My wife had the burger which was decent, and I had the rockfish bowl which came with smoked rockfish (delicious) complemented by kale, sweet potatoes, fluffy eggs, chives, and more. Healthy and good. What I love about the menu items here is that they offer very nutrient dense foods. I love their use of colors and vegetables in their dishes. Ambiance is a casual setting. You go to the counter and order food, pick up a bucket with a number on it, and they bring it to you. You find a seat outside by the water or in the restaurant. And you just enjoy the beautiful scenes. Service is spectacular. Very nice and they come and check on you regularly. Parking is relatively easy (there's a parking lot). I've been here twice once in the winter and once in the spring. During the winter, it's really nice and cozy indoors although a little cold but they do offer blankets for patrons. For the springtime visit, it was amazing sitting outside in the sunshine. You order food at the checkout counter, and they bring your order out to you. With the sunshine the views and delicious food it could not have been more perfect. The outdoor area is also dog friendly and you can walk around the marina or take a look at the neighboring gift shop. The food may seem a little pricey at first, but the quality is there. It is fresh. It is flavorful, and it is delicious. Parking can be a little bit of a pain, especially during the busy times. read more

Our table got some grilled oysters, Dungeness crab, seafood chowder, sides of bread (+$5) and sides of crispy potatoes (~$5) Their chowder definitely isn't the chowder we were expecting despite all the good reviews people left about their chowder. As you can see in the picture, the chowder is very watery. Not thick not creamy. They also added spring onions, corns, and carrots etc. Decent amount of clams in it so it had some good seafood umami profile to it. But maybe call it a corn chowder or seafood soup, not chowder. Grilled oysters were great, butter and other seasoning, grilled, makes it smoky and buttery. Dungeness crab has almost taste like those steamed crab you can get from the store. Ok but nothing special. However, their expo is quite loud. I can hear them when we first arrived ti indoor seating area, lining up to order and even at our table. Veggie hash was ok but the sloppy scrambled was tasteless. The biscuit was also very hard with a dark brown bottom. Eggs on both dishes were overcooked. The folks were all nice. everytime I drop in this little side step of fine local source seafood & canal waterfront, I'm not only embraced by the best the canal has to offer but greeted by friendly staff that are passionate about you enjoying what they have to offer. Even a basic hamburger is a tasty gourmet meal, although most times I go with the seafood. Had the seafood gumbo & it was a meal, everything popping with flavor. I was happy to hear they stay open all year round although not able to stay open every day. My wife and I stopped by Hook & Fork for lunch on a beautiful day in Union, and wow--what a gem! We sat outside right on the water, soaking in that stunning Hood Canal view (seriously, one of the best waterfront spots around). It was a bit chilly with the breeze coming off the water, but totally worth bundling up for the scenery made up for it ten times over. Ordering is super straightforward, you head to the counter, check out the daily menu board, place your order, and they bring everything right to your table. Service was relatively quick even on a busy day, our food arrived in no time, hot and fresh, which made the whole experience feel effortless and relaxed. I had the Salmon Sandwich, and it was perfection, fresh, perfectly cooked salmon with great flavor and all the right fixings. My wife went with the Halibut Cakes, and she couldn't stop raving about how delicious and well-seasoned they were crispy outside, tender inside, and clearly made with high-quality fish. The food felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared, the vibe is relaxed and welcoming (dog-friendly too!), and the location is unbeatable. Stopped for breakfast well camping in the area. The main reasons I would come back are the view and the food. Right on the water you have an amazing view. Tables inside protect against the wind but outside has fire pits and blankets if you get cold. The food was great. We shared a hash and a dip and both where amazing. You order at the counter and pick one of the cute tables outside. The view of the hood canal gives picturesque. The lady who took our order was super friendly. Me and mine each ordered the seafood chowder & split the seafood boil. The chowder was loaded with all the yummies. And the seafood boil might not look like much but it was a bowl that could fulfill a pescatarians dream! The shrimp were plump and cooked perfectly. It also included half a dungey crab, some clams, mussels, 3 poached oysters and some toasted bread to soak that rosemary garlic butter (which by the way they also put in a mug... Places like this make me thank God I'm a Northwesterner, we truly have the best of everything out here. Wanted to go on a bit of a road trip and see what a 4.5 on Yelp looks like which brought me to the Hook & Fork. Fun little drive out there, fun secluded roads leading down to the ocean. Man, what an awesome find! This is my new favorite spot in Mason and is a celebration of everything wonderful about the Northwest. The Hook & Fork is at the Union Marina on the back side. It took me a minute to realize it's on the back side and you access Hook & Fork through a little glass office looking door facing