I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. If I do wake up, I can fall back asleep easily, and I'm even dreaming a lot which I take as a sign I'm finally getting deep, restful sleep. I've seen such drastic improvements that I genuinely feel like I have a new baseline. I feel so much more in control of my anxiety now and honestly like a completely different person than I was just a few months ago. It's been truly life changing. I honestly wish I could see her weekly. The closest way I can describe how you feel leaving a session is like you just had a massage; you're so relaxed, grounded, and at ease. Marisa has truly touched my life. She is genuinely an angel. She listens, she cares deeply, and she is incredibly dedicated to her clients. If she doesn't have an answer right away, she always follows up, whether by email or the next time you see her, which says so much about the level of thought and attention she gives. I don't feel comfortable around many people, but there's something about her energy that is so light and reassuring. She creates such a safe, welcoming environment, and it makes all the difference. And after I got my doula matches and picked the one that seemed the best fit, I had my first appointment with her, which was just heart warming. I felt like there was structure and expertise behind my anxieties. We got stuff done right away that had been on my mind - my birth plan, my feeding plan, how we'd handle unexpecteds. And then I kept engaged before birth and she helped with regular but sometimes hard things around my house and life leading up to birth. She was there when I got to the hospital and supported both of us with her experience. At the end of the day, your OBGYN is running room to room putting out fires, and your nurses change shifts + don't know you. Having someone consistent who is deeply experienced - TRAINED - was just amazing. While at the hospital she worked through techniques to manage my discomfort (pain), she made sure the hospital staff knew my wishes from soup to nuts, and during birth she was there with us. That would have been plenty to give this review, but I was covered for care after birth too, so she was able to continue providing help with several home visits after I brought my baby home, from feeding to sleep techniques. I also actually found her professional judgement extremely helpful when she asked me some clinical but personal questions about my mental health about 2 months in. I realized I was actually following a very common postpartum depression path and experiencing it, and she identified it, and helped me find the resources - including her but also external - that helped me manage it and not become consumed by it. And so I am just so thankful overall, everything was so much better when I think about how it would have been.
