I've been doing CrossFit for over 6 years now and after sustaining a non-CrossFit related injury, I had to go see a chiropractor for the first time ever. Sean is fantastic. I saw him consistently for a year when I was doing CrossFit and BJJ in Chicago, and he gave great advice and adjustments on some spine, hip, and shoulder issues I was having. For two-years, I struggled with misdiagnosed running injuries. I've been seeing Dr. Sean off and on for the last two years to address chronic pain stemming from lots of old, unaddressed injuries that have resulted in deficiencies in strength and mobility--and the results have been amazing. One example: Last week I saw him about foot pain I was having--I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis for over a decade--and he traced the source of the problem and gave me a few simple things to work on. That tiny bit of foot and ankle mobility I've gained from working on my calves the last three days has made a huge difference. I'm walking with less pain and feel less restricted in general--I do front squats yesterday and I can't remember that movement ever feeling so easy. Big fan of Dr. Cooney. I used to go to Peak Performance up the street, and the experience went like this: No matter how early/on-time I was I'd sit and wait, and wait, and then they'd hand me my chart and tell me to go lay down in a room, and then the doctor would tornado in, adjust me, and send me on my way. Total time at the clinic was like 30 minutes, total time with the chiropractor was about 3 minutes. Not to mention he only occasionally fixed what was actually bothering me (chronic headaches and sharp pains in my upper back), and then would say to come back the next week. Visits with Dr. Cooney are always highly personalized and effective. If it's just an adjustment, I can be in and out in 10 minutes. I rarely get headaches anymore, and he was able to diagnose and treat the sharp pain in my upper back which my previous doctor treated with no results for 6 weeks. The best part is he is trying to treat you in such a way that you stay healthy and don't need frequent adjustments. We got to the point where I was only coming in for maintenance/preventative adjustments every few months, and then I started jiu-jitsu and now we've got a few new problems to work on... but unlike previous chiropractors the goal was to get me healthy, not to get me coming back. read more

Yesterday I was in a lot of pain and frantically was calling everyone in the Gold Coast / old Towne area and luckily Dr Sean just happened to be in the office. He saw me walking, I told him i tried calling, and he told me to walk in. By emergency I mean I was literally walking like I was Yoda without the cane. Dr. Sean then explained to me in great detail what was wrong. Which was good. I was scared something was terribly wrong. He did a fair amount of soft tissue work, stretched , and then an adjustment. Dr. Sean Cooney is extremely personable and compassionate about what he does. He goes above and beyond trying to make sure that his patients understand not just what the problem is, but thoroughly breaks down the anatomy and the physiology as to why. I have been an athlete involved in sports my whole life and recently have been dealing with knee and shoulder pain that have been affecting my workout routine. Since I am still active, it is important to me that I can sustain a pain free workout and subsequently get stronger. Sean was able to pinpoint and solve my injuries almost instantly.