the water. The Union Marina is this really neat working marina with a nice waterfront to explore and a few different artifacts to look at. They even have an old ship's tower you can crawl up and look around on. I plan to explore it more the next time I'm there. Pulling up, I was greeted with the intoxicating and wonderful aromas of several small camp fires set around the building. That is truly one of the greatest smells in the world and instantly brings me back home. Probably the best start I've ever had at a new restaurant. This restaurant is pure Northwestern and almost made me want to weep with how awesome it was. The scent of delicious food mixed with that campfire smell on top of probably the best view of Hood Canal all mixed together was one of the best scenes I've ever been in for a restaurant. You're literally right there on the edge of the Hood Canal with this spectacular vantage of the whole ocean with the mountains behind. The food was exceptional. I had the market burger and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. An incredible blend of high quality ingredients with home cooking. I'm not sure I've ever had a burger like this before, the onions, really sharp pickles and the bacon were unbelievably good. There were so many different flavors all happening at the same time in this burger, my brain had difficulty processing the flavor overload in the best of ways. It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth as several amazing ingredients all competed for my brains' attention. It was a stunningly good burger, I'm still thinking about it. The burger was huge and falling apart in my hand. It was literally finger licking good. I was in the mood for a top burger today and Hook & Fork knocked it out of the park. I also got a side of baguette and really loved it. They cook the bread on the grill before bringing it to you and it was excellent. The outdoor kitchen here is really cool, I've only seen that at other pure Northwestern seafood places. The two ladies here were busting their asses and really putting out a lot of work. i don't think I ever saw them stop moving the entire time I was there. I can see why this place is so awesome from the effort they were putting out. There's an indoor heated seating area they've converted into a comfy dining room with about eight tables. Most people were opting to sit outside in a very cool space right on the water that was decorated with several tables. All in all, I can't believe this place is only 30 minutes from my house. I can see myself going here all the time. Hook & Fork is extremely unique. I drove here not really sure what this place was going to be and I don't think I've ever seen another restaurant quite like this. Driving away after a great meal and a great hour staring at the Hood Canal, I just felt extremely grateful that I get to live in this place and wonderful places like this exist. read more

Came here with some girlfriends and were so happy with this experience. The aesthetic here is wonderful, you can sit right on the water and enjoy your food. The Salmon Sando was absolutely incredible, they cooked the salmon perfectly, and it had so much flavor. We also tried the baked potato special with salmon mousse and that was absolutely heavenly. I was relieved to see they had hotdogs and sliders on the menu. Both of my kids opted for the hot dog and chips. They ate their food all up. The menu is full of really great options so I had a hard time ordering. I ended up going with the pulled pork sandwich. It was so good! The staff were very patient with me and my children while we were trying to decide what to order. I loved that there were tables with a great view of the water. plainly put, hook&fork is a gem. if you're anywhere from shelton to union, belfair to anywhere else, make a u turn and head to hook & fork because what they're offering is fabulous! i stared at their menu board for longer than i care to say because everything just sounded delicious and i couldn't decide. i finally alighted on shrimp tacos and they did not disappoint. my friend got the pork shoulder hash and it looked amazing as well. super nice people, a great spot right on the water at the hood canal marina, and a cute provisions store right next door. what else could you want? This place is a must visit for seafood lovers in the area. I had an incredible authentic meal at Hook and Fork. Normally I don't eat oysters because the last time I had them was at a Chinese buffet and they made me horribly ill. I had a hunch that it would be worth the leap of faith to revisit oysters here and I'm so glad I did! This little place has a clean open air concept right on the water. It has a rotating menu of oysters, clams, shrimp, and other seafood delectables. It is buzzing with happy tourists and locals! I had the poached oysters, which were simple and flavorful. They were soft and prepared with a light drizzle of brothy-oil with scallions. I also had the oyster platter with four of each preparation. I liked the different flavors, and combinations, but the poached oysters were by far my favorite We came back the next day and I also got to try the clam chowder. Very fresh, light, and delicious. The soup had a creamy base, and the clams were clearly fresh chopped clams. Though I've been an East Coast girl all my life, that clam chowder definitely has me preferring the West Coast version. They do weekend brunch, but I didn't try it. Everyone I've spoken to her said it's delicious. Heads up that this place tends to keep fairly limited hours and the menu rotates, so check before heading over. I loved it! read more
