I did not notice it on the website when I booked the room (my mistake!). If I had not paid in advance to get a slightly lower price (again, my mistake, having not seen the hotel), I would have left. The Hilton Garden Inn across the road, or (if you're determined to stick with the deteriorating Marriott brand) the Courtyard down the street, both have free parking. read more

Stayed here for business reasons and it was in Jan 2024. The room had a full kitchen; utensils, cookware, a coffee pot, a toaster, a dishwasher, dishes, and cups were provided. The hotel also provided dish detergent. It was a cool studio room. The bed was separate from the kitchen and chill (living room) area, basically a bed room. There was a desk with a lot of space which was pretty cool since it provided me with enough room to spread out work materials. I will say that the room had a bit of a smell, not a bad smell but you can smell it when you enter the room. The heater/air con was pretty loud but it was just white noise being used to loud sounds. This might be a problem for some folks if sensitive to loud noise. Pool wasn't open, there is a conference room, and small gym, and plenty of parking space. Breakfast was provided and it was great! Different menu every day but with the usual eggs, bacon, and sausage breakfast, and from what I remembered there was waffle and chicken (wings). That was surprisingly good. Coffee, juice (to-go style), milk. Tipping is optional for the kitchen staff. The front desk was helpful and it was a quick check-in and check-out. The only restaurant within walking distance (5 min) was TGI Fridays. If you drove there, there are nearby restaurants and shopping places to explore. Overall: 4/5 read more

Save your time, too many better hotels in the area! First the 12/day parking is an absolute ripoff!!! When you use the webpage, they deceptively hide the 12/day parking and you have to hit the Summary of Charges where it is not listed in the Total for Stay, but down at the bottom in 8-font: 12.00 USD daily. And that summarizes their deceptive practices and policies. Things such as, breakfast is only until 8:30AM weekly and 9:30AM Weekends: So they can save money and not take care of their guests. Second, they would not let me change my reservation from a 5-night stay to 4 nights as they were, "booked solid". I argued that I was not asking for an additional day, just remove one. I had to call Corporate to get the reservation changed. After that, we constantly received upgrade notices for a supposedly, "sold out" hotel. BTW, we came an went at all times including coming in at 1:00AM and the parking lot maybe had 1/3 cars parked there. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND AGGRAVATION! read more

Only stayed here during covid. They should of reduced prices given no pool no fitness no breakfast and no afternoon receptions. They provided breakfast bags in which they would fill with milk, vending machine pastries, yogurt and kiddie juice boxes. Place was packed because utility workers stay here. They couldnt provide a list of nearby restaurants besides tgif and an Asian place. Do not absolutely do not stay at this hotel right now they just started a two week roof renovation project with absolutely zero notice to the guest. The roofers showed up even earlier than we were told. They are loud and they take up all of the parking area. This is going to be a mess. If you have booked here you should cancel and move to a different hotel. I've been staying at this hotel for over a month due to home renovations. Prior to this it was pretty decent. Other than facilities being closed for Covid which by this time they should've already been opened. Such as the pool... The staff is generally very good and helpful. The last few days not so much. But things seem to be a little out of control. For an extended stay hotel rooms are very comfortable and generally very quiet and the kitchen is decent. You have to make sure you get the room that works for you. For example my first room was on the ground floor right by a basketball court so people from the basketball court could see into the room. That was not to my liking so I relocated to an upper floor. Only to find a man in a crane at my window level yesterday morning! All in all I would say it's pretty decent but I have had no opportunity to evaluate the breakfast or the pool. The gym is good. Hotel is under a full renovation (9/22/20). We stayed on the 4th floor which is always great to not have people above you. They were remodeling the second floor during our stay. The website gives no information regarding limited amenities during the Covid era but here is the scoop: the pool is not available. Fitness room is closed. First floor bathrooms are closed. Breakfast area is closed. They offer a grab-n-go breakfast bag. You can get a small bottle of water, yogurt cup, piece of fruit, a pastry or muffin. See my photo of the breakfast items. You're better off getting something from McDonalds across the street. No coffee in the lobby. You can brew your own in the room but it's that horrible Rainforest Brand that's in every Marriott. Although it claims to contains some 100% Arabica beans it tastes like it is back filled with burnt wheat like they used to use for cowboy coffee in the 1800s. If you are looking for the usual complimentary microwave popcorn in the room, you'll need to bring your own. I asked a couple desk clerks if they had any popcorn and was told they aren't ordering it anymore because of Covid. Well I'm not sure what Covid has to do with popcorn, but there you have it. Here are some tips about the renovation. They have new showers which are quite nice except the glass wall near the shower head and handle can't move. So to turn on the shower, you'll need to step in the shower and turn the shower head toward the wall to avoid getting a blast of cold water when the shower starts. But the water heated up real quick! Next thing you'll notice about the shower is that despite having a large rubber seal between the stationary and moving glass door, it leaks water onto the floor. So be careful getting out of the shower that you don't slip on the water. I recommend using the floor mat towel to soak up the water in the floor while you shower. read more

