Well, they did it again! Andrew and his crew did a wonderful on my new fence as they did with my new deck a few months ago. The men were conscientious and very hardworking. They took down my old fence and put up a new, beautiful one. They left my backyard and front yard spotless as well. Andrew is amazing! I had the " Owner" Andrew come to my house and I've me an estimate on gutting and re-sheetrock two rooms . A bedroom and back hallway. The back hall had to be done due to a leak. Both big jobs! Was given a quote, agreed with it , was ready to set a schedule and Andrew( The Boss) never got back to me. Nothing , ignored my calls , my texts everything. I've done business with them in the past and was very satisfied . Andrew made it sound like he was going to sell the business. Guess not , Unh! Thanks for your honesty and professionalism Andrew! Responsbile?? Would you call installing skylights without sealing the ceiling responsible? Would you call letting the soffits FALL responsible? This was by far one of the worst companies we have ever dealt with. They were hired by lowes to install our skylights and they left huge gaps in the ceiling with led to part of the ceiling falling and refused to finish the job or do the repairs. How well can you rate a company that doesn't return your calls ? I called them about needing help with roofing, siding, masonry, doors, gutters, etc. I called 4 times and never got the courtesy of a return call. Quite ironic that their name is "responsible" - they're far from it. read more

We had a small leakage in my roof in one small area. We hared company Responsible Remodeling. After they repaired and we paid $250. Roof still leaks, but even in less area. After I called Andrew company representative he told me that our roof needs more extensive repair and we agree. The job was done we paid 1050$. the roof starts leaking in 2 adjusting area much bigger than it leaked before all repairs. We contacted the company again. Andrew told us that the roof is very old and needs complete re-installation for 3-4 thousand $. This roof was installed 20 years ago, which is not old for shingles roof and the second layer was put less than 10 years ago. I called the company numerous times to try to speak to any person in charge and left massage, but nobody returns my calls. The company which is called Responsible Remodeling apparently not responsible for their job. read more

This company replaced my roof some 5 years ago. Less then 1 month later some of the gutters starting falling off. The worker who came in told me that the screws and nails they've used were not long enough. He put in new once and they stayed till Sandy which must've loosed them. Half a year after Sandy, I called them twice to come in and re-attach them, fully intending to pay whatever was required. Both times I was told I'm going to get a callback from a representative. No one ever called me back. I called another company, who came right away, took 20 minutes to fix the gutters and charged $65 for it. So Responsible was not so responsible in the long run. They may not care about the $65, but they should care about lost referrals. read more

I got a new roof in 1997 and I had problems with my roof leaking since that time, but only when we would have prolonged, constant rain for a day or two. Over the years I had called the original roofer plus a few other roofers, and wouldn't know it wasn't fixed until the next giant storm, sometimes months or years apart! I called this company, Responsible Remodeling, and Sergio got to the bottom of my problem--he discovered that the original roofer, (Garden City Aluminum) had done a good job overall, EXCEPT for this one 9x12' section where there was NO TAR PAPER under the shingles! He is an honest man and doesn't rip you off like all the others, PLUS he stands by his work and doesn't give up. read more

We recently had the old siding replaced on our house. We are extremely happy with how the work was done and feel like we have a new house. Doug was very easy to get in touch with and returned all calls promptly. The workers showed up early and stayed late. They started the job and came every day until it was finished. I purchased a home in September that had prior roof work done from Responsible Remodeling. I'll preface my review by saying I'm not 100% sure that the area I currently have a leak in is the area that was worked on by this company. I believe it is, as the area had a second set of shingles on the roof, but that fact is irrelevant in regards to my comments. I contacted Doug, who I believe is the owner several months ago to inquire about having our leak looked at and adding that I thought it might be under warranty because before we bought the house the previous owner had a warranty repair done at our request. He said he wasn't sure but would have someone contact me to set something up. Weeks went by and I received no contact. I emailed the company and weeks went by with no contact. I placed another call to Doug and he said someone would contact me again to set something up. Again, weeks of no contact. Now today, I just got off the phone with Doug from responsible remodeling. He said someone would contact me. I asked if someone would actually call me this time since I've tried this several times before. He then informed me that he didn't call me back because he thought I was insisting on a warranty repair. I told him that I didn't know if it was or not, and had said as much previously. He assured me that he would have someone contact me for a "paid," repair. I said that regardless of whether it's paid or not, it's not a reason to disregard a customers call. He said he misunderstood my intention and would have someone call me for a paid repair. I told him to forget about it because I wouldn't let someone work on my home that makes decisions about returning a customers call based upon if the customer wanted warranty service or not. I don't understand how one can run a business in this manner. And I certainly wouldn't advise anyone who has had work done by this company to expect their warranty to be honored based on this attitude. read more

Over the course of the past year, I have used Responsible Remodeling for several jobs involving both interior and exterior work. I couldn't be happier with their work, their pricing and their customer service. They are very easy to reach and to work with, and every project they have done for us has turned out beautifully. The owner, John, is personally involved in most of the customer contact unless it would be easier for the customer to deal directly with the job coordinator, and unlike most contractors, they don't ask to be paid until the job is done! I have only good things to say about Responsible - the experience was positive from start to finish. John walked us through the project, gave us a very reasonable price and showed us ways we could save money without compromising the end result. This was not an easy project - we have a very old home and a very steep roof. The workers worked 11 hours per day, through hot, humid weather, constructing scaffolding, removing two layers of existing shingles and creating a new sub-roof. They were exceptionally polite and left the premises in pristine condition. The new roof is a masterpiece. By the way, John was in touch with us throughout the project to address all of our concerns. Last summer we decided to install vinyl siding on our 100+ year old Victorian home. We talked to many home improvement companies but decided to go with Responsible Remodeling. They made us feel comfortable that our most important investment would be handled with care and respect. It is also important to note that their prices were extremely competitive. My house went from the ugliest on the block to the most beautiful. Every detail was attended too. Even though we had a very specific estimate, any little extra that we ask for was done with a smile and without adding any additional cost to the job. The owner checked in with us everyday and was always on hand to make sure the job was being done right and to make sure we were satisfied. It is always stressful to let a perfect stranger come to your home to do work because you never know how it will turn out.
