of visiting a friend's hometown for an engagement party. The innkeeper I spoke to when I made my reservation (I called before doing so since I had a few questions) was very helpful and patient. I believe his name was Kevin. The weekend I stayed there, Jeremy was on duty and he was very helpful and courteous. Our room was lovely and our bathroom was huge. The porches on multiple levels are so nice and a great spot to relax. We paid such a great price for being so close to the beach and on a main street of town. They have AC too, which is really nice and not found in every older house/inn around town. I hope to return to The Quaker Inn and explore more of Ocean Grove! read more

The Quaker Inn is an old-school, not fancy inn. These Ocean Grove inns were built 100+ years ago to give an affordable seaside vacation for working and middle-class City people. That's the foundation and it isn't so different today. The Quaker Inn is basic but wonderful. Sitting on the many porches is cool. It's clean. There are coffee, teach, ice, and cookies for free. They have beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels to borrow. It has AC. It's near the beach and downtown Ocean Grove (go to Seagrass for dinner!). The owner and staff are present and responsive. We've stayed in the big rooms (# 1 and # 3) and some of the small rooms. The big rooms are nice, with a small table and space to spread out. The small rooms are quite small - they are little more than a place to rest your head. read more

Only two blocks from the beach and very reasonable prices. Each room is different but it all carries that old-fashioned feeling. Coffee and tea served in the morning and made freshly everyday! Innkeepers are very personable and easily reachable in person and on the phone. They act as concierges when necessary for newbies in the area, which was very useful! Located a stones throw from the ocean the Quaker Inn is a lovely traditional bed and breakfast. While not a luxury experience the inn has wonderful charm. Each room has air conditioning and firm beds also the water pressure is excellent. The proprietor is kind and very helpful and happy to provide whatever you may need. A friend and I stayed at Quaker Inn this past weekend. We were in Room 11. Small room, two twin beds, large closet, dresser, small television (remote control does not adjust the volume), small fridge and microwave. Bathroom was sizeable and shower had great water pressure. Window AC did a great job of keeping the room cool. The room is at the back of the hotel and we did not hear any noises from other rooms or outside. Other areas of the hotel were very nice--front reception area with comfortable couches and chairs, beautiful decor and fireplace. Small kitchenette area where coffee and tea are served in the morning. Another sitting area with a large TV, several small tables with chairs, comfortable armchairs, books, games and puzzles. Also a public bathroom so you don't have to go upstairs to your room. Large front porch with rocking chairs was a great place to hang out and chat. I didn't have much interaction with the innkeepers but they seemed very nice and helpful. The inn is centrally located on Main Avenue, just a couple of blocks from the beach, and walking distance from most of the wonderful shops. Very enjoyable weekend. Will definitely be back! read more

Wonderful stay for my parents at the Quaker Inn. The room and facilities are clean and management is incredibly accommodating, professional, and truly helpful. The location is amazing -- a block or so from the beach and right downtown, with a beautiful front porch (actually there are 3 porches!) with rocking chairs to enjoy being in one of the best beach towns on the East Coast. Quaint - Cute - Convenient and Clean. If you want luxury with all the amenities, this is not the place for you. If you want a cozy room that's surrounded by cute shops and restaurants, and minutes to the beach and boardwalk, Quaker Inn is a great place to stay. My husband and I spent two nights here. The room was small; basically a full size bed with enough room for a dresser and a night stand, a small closet and a bathroom. The only amenities were an a/c unit and a 12x12" tv. (Site advertises that some rooms have mini-fridges and a microwave. Our room did not. However, there was a small fridge and microwave in the hallway, i suppose for community use.) Having spent most of our time outside the hotel, a small room was perfectly fine. It was two blocks from the beach, and a half mile to the Stone Pony and other bars/restaurants. My only hang ups were a shower stale instead of a full shower/bath -- which, for a woman, makes shaving your legs difficult! -- and noise. It's an old historical building so the walls are a bit thin.. and our room was right next to the stairs to the lobby, so there was a lot of foot traffic waking us in the morning. For the price, over all comfort and cleanliness and most of all, the convenience, I would recommend Quaker Inn. read more

Me and my boyfriend have been staying here for 3 years, and all 3 years were wonderful! Cute, small rooms, that are clean and cozy. It is very affordable, its close to the beach, its right next to all the stores. The inn keepers are so so so sweet. We had an accident there with our vehicle (wasnt our fault) and they came out to help us. They talked to the police for us, they accommodated us with what we needed. Just a really nice place, when we come back to Ocean Grove we will always stay here. read more

clean and has frig and micro so it is bare bones but cheap (I was there off season and about the only one there) the staff is ok. the night desk woman was huffy when I asked for extra blanket--it was cold...and hangers for the closet (there were none) and then proceeded to tell me how people steal them. The Quaker Inn is affordable, is close to the beach and has a terrific central location on Main Avenue. I've been twice this summer - over July 4th weekend and again this weekend - and will definitely come back again. Especially if they continue to employ their terrific innkeeper, Heather Chalk Reed. Heather greets everyone with a quick smile. She has a cheery disposition, is incredibly patient, accommodating and helpful! Her husband Darrell works there too, mostly behind the scenes. And I think I remember them saying he actually DOES have a cousin Darrell. :) (Note: There are two Heathers. The other Heather's personality is quite the opposite. She's a young woman who is clearly not in the right business.) This is far from a luxury hotel and the rooms we've stayed in are VERY basic but also very good value and the place is charming, though the owners could definitely put a little more money into upkeep. The less expensive rooms are QUITE small and very basic but suited us fine as we didn't intend to spend much time in the rooms and were looking for an affordable option. Our group thoroughly enjoyed rocking on the rocking chairs and picnicking and hanging out on the front porch (and also on the upstairs balconies). For those who like firm mattresses, note that the Quaker Inn could use some new mattresses or at least bed boards. I'd heard from from friends to expect terrible coffee. They were thrilled to find that's changed since Heather and Darrell joined the Quaker Inn. Darrell makes the excellent coffee available in the morning. Other than coffee and hot water for tea, you're on your own. Some of the rooms - including ours - have mini fridges in the room. If yours doesn't there is a shared fridge where you can store items that require refrigeration. Based on two weekend stays this summer the Quaker Inn seems to attract laid-back friendly people. Ocean Grove is pretty small with a clean beach and it's an easy walk to both Asbury Park and Bradley Beach. (The OG beach doesn't open on Sundays till noon.) It's less expensive to purchase beach passes directly from the hotel. We'll be back! read more

Good price for the location and the window AC worked fine which is just as well as the window in our room, # 14 on second floor, face a wing of the hotel. When lying in the bed, my view upwards was of a cracked ceiling with what looked like water stains. read more