Really well kept residence inn and a bit different in layout (one large connected building as oppose to campus type setup). The parking was real tight as we took the last spot very late in the night but I suspect you could park across the street at he adjoining strip mall. The breakfast area and the seating is really above average - quite a few tables and arrangements for family to eat together. We stayed here during winter but saw the covered pool - large with additional hoop are. Overall good stay and good property. read more

This updated review is for Paola from the front office. We stayed at Residence Inn by Marriott in Silver Spring in 2014 for around four months. We've moved twice since and we are in CA now. I expected a package and it was late. I checked tracking - yes, it had been delivered to the Marriott. I had not updated my new address info. Oh crap, I'll never get it now. And it's even chartreuse. I looked up the Resident Inn website for their number. I was trying to "dial" the number and was irritated when a call came in at the same time. Caller ID said RES INN. I thought it was me dialing. Then I realized it was "RES INN" calling ME.. It was Paola. Calling at the exact same time. I heard the Twilight Zone theme song in my head... Yes, our package had been delivered to the Marriott. I think they were going to return to sender or something, but Paola remembered us Five years, and she remembered. She was able to pull up our info, and she even called my cell number to let us know... our package was safe. She remembered our suite number and everything! Paola went above and beyond, and my package was safely sent to to our CA home a few days later. All because of Paola. Thank you! Paola is my super hero. Her cape is chartreuse. read more

We had a great 3 night stay at this hotel. The front desk staff were absolutely pleasant and so accommodating. We arrived 2 hours before check-in and although check in was not until 3 they were able to get us a room within 30 minutes of our arrival. I did request early check in via the Marriott app but also am aware that the request may not always be honored and is based on availability. So was thrilled that we could settle in early. Bonus points because this hotel was literally within walking distance to a target, Aldi's and Starbucks. Very easy to find also once you got off highway. The hotel also had a fire pit outside, basketball court and pool. We did not use the pool as it was a little cool for us but our party did use the basketball court and fire pit. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with 2 bathrooms and it was perfect for our stay. Our suite was definitely updated and had everything we needed. There was free grab and go breakfast which we appreciated and used during our stay. Overall great location and will definitely book again if we are in the area. read more

The initial person I dealt with when trying to book our rooms was completely incompetent and gave me three different prices over the course of the HOUR we were on the phone. I then asked to speak to a manager who agreed to honor the last price I had agreed upon with the previous staff member. I called a few days before our arrival just to make sure everything was in place only to be told yet another price. I ended up paying almost $400 over our original agreed price! But I just wanted thing to go smooth. When we arrived the woman checking us in asked for a credit card to have on hold. My bag was in the car but I had my bank debit card on me. I asked her if she was going to charge the room on it or just have the card on file because I ultimately wanted to put the 3 day stay on a different card. She told me nothing was going to be charged on the card. By the time I got to my room I had already received a notice from my bank that my checking account was overdrawn by $680 dollars. I had to wait 5 days for the money to be replaced in my checking Although we had booked 2 adjoining rooms we were now being told that was not possible. Our room absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. The day we checked out we pulled around to the front entrance of the hotel so I could return key cards and make sure our bill was paid. Right in front of the hotel one of the desk staff was berating 2 maids. I felt terrible for them. How embarrassing to be scolded out in public! Hope they get their act together. read more

