I've been a long time customer here however in the last few months the service has greatly diminished! I come every other week and virtually every visit I have to wait prolonged periods of time for someone to get a forklift and drop product that isn't stocked. When you can stand next to a Manager waiting for them to help and they continue to stare into their computer screen then call another associate over to help with the same problem instead of dividing and helping both its just bad overall service! When the employees even tell you they know the service has gone down you know there is problems! Will be looking into other options! read more

Can't really complain. They have great selection. I shop here weekly for my co-op and am able to get a decent amount of vegetarian/vegan items. As a small business owner, I depend on Restaurant Depot for a lot of items. After reading several reviews I felt compelled to share my own experience dealing with RD and their employees. First of all, NO ONE deserves to be referred to as a "hood rat." People are still people, even when they are different from you. I visit RD at least twice every month. No, I don't always get what I need and Yes, sometimes I have to endure long wait times to check out just like everybody else does. But, I ALWAYS get outstanding customer service from everyone I encounter. I don't agree with employees being argumentative or combative with any customer. But I also don't agree with any customer feeling entitled to do the same either. We're all under a great deal of stress. Give respect to receive respect is my motto. I pray more people try it and offer a little more grace to people just trying to make a living in a system they most likely have had very little ability to impact or change. read more

This place is amazing it has made my shopping so easy, not only has it cut down on my time but the cost is great, I would highly recommend Restaurant Depot to anyone. The staff is amazing at the Austin location, Jonathan,Martin, Cassandra ,Claudia, all are so helpful when I need something. They go out of there way to get it for me or let me know when it will come in. In general all there staff is great.Dale the manager has done a great job, I just met Brian and he is great as well he listens to his customers and takes time away from his busy schedule to listen. I would love to give this place more stars. I went here thinking "yeah, restaurant supply!" Little did I know that you must have a business license to get in and shop. This is a great place to go to get restaurant supplies. Most of the workers are helpful some not so much. I ask a guy to check on stock for me he went to the freezer came back out a minute later and said no more will have more later today. I decided to ask another person just to be sure and sure enough they had it. Hopefully I will get the helpful ones in the future. The guy that did help me out was very nice. Watch out for the forklift drivers it's a busy place in there. Please consider carrying pork feet and beef tendons in the future. read more

They have a great selection of food at great prices. However I am alway extremely disappointed with the cashiers they seem to want to horseplay, and joke with each other then get the massive line moving. They need to take a look at how SAMs checks people out and make some changes. read more

Can you have problems here with getting items or them being out of items? Yes. But look at how many restaurants shops there every day. This is not like a Walmart where they have a billion items for 10,000 people to buy every day. They only have room for so much at a time to be in each slot for that item. That being said, I have shopped there for 6 years. Yes, sometimes I have gad to wait until they dropped something from above that they were out of in the 'slot'. Yes, they have been out of an item here and there. Yes, I have run into underripe produce. But I also save an average of $400 per week on my groceries compared with the cheapest purveyor that will deliver to me. Also, when the purveyor is out, I don't find out until they get there with my order. At RD, I can look at other similar product to (usually) find what I need and can work with. We are just a 'small' restaurant and if we can save $400 a week, I can only imagine what a much larger restaurant could save. We even actually pay our rent, water, gas, and trash on what we save there each month. Complain all y'all want and go spend 40% more elsewhere just because they are not there just for you and you only. Me? I'll continue to save my money. read more

Jim, Roy, Angela and Chris are top notch. Dale the manager is rude and hard to deal with. I've seen him yelling at coworkers on two occasions. Selection is good. Biggest complaint is that the aisles are always cluttered with pallets of product, making it hard to shop. The forklift and the electric pallet jack drivers zip all over, it's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt. read more

Yes they have a lot of supplies that restaurants need but they are often out of many necessary items. My partner and I have been going to restaurant depot every day trying to get some take out that are only found at restaurant depot in Austin but they have been out for a while and every time we ask when they are going to get more they say it should be on their next truck but it never is. It is extremely frustrating running a fussiness with bowls that are too large. And every time I go for only a few items there is only one or two lanes pen for checkout and I have to wait for people with carts full of items just to check out my few items. It would be a lot easier if they had a fast Lane open at those times. read more

This is the most disorganized store I have ever been in. I am there every single week and the Mngr. Dale could care less about the valued customers who are paying his bills. He is rude and could care less about his customers. They are always out of produce and at least five items on my list. Especially paper products such as boats. Today I went spent 30 minutes in line as they are always understaffed. They have 5 check out lanes and I have never seen them open more than 2-3. Today will be my last visit. I write a check there every single week. Today they told me I had to go sign a form to write a check. After 6 years of writing a check? That proceeded to take Dale 20 minutes to even come to the service desk. And when I questioned him about why I was having to do this after waiting almost an hour between check out aqnd waiting on him his reply was very flippant. "Because you just do", he said. I left my $500 order and walked out. Not so much as I am sorry, nothing. I am in the process of opening several RESTAURANTS, BUT THEY WILL NOT SEE A DIME OF MY MONEY AGAIN.
