So we ended up eating here twice during our stay, which I try to never do, but our first experience was so amazing and delicious, that we actually couldn't wait to go back a second time. Unfortunately, the second time was highly disappointing,between the food and service. I probably should've knocked off more stars, but I'll weigh heavily on the first experience. Different staffing, different experiences. For your sake, if you get the good server who was the sweetest thing on the planet, you'll be so happy and leave feeling like neighbors. If you get the good chef in the kitchen, you'll leave stuffed and super satisfied! We all cleaned our plates. If you arrive and it's a sunny day, they have a few options out front to enjoy the view of the canal. If it's raining or cold, the inside is still clean and welcoming, with local artists displayed on the wall. Switched it up today and i got Crab Benedict. Lots of crab but the hollandaise has no flavor, though creamy. A squirt of lemon helped. I usually like their hash browns but these had no seasoning at all. Husband had Oysters and Eggs and loved it. But again, no seasoning on the eggs or "home fries" which were dry slabs of cardboard. We thought we solved the horrible coffee situation by getting coffee at Honeybee drive in but that French press coffee was weak. read more

Recently stayed in the area for a wedding and had breakfast here. It was so delicious! We tried almost everything - pancakes, omelette, eggs, biscuit, hash browns, corned beef hash, and home fried potatoes. It was all AMAZING! I visited here last weekend on a weekend getaway up at Lake Cushman in a group of seven. This place was recommended by a local and did not disappoint! You're not going to get anything fancy in a place like this, but the food was great, and the food came out quickly! My fish n chips blew me away and the samples I tried on other plates were very good too, particularly the clam chowder. The service wasn't the best, but the food more than made up for it. My son and I stopped here after we went to the annual Fresh Alaskan Halibut and seafood sale at Fresh Market. I had searched for good breakfast In Hoodsport and The Tides MORE than lived up to our expectations! The Crab Benedict was AMAZING, huge clumps of fresh dungenuss crab and poached eggs cooked perfectly. Right after I took the pic my son spilled a full glass of ice water on it - yikes! On our last day, we came here for brunch! It's a VERY POPULAR spot and they don't take reservations so it's a first come/first serve. When we got there, we were told to wait 30 mins so the staff (assuming he is one of the owners) took my number and would call. We went outside to wait and that same guy, came out and said we had a choice of a table or the bar! If we are at the bar, we wouldn't have to wait bc the table still needed to be cleaned etc so we went for the bar. Diner feel of a restaurant. The food is EXCELLENT! I got the oyster browns (fried oysters) with hashbrowns and sunny side eggs (obviously they ask how you'd like your eggs!) BF got the corn beef hash! We had split their French toast and man, that marionberry sauce and the French toast overall, was not too sweet! I was about to get the stuffed French toast but was told it was more like dessert. All the food was made from scratch. Fresh fried oysters were the best fried oysters I've ever had! So very fresh, & juicy meat. The clam chowder was so perfect; the consistency, taste, freshness, potatoes and diced clams were all excellent. The Big Foot Breakfast was hearty! The hand graded hash browns, sausage links, and over medium eggs being the shining star of the plate. The Swiss cheese omelette was good with fresh eggs and lots of cheese. The French Toast was made with Texas toast bread cooked to perfect. Not served with powdered sugar, a plus for me! The service was great, very prompt and caring people. Our server just got out of the Marines and was a pleasure. The dining room was a typical small town diner. Stools at the diner and comfortable table seating with armed wooden dining chairs where we sat. Went on Tuesday 6/23/26 and ordered blueberry pancakes which cost extra. Only half the pancake had blueberries. Very disappointed tried one more time on 6/24/26 for breakfast. I ordered one biscuit with sausage gravy. Biscuits were hard like yesterday's left out overnight and the gravy couldnt even soften it and gravy tasted bland. read more

Came in and they sat me down immediately and the wait time for food wasn't bad at all considering it all came out fresh and very hot. The food is definitely good I do recommend especially the fried oysters and the gravy and biscuits (actually has meat for once lol). Only down side for me was the customer service, wasn't the most friendly with me. But I am a 23 year old alternative chick with a lotta face metal in a more elderly environment. We went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It is about a 20-25 minute drive from Alderbrook Resort early in the morning before traffic starts on the two lane road. The restaurant was populated mainly by locals who know each other so it's a down home type of place. I had the corned beef hash and it was very tasty. Not the absolute best I've had but the corned beef was real, not from a can, and the eggs were cooked firm exactly as I requested. The wife had the Eggs Benedict with fresh crab and loved it. Her eggs were poached perfectly. The kid had the Tides oatmeal with raisins, almonds, and other stuff, but did not like it which is typical and not a reflection of the quality. Get the home fries!! So good! My husband I stopped in here on a Monday morning after a weekend trip with friends to Brinnon. I got the crab Benedict with the home fries and husband got the country Benedict with the hashbrowns. The country Benedict was basically biscuits and gravy and delicious, the hashbrowns were mediocre. The crab Benedict was fresh and delicious and the home fries were superb! The Tides came highly recommended by the gal at Hoodsport Winery and she was spot on! Great food and great service, not to mention the have Bloody Mary's making it the perfect breakfast spot! I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with some hesitation as many restaurant/diners opt for the canned corned beef and that's definitely not to my liking! The menu said it was house made corned beef so I crossed my fingers! It was absolutely delicious!! They use hash browns for the potatoes and they were cooked nice and crispy to go along with the crispy bits and tender chunks of the beef. The eggs were cooked perfectly as ordered and the English muffin was nicely toasted and the butter all melted and filling all the little dips! Service was friendly and attentive, we never wanted for anything, including coffee and water fill ups. Although an older building and bathrooms that definitely need an overhaul, the food and service are well worth 5 stars and a return visit. read more

This is a cozy little spot on the beautiful canal that serves breakfast and lunch. The parking lot is huge so no problem when traveling with a trailer or a big rig. Options for seating are inside or sit outside at the tables. We were seated fairly fast. Hostess wasn't super friendly or not but was efficient for sure. We ordered the coffee, hot chocolate, pancakes and the biscuits and gravy. The first cup of hot chocolate was perfect. The second cup ordered had a lot less chocolate and wasn't really worth drinking. The pancake was huge and very good. It was hard to eat half of it but we sure gave it a try. The biscuits and gravy were so full of salt in the gravy that after a bite or two we left them on the table. Would we stop again .... definitely. read more

They used margarine, not butter. The bacon appeared to be 3 days old and prepared in a dehydrator. The omelet again had zero seasoning. It wasn't terrible, just bleh. The food was decent considering there's only really 3 places to eat in Hoodspot. The waitess wasn't very welcoming, hardly even acknowledged us when we walked in, when we were ordering, and literally dropped off the food without saying a word and walked off. The entire interaction was lousy and awkward. The younger busser was great, though. He came by a few times throughout the meal to make sure things were great. When we paid and left, I asked the cashier if I could leave the tip for the busser to receive the entire tip. read more