I do not know how anyone sleeps here. The walls are paper thin and you hear EVERYTHING. I'm not talking about the occasional dog barking or kid crying next door, I am talking about just people walking (stomping??) around next to you and above you. Poor neighbors aside (keep in mind this is an extended stay so it's not just a bad night, but poor sleep for WEEKS straight) I'm not sure what renovation past reviews talked about because the tile floor is dingy, complete with crayon marks and other crud. There was a roach in the kitchen. I let the manager know and he came to my room but didn't see it as it disappeared behind the fridge. He then proceeded to brush it off as if I was lying because he didn't see the roach himself, as if I was supposed to catch it and show it to him. Generally I tried to stay loyal that's not Mariott. But since my employer decided to book a group of us here, I didn't have much of a choice. I've been here just shy over 2 months and I'm quite impressed and enjoyed everyday here. It was like my 2nd home. This is a very good place if you're in the nearby area for a class, or of the unfortunate displaced from your home. Miriam, the GMs, the Front Desk staff, the kitchen staff, the cleaning staff all have been friendly, courteous and hard working. The only gripe I have is maybe with the chief engineer (Mr. Flores). I was hoping he knew the fire alert system inside and out, and let the hotel staff days/swing/night of the progress. I would absolutely would come back here if it was for leisure for work! I booked a room for a night through Priceline because it allowed dogs. I showed up to find out there's a $125 pet fee, which is not shown anywhere in the shopping experience on Priceline. Pet fees are fine, but not when it's more than the room itself. I had stayed 4 nights straight at other hotels the previous nights, and fees were all $10-20. Of course, they wouldn't let me cancel my reservation. I had nowhere else to stay for the night, so I was forced to make a choice between losing $100 and no room, or $225 for a night at this glorified motel basically. What a rip off. read more

We were supposed to stay for two weeks. The first night there was constant noise from the room above us, people running back and forth across the floor and heavy objects being dropped on the floor. This literally went on non-stop for hours. I called the desk three times and went there once. They claimed they were dealing with it but the noise didn't stop until around 1am. We left the next morning. I told the person at the desk why we were leaving so early but she seemed uninterested. And they never sent me a link so I could review the hotel on the Marriott site. Amazing staff! The rooms are nice and clean and the location is convenient, closer to target than their website says, but what makes this a great place to stay is the staff. We were in an emergency situation where we had to get out of our apartment for a couple days and the staff here couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating- they let us check in early, check out late , book for longer than we might need and then cancel with no fee because we didn't know how long construction would last, and they gave us a lower rate than their website listed. They said " we treat our guests like family here" and that's exactly how we felt. I can't say enough good things about them. read more

This is a very nice, huge hotel. My room was very nice and clean (I am a fan of Residence Inns). It had a clean bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. There is a fantastic free buffet breakfast in the morning. There's plenty of free parking. NOTE: There is NO free wi-fi in the rooms, only the cable internet. So, if that's an issue for you, don't stay here. There IS free wi-fi in the lobby. There's a coin laundry that's was very useful. The one thing I don't like about certain Residence Inns (this one included), is that there are no king beds. It's all either 2 bedroom suites, or 1 queen bed. The 2 bedroom suites are expensive. The suites are very big, so I don't know why they don't have king beds. Because of the no king beds and no room wi-fi, I am only giving it 4 stars - otherwise, it definitely would have been a 5 star rating from me! We arrived here this past Sunday afternoon following the big storm leaving 1.3 million residents of MD/DC/VA without power AND right in the middle of a very large family reunion and yet we were still greeted and made comfortable by the staff on duty which is quite a feat under these circumstances. They have made our 2 and 4 legged family feel right at home and we are appreciate of their hospitality under most trying times as the power in this area is still out for many and there are workers here at the hotel from many states and the hotel is stretched thin. read more

After the huge power outages in D.C., this place was my boyfriend and I's final stop before possibly having to sleep in our car with a cat in nearly 100 degree weather. Thank god we tried again once power was restored to the area because the room was exactly what we needed. The staff was efficient, the room was newly renovated, clean, and spacious, and each night would have only been $119 had the hotel not had a $100 fee for pets. After the cat peed accidentally while we were away, we couldn't argue with that either though. The only problem that occurred was my boyfriend's debit card was charged over $300 for one night because of a rather strange debit card policy, but we were assured that the remaining balance would be restored to the account once the transaction went through. This hotel did the best they could during a really crowded and stressful day, so I'd stay here again, just not use a debit card if possible. read more

I have stayed at the Silver Spring Residence Inn for multiple business trips to the nearby government agencies. The staff have always been accommodating and friendly, the lobby spotless, the overall ambience perfect for business class travel and although suites they feature are more expensive than just a room with bed, the kitchen does offset meal prices. They also offer a breakfast buffet I have found very good. I would recommend this to fellow travelers in the area, but would add that I believe they only offer suites with a small sofa/living room and kitchenette (just fyi in case you are not looking for that type of accommodation). read more

