Service 1.5/5: When we arrived, the host was sassy and rude, and we waited over 1 HOUR for our food to arrive from the time we ordered. The only saving redemption of me not giving service a 1/5 was our server Paddy, who was one of the friendliest servers I've ever had. Food 2.5/5: The drinks were good, and steamed clam appetizer was good. However, the main courses (Sturgeon and Duck Confit) that we waited over an hour for were not good at all. I was hoping that after waiting for so long, the food would be at least average. However, it was honestly pretty bad. The sturgeon was overcooked, burnt, and dry. We had a great early dinner (5:30p) here on a Saturday night while the hotel was hosting a wedding. We had made a reservation so we were seated right away and the hostess was kind enough to offer us a few options on tables. We opted for a table facing the water so we could watch the harbor seals pop up and dive back down as they foraged for their dinner. We had a Shirley temple and a French Blonde cocktail with their rosemary bread followed by a kids grilled cheese with fries, the burrata and calamari. Drinks were great. Oysters delicious- lil Lillies which are apparently local. Fish and chips was actually cod. It was good but a little salty for my taste (breading). Fish was good and crispy. Fries were sad and soggy but hey. Nice view. Not a lot open near here. Alicia the server is magnificent. I watched her interact with everyone while serving ALL of the bar tables as far as I could tell. She was nice to EVERYONE from the fancy dressed event folks to a local fisherman looking guy. What a lovely place for a nice dinner. Sitting in a window overlooking Hood Canal, we had exquisitely prepared salmon, pumpkin soup with cardamom cream, and delicious vegetables cooked perfectly. Nice place for a romantic meal. The best view is from the bar; ask for a corner window table if one is available. We sat at the same table the next morning for a yummy breakfast while watching the sun chase away an early morning fog to reveal fantastic blue sky and the glittering blue Hood Canal. read more

The restaurant we went is the outdoor dining. They do have burgers and sandwiches are also a little cheaper than in the inside restaurant because they have different menus. The staff were very nice though! And our good was food enough if you are okay to eat at the hotel. read more

The calamari appetizer was good but nothing else was special at all. 2 of the dishes were basically inedible. I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at this restaurant was unacceptable and deeply disappointing. From the moment we walked in, it was clear we were being treated differently based on our appearance. Our server, Michelle, seemed aloof and dismissive, and the lack of basic courtesy was undeniable. Service was inattentive throughout. While we watched other tables being offered fresh pepper and attentive service, we were completely overlooked. My partner even asked for pepper and was brought a table shaker. My order was incorrect, and instead of acknowledging the mistake, the server insisted that I had miscommunicated--something I know I did not do. There was no apology, and no accountability. The final straw was the broccoli brought out much later than my meal, due to the servers error, was charred beyond recognition. When I brought it to the server's attention, I was met with a curt, "That's how we serve it," with no offer to replace it or provide an alternative. No compensation, no concern, just complete disregard. The filet was good and prepared properly, however, the poor service greatly overshadowed the things that were right. Dining out should never feel this disheartening. I hope management takes feedback like this seriously, because based on this experience, we will not be returning, nor recommending this place to anyone. read more

