I have this ptsd from when my grandmother was in a facility and was pleased to see that it really felt like an apartment building. I loved to see that just because it is assisted living it wasn't taking away from residents still living their lives and having a nice apartment to feel like home. In fact, I loved that there wasn't a ton of staff around because I think that's why the vibe was so much more like a regular apartment. Knowing that she may live like she's independent but has an alert and someone is right there when she needs someone is a relief as well. I definitely would recommend anyone looking for a facility for a loved one to consider prairie place.

Her room smelled like urine every trip I made, her room was hardly cleaned and when we moved her it certainly appeared they had never cleaned under her bed or other areas. That's just one of several issues... Staff did not adequately respond to facility alarms which enabled my mother to elope from the facility twice without staff knowledge. The police had to be called to find her. Terrible Terrible place. Do not leave your loved ones in their care.

My mother specifically told an attendant to be sure and place a mattress next to the bed when she left for the day. They did not. My father had numerous lacerations on his head and leg. Then when it was time for a refund for days not used due to his death; we had to make 4 phone calls over 8 weeks, plus threaten them with a lawyer to get our refund.