For hotel buffet, they were really good compared to other Marriotts like it. But went downhill from there. Played hot water lottery - sometimes got a hot shower, sometimes didn't. Called to get the faucet on the tub replaced. The stopper for the shower didn't work well. The request was ignored. Was scheduled to be there for 2 weeks. Decided that wasn't worth the pain so found another place after 2 nights. To top it off the fire alarm woke me an hour early on the last morning. I have been working for a large hospital in the DC area and living at this hotel for several months. I can't say enough about the staff!! Helpful, kind, efficient and pleasant doesn't do them justice. The hotel is centrally located, has a nice pool and the updated rooms are plus. Love having not only breakfast in the morning but dinner is also provided M-W. This place is HEAVEN!! Thanks to Carol, Lucena, Shannon, Morgan, Ronnie and the rest of the staff. I checked the reviews here and thought this hotel would be great. Come to find out? It WAS great! Pretty cheap prices, depending on when you reserve. I got 3 nights at this place with my girlfriend. We came in, and a woman named Maria checked us in. She didnt look too happy, but maybe she had a rough morning? I didnt mind too much. I asked her if I can pay half on my credit card and the other half in cash, she said sure. She gave us 2 cards for our room then we went our ways. This hotel looks very nice, the ambiance looked somewhat upscale. We went to our rooms, first thing I see is a full kitchen with a dishwasher, fridge, microwave and everything else thats in an average kitchen. Queen size bed with a decent tv with cable, very spacious rooms. Bathroom was good. All was clean. Buffet breakfasts, which is always a plus. Courtyard in the middle of the hotel with a pool. All was great here, including the customer service. Out of all, I have to say Ronnie and Lucena was very helpful in information and was very professional. All was good, except the exercise room. Only 4 treadmills and 2 other machines..... Though there was 1 problem that occurred during my weekend visit there, all was fixed and Ronnie has reassured me everything will be just fine. Room was clean; housekeeping was very friendly and professional; however, manager and assistant manager customer service was horrible. Manager was very rude. Twice tried to deal with her and rather than behaving like she was happy that I chose her hotel to stay, instead she acted like she did not care if I stayed or left. In fact, she requested for me to leave because I complained about her attitude and demeanor. I kept complaining about the folks in the room above me bouncing balls at midnight, 1-2am, and the assistant manager said that I should not threaten to go upstairs and knock on their door because they are paying customers who are entitled to be there as well?? I was not there on vacation; I was there because my house burnt down and lost pretty much everything and the insurance put me up there. But she was extremely rude. And the icing on the cake was when I ordered clothing online and the tracking confirmed that the package was delivered to the hotel for me. Even in their log book it stated that it was delivered and that someone delivered to my room which they did not, but they lost my package - whether they delivered to the wrong room or someone from the staff took it, I don't know. What I do know is that my package was never found and the assistant manager said that unless I requested a signature and I can show that a hotel staff person signed for it, that they are not liable??? Of course the company would not send me another package free of charge because the package was delivered so I had to order and pay for the second time because of their mistake/theft. The hotel has insurance so there was no reason why they couldn't have reimburse me for the package since the log book had that a package was delivered. So in conclusion I had to deal with rude management and the theft of my parcel. I would never again do any business at a Marriott Residence Inn. Have always stayed at full service Marriott only. This was my first and my last. Management needs some serious coaching/training because they lack customer service. read more

I was here three separate weeks (here weekdays, home weekends) with three kids. We had a two bedroom suite, which was the perfect size. Most importantly- this place is very clean! Overall, the property seems well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. The pool is nice and has a lifeguard. All of the staff members were exceptionally friendly, hospitable and accommodating. They treated me more like family than a resident. Staff is always pleasant., helpful, friendly and responsive and rooms are well appointed. HOWEVER, this is a "pet-friendly" establishment, meaning that an irresponsible pet owner can cause problems for other hotel guests. One time my stay here was perfect. Another time, there were pet smells in some of the hallways (although staff always seemed to be cleaning) and I had to change rooms because someone had left two dogs alone in the room above me and they were running around and barking after 10 p.m. at night. (Staff sent up a security guard (I was not the only one notifying them) and called owner, who turned out not to be home and said dogs were probably upset by fact that security guard had knocked on the door. Once again, the staff was terrific and found another room for me. The three stars is a warning for people who may prefer not to have an establishment that allows pets, given the risks. read more