We were a group of 9 ladies out for a nice lunch and some good conversation. Alderbrook was the perfect setting. We opted to sit on the patio. Our server, John, was great! Attentive without being overbearing, organized, he got all of our orders perfectly, and even knew all of our names by the end of the day! Our bartender, Gen, worked her magic and mixed some fabulous drinks. She even came over to our table and checked to see that we were enjoying ourselves. Was here for breakfast before & amazing, went full on with a filet cooked a perfect medium, very tender, although taste was just ok not really popping out, but adding the shrimp were very tasty, even the different potato fingers were tasty grilled with the nice sweet tasting onions. Once again the triple shot non-fat mocha with almond syrup (hardly anyone carries anymore but they do) complimented the meal with the pure tasting water. And even started my meal with a shot of Suntory Toki Whiskey, something not carried by most bars. Went here for my wife's birthday. It is a beautiful setting on the water. It is very clean and nice. We dressed up for the occasion as this is a nicer restaurant. If you have kids, they tend to put you in the back corner overlooking the other patio restaurant that doesn't have that great of a view. The staff there are very nice and accommodating. They were very attentive at refilling our water. I do wish that our son could've stayed in his stroller as he was sleeping although they told us that he couldn't because they didn't have room for it. When we got to the table, they definitely would've been plenty of room out of the way for him to sleep in the stroller. We started with the Manila clams, which are featured in the picture attached to this review. The clams were probably the best thing we ordered. They came with sausage and other things like cherry tomatoes, and rosemary. We really enjoyed our drinks. I ordered the Huckleberry lemon drop martini which was delicious. My daughter ordered the lavender lemonade that she enjoyed. For our main course, my wife ordered halibut with a side of filet mignon. My daughter ordered the New York steak with mashed potatoes. I ordered the garlic pasta with chicken. They don't put a protein on the pasta that is an additional add on which makes it even more expensive. All of the food was not hot and barely warm. There seem to be a leg in between our appetizer and the main course. They brought all the food out except for my daughter's food and they had to go back for it. My daughter was looking forward to the mashed potatoes and she said they weren't good at all. I enjoyed my garlic pasta, although the day after I'm not feeling good given that it has so much garlic that my stomach cannot handle it. It was disappointing that for how much we paid the food wasn't warm and it could've been better. We were not able to stay for dessert as our toddler was struggling and we didn't want to disturb other guests, although we did want to try the s'mores torte. My wife mentioned that other people received a cupcake for their birthday, although she didn't get hers. They were aware of her birthday as I had mentioned it in the reservation. It's definitely not worth it for the price and it's really difficult to bring kids there. The location is beautiful and I enjoy the hood canal. read more

Expensive dinner out for our 20th anniversary. Was mentioned in our reservation that we were celebrating. Walked into a half empty restaurant with several tables next to the windows with water views and the hostess sits us next to the stairwell. Then sits the very next couple in the table right behind us. I'm well over 6 feet tall so the lady has to bang into me to get into her chair. We had to move the table so I could get out without knocking stuff over. Dinner was good enough, very pricey, but the hostess ruined the whole thing. I get it if the place was packed. The Mother's Day buffet at Alderbrook was the mother of all rip-offs. I am disabled and I was forced to walk with my cane between 40 and 50 yards just to get to the long long tables of food. I was in actual pain before I got half way down the corridor where they placed the buffet. The price tag of $80 dollars a person with no senior discount was unjustified. The food was well prepared, but there is no way I ate even eight dollars worth of food. I was in distress and had to stop and rest before making my way back to the table. The grounds are beautiful, if you have a moment to walk thru make sure you do so. Our server was great and seating is comfortable. The dining room is open and most tables have a view of the dock, waterfront, and mountains. The food was great, expertly prepared from the duck to the berry crisp dessert with ice cream. Our overall experience was great. Especially the view and the service. Some of our food matched that quality and some did not. The Halibut was a wonderful dish, cooked beautifully and well seasoned. My friend who ordered the ribeye was impressed with the cook. Very hard to get right in a restaurant. The bolognese was pretty good, but more tomato and ricotta than meat. The fried oysters were tender and crunchy, but almost no sauce on the plate. Disappointing. The ceasar salad had a quality white anchovy, but almost no flavor or dressing beyond that. A bowl of crispy romaine. The duck entree had great accompaniments in the beans and frisee. However, the duck itself had flabby skin and a 1/3" layer of fat I had to cut off. Additionally, it wasn't seasoned. The ice cream was very light and airy, and light on flavor as well. A shame the food didn't all measure up, but with that view and great service we still had a lovely evening. read more

