One of the worst shopping experiences I've ever had. I went in today because it was close by even though I only really needed toothpicks. I picked up three more items along the way. I didn't bother grabbing a cart because I didn't need an 8 foot pallet on wheels for a few items. I get in the slowest moving line and stick it out since everyone only had a few items in their cart. The cashier moved at a glacial pace with no sense of urgency. When I finally get to the register she refuses to ring me up because I don't have a cart. I ask them if they can please ring me up this one time and next time I will make sure to get a cart. They still refuse and tell me "it's not our fault that you don't have a cart." This isn't the first time I've shopped here and only grabbed a few items and payed for it without a cart. There is no rule that customers must have a cart to be checked out. Why all the attitude and poor customer service? I'll be buying a Costco membership because I'm not shopping here again. The customer service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. My very first visit to Restaurant Depot was nothing short of amazing. It was definitely a foodie's wonderland with an affection for Kitchen gadgets and stuff. I hope that make sense. They had pretty much anything that I could think of. I found everything from whole lamb to pizza spatulas. This is a great location for restaurants, food trucks etc to use that is easily accessible vs the "big box" food house. The customer service agents seemed friendly. read more

Once upon a time this was a 5 star review. But given that the average wait time to checkout is now over 15-20 minutes because management doesn't want to staff enough people, the experience always sucks. It is made worse by the fact that there is a giant banner that hangs above the exit doors that says "Customer Service Pledge - If there are 3 or more customers in every line, we will open another available register." Hahaha....good one. Lines are routinely 6-10 deep in every line. Doesn't really matter though since there isn't another one around. read more

Just some questions to all these negative reviews. What if you went there one day and business was closed? How much more would you pay elsewhere? How would you get the unique products you cant find at other retailers? Where can you get this many varieties of items at one location? The staff is doing a great job or at least the best they can. The manager has gone out of his way to find things for me. When I need something from the top of the shelves, there someone with a lift to get it for me. The cashiers are often pleasant to talk to and Ron and his crew in small wears, has helped me numerous times. I am not saying its perfect, but come on people, be a little flexible. read more

Truly I think it was awesome that this company opened up to the general public during Covid-19. It was a great effort to support their community. I called before going and the staff on the phone was very polite. When we areived the woman at the door was polite as well. Everyone we encountered during our visit was courteous and knowledgeable. Having been our 1st time there we were a little loss but tbeg assisted us. There are definitely great deals. We were able to find everything we were looking for and some other things that we needed as well. Truly I am not sure how long it will be open to the public but if you are not a business I would definitely recommend going there. read more

Restaurant Depot never fails to depress!!! Yesterday I bought a case of their "no name, off brand" vinegar as well as a case of apple cider vinegar (gallons)... My next stop was the local Food Lion "retail" grocery store.... They were selling single gallons of THE NAME BRAND of both products... (every day price.... NOT sale price) for 1/3 of what I paid for case lots yesterday at Restaurant Depot.... Needless to say I will be returning both cases of product to RD this morning. read more

Great location and gold mine for restaurants. They can improve on customer service, checkout speed (have all cash registers open during peak hours) I spend more time checking out then shopping. My ice cream always melted. I mean I understand the place can get jammed but to the point where it can infect your product that can be a lost and they don't return that kind of stuff easy unless calling up store manager or corporate. Other then that I like the layback atmosphere and the saving. I mean they put US food/Sysco and all the big dogs in the race price wise. Recommended! Just watch the queue and judge if you're going for the frozen goods that's my only watch out for habit. read more

My Boss Maran and I visit this location every Monday, we drive an hour from Southern Pines, North Carolina. He and his wife own an Indian Restaurant here in our downtown. We always have a great experience shopping here. Today, specifically, but on every visit, every single employee was extremely helpful. Everyone we extended a good afternoon reciprocated and we all had great banter, every item we needed was in stock. The bathrooms were immaculately clean. We even saw a bird fly threw the warehouse. I am not kidding, when I say that it was truly lovely. And I can't wait to continue to visit with the best boss in the world, Maran, in the future. read more

Found some good price meats in this month's flyer. While being checked out, noticed that the price being charged were not the same as the one advertised on the flyer. Spoke with the manager about it and was told that "prices are subject to change without notice". Not sure what the purpose of advertising and having a flyer. False advertising read more

I have been here a various times of the day and the lines are always long. Rarely are they short. I'm ok with that although if you're promising one thing and don't follow through, then you've failed. Customer Service is spotty but ok. My biggest problem with RD is not the lines, food quality or price. My biggest problem is the lack of product on the shelf. I've never been able to get everything on my list as most of the time they don't have it. I hate going to the warehouse clubs to complete my list but I don't have a choice. I wish their website would tell you if it was in stock or not. That would be a huge time saver. read more

Expectations people have for restaurant depot is everything is cheaper, fresher, faster, better, happier, bigger, smaller...whatever. You can't blame them for certain quality of products because they don't make them. They just sell them. Lines? Of course. Expect it as a norm and be happier when there is not a line. Ever try going to the mall during the holidays? Bottom line, be appreciative we have a restaurant depot. Not everyone can meet the minimums of the large food companies. If you can, you should have your account their and skip the restaurant depot. But when you need that one item before the weekend and your Sysco won't deliver unless you meet a $500 minimum, then venture over to RD. Or better yet, buy the items when needed because you've done your homework. It's easy to blame the management and their staff for the service. Should step in their shoes one day and chances are you'll understand. Be patient. If you don't have enough time for I wait, come back later or tomorrow. I've been in at 6 am...in:out in 10 minutes with the couple items needed. Guess what happens during peak periods? No business is perfect. But I'm glad they're here and happy to wait when I decide to go at a peak time. Otherwise I come back...say 5:45pm when they close at 6pm. Guarantee it's not a 40 minute wait to check out then! The sticker price says $2.74 and on the register it rings for $4.00 and the manager says he cannot change it they go by what the register says l brought all the red stickers down and gave them to him still nothing.please always check your receipts they over ring also so disappointed read more

Waited and rang bell at seafood counter for 15 mins. At least 5 employees noticed multiple customers. I helped myself to oysters and there you go, "help" arrived only to tell us the entire pallet of oysters were sold. This location is fairly new, they can't seem to get it together! Their membership card printer is always broken and they can't seem to get the whole "business sales tax" thing down. They have a good selection of foods, the prices are the same if not more expensive in some cases than Costco or Sam's Club. I do dread coming going here however, their checkout area is shaped weird, their carts are clunky and hard to maneuver. If you own a restaurant, you'll definetely want to check this place out since they have lots of great items, but warned: I've been overcharged, they are disoranized and they can't seem to get the whole membership process smooth. read more

OK... It's not perfect but before they came your only choice was the big chain food purveyors where If you're a small operator It can be difficult to meet minimums and can be expensive. Restaurant depot carries a lot of stuff you just can't get anywhere else for food service. Just like anywhere else, you need to know your pricing; somethings are cheaper somethings are not. Can they make improvement? yes... Sometimes the wait at check out is ridiculous but not all the time. It's been my experience that their staff is helpful but busy, so be concise. They're often restocking while you're shopping which can be a pain I.e. forklifts running around and palettes in the isle you have to maneuver around, a bit chaotic at times. I've found the best time to go, is as early as you can get there it's your best shot to get in and get in and out quickly. 6 AM...that's what I'm talking about :-).