We visited via boat on a hot sunny day. As we came up the dock, we heard acoustic music on the deck. We enjoyed a variety of cocktails while listening to a local artist and soaking up the sun. I tried the Berry Habanero Infused Tequila Margarita. It was on the sweet side bit not super spicy, thankfully. Friends got the Frose' All Day and loved it. Another favorite was the Basil Gin Collins. The property is gorgeous, large majestic rooms, beautiful foliage hanging down, great spaces to hang out, enjoy the water & relax. This was a delightful surprise. The reviews weren't fantastic and I hadn't planned on dining here but we arrived too late and it was the best and closest option at a later hour. To my pleasant and unexpected surprise it was a fantastic experience. The food was delish (black cod pictured), bread and butter topped with sea salts for the table, the drinks on point (paper plane-pictured, sauv blanc, good drafts according to the bf), and great service with Zach (I think was his name). Oh and the food came out really fast! The shrimp was tasty but actually just reminded me of walnut shrimp you can get at any Chinese restaurant. The restaurant and property are also a great part of the experience. I highly recommend making this a stop especially to celebrate something special. Regarding the 20% comment in other reviews, our server was upfront in explaining it, it all made sense, I nearly always tip at least 20% anyhow as I once was a server so I'm fine with it. Everyone is doing their best to get through these challenging times, just go with it. If 20% makes such a big difference to you, you should consider staying home to prepare your food, serve it, clean up after yourself, and not be exposed during covid which is what all of these staff are doing for the community. The resort is amazing and the food looked great! However, the way the food tasted left a lot to desire. The butter and tacos were very salty, but they were okay. The crab cakes were nothing special, and I think the best part about the dish was the corn on the side. As for the ribeye, it was big and the sides it came with were very buttery and well cooked. The steak was also perfectly medium rare. However, overall the taste was very mediocre. The best part about the meal was their cocktails, which I would recommend getting. The resort is beautiful and relaxing. I was on a fun getaway with my husband. I was looking forward to having a nice meal with him. The food was ok. There was barely any crab in the pasta and was a very small portion, Louie salad was disappointing, instead of asparagus as it stated on the menu it had pickled green beans which overpowered everything. The service was very slow and lacked attention. We overheard the server next to us discuss the food and stated a special that was being offered. We didn't hear any of that. We were rarely checked on and our plates were only cleared when another server noticed them sitting there for so long. This is the restaurant inside of the Alderbrook resort and hotel. It is a very nice restaurant with exceptional food. The prices on the menu we downloaded from Yelp were not the correct prices, think about 20 or 30% higher. But you get what you pay for, we had the king, salmon and the duck breast, both were cooked perfectly, and scrumptious. And the desserts were delicious as well. So we went to Alderbrook restaurant for lunch to support a local business and the re-opened Economy. We had a nice lunch, although it was a pretty limited menu. We received our bill and there was the price for the selected lunch item, tax, AND a 20% service fee. A service fee? (There was only 3 of us, not a large group) We had separate checks and each check had it's own 20% service fee. We asked about it and the waitress stumbled around with a very unclear answer. I finally asked if this was the tip? Again an unclear answer. She finally said it's to help support the reopening of our restaurant. What? That is why we were there. Nothing printed on the menu, just a surprise at the end. I wonder how many people pay, no questions asked, and then tip, which is an individual choice, just seemed sneaky, and not left to the customer to decide how much to add to the final bill. Not an inviting business practice Alderbrook. Another annoying practice that was over the top. We wore our masks to the table. The tables were more than 6 feet apart. We sat down and took off our masks. An Alderbrook employee promptly approached our table and said due to state mandates we needed to leave our masks on unless we were eating and drinking. (Not true) What? Again not very inviting. So when the waitress approached to ask us how everything was, in the middle of our meal we had to stop eating and put our masks up, just to address the waitress. OVER KILL. ALderbrook, if you're that fearful to inconvenience your customers, and charge a surprise 20% service fee, maybe don't open, because this was not the Alderbrook I was used to, especially for bringing out of town company. Update: Try going to the Union Square Deli! Food twice as good at half the cost! In a word: Uninspired. In another word: bleh. We ate here 2 years ago and were blown away by the wide breadth of amazing food on the menu. We spent as much on the food as we did the accommodations and were perfectly happy for it! At the end of our stay we were inspired to give our personal thanks to the chef! Well, that chef is gone and it was painfully obvious even before we confirmed it. Got the Louis salad, and I doubt anything was prepared by the kitchen except for the cutting of the lettuce and toppings. It was disgusting - so much that even though I came in hungry I lost my appetite and couldn't eat more than a single prawn and square of lettuce (each bitr of which I regretted). Got the $24 hamburger next, and I'd place it between a big Mac and the signature McDonald's burgers. It was served cold, as were the fries. It felt like it had been sitting out for at least 15 mins before being served. On the bright side, we enjoyed the "Railroad" cocktail, but the drinks are not enough to pull us back. In short, we will not be returning for more insanely expensive crap on a plate. read more
