Pro Tips: 1) Just in case you don't know, you don't need to be a Costco member to use the pharmacy. However, there is so much value in a Costco Membership, even if you just use it for gas I'd highly recommend it. 2) You may be able to get a Costco member discount on prescriptions not covered by insurance. 3) You can use Costco with Instacart but the prices are a little higher (for food) than if you have a membership. You can get prescriptions delivered via Instacart even if you don't have an Instacart subscription. Pharmacy Staff I can't say enough good things about the pharmacy staff at this location. I changed from private insurance to Medicare this year and they've gone out of their way many times to help me. Whether it's trying to get me a discount on a prescription that's not covered or helping me navigate the same day delivery function...they've been exceptionally helpful. I wish I could remember all the names of people that have helped me but some are Amy, Angie, Maliha and Sarah. Hospice Care My Mom, who's 95, went into hospice care this year which is incredibly stressful. It's one thing to be getting prescriptions to keep yourself well, it's another to be getting medications for someone at the end of their life. My Mom had a prescription we were getting filled at CVS. The bottle said "take two a day." So she was taking two at the same time. When we got the prescription from Costco it said "take two times a day." That might not seem like a big deal but the nuance of taking the medication at two different times has helped relieve a very annoying side effect she had. Personalized Service I've used many different local pharmacies and what they all have in common (sadly) is that it's an anonymous experience. It doesn't matter if you've been to the counter two or three times in the same day, you're essentially like a stranger they're seeing for the first time every time you visit. I'd like to give a shout out to Maliha because I had spoken to her on the phone one day trying to resolve a technical/delivery problem and the next day, she saw my name, remembered me and asked me if I was able to solve the problem after we spoke. I was completely floored to get that level of customer service which has almost disappeared in our society. Likewise, I want to acknowledge Amy for being kind and attentive when I was picking up a prescription for my Mom that wasn't quite ready. She came over to me a couple of times to assure me it was almost ready. When you use the word "hospice" in a conversation, you're saying that someone's life is close to the end. It's sad how so many people don't understand that. Amy obviously understood the stress of waiting for a medication for someone in hospice care and I genuinely appreciate her care and consideration. Highly recommend...it's really worth the effort to use Costco pharmacy. Park on the edge of the parking lot near the gas station for a more hassle free experience. read more

As much as I love going to Costco and seeing all their products and what's out there, I don't typically have a good experience with the customer service representatives or the people at the checkout counter or even just the general workers. I always feel like I am being a hassle by simply existing or needing to check out. They always seem super stressed, and I'll be at there extremely busy so I cut them some slack, but I just feel bad if I ever have any questions or anything like that because they make me feel unwelcome. Man, I do generally love Costco, even though of late they just seem to keep taking things away from their members. It started with sauerkraut on the hot dogs, and has since expanded to what I considered to be a core benefit, the well-priced propane tank refills. There also used to be a recurring deal around Black Friday for a heavy discount on NY Strip or Beef Tenderloin (for the whole portion, where you have to cut your own), and no more take and bake pizzas? Come on y'all. Help us out. Still, my membership is easily paid for every year in just gas alone, among many other things where they just can't be denied. This location in Apex, definitely not my home location, and I'm going to go ahead and be very thankful for that. I happened to be in the area on my way back to the Triad and needed gas, which turned into a WHOLE THING. This was a Saturday, and yeah, Costco on a Saturday is generally very busy. Expected. But this place was total gridlock. You could not move in certain spots, because traffic is not effectively funneled onto any kind of main thoroughfare through the parking lot. Whoever designed this parking lot needs to be forced to exist in it and instantly regret all their choices. The Costco gas station, is at the epicenter of the nonsense, and that makes it even worse of a problem. All told, I would have happily paid 30 cents a gallon more at any other gas station on my route. I didn't know this would be nearly a half hour detour. Not a mistake I'll make again. We've been a member for a few months now, and although I'm glad that we canceled our Sam's Club membership to sign up for a Costco membership here, our experiences in this Costco have caused us many headaches. It can get super crowded here, especially on weekends. From my understanding, it's the busiest Costco in the Triangle NC. The only other Costco in NC we've been to is the one at North Durham, and from what I could remember, it can also get crowded there but it's not as bad as this Apex location. One time, it took us about 20 min. just to find parking on a Sunday afternoon. Costco is a huge company with great reputation, so the constant stream of customers coming was expected. What I didn't expect was how the management here didn't seem to be prepared to handle the overwhelming crowd. In our latest visit, for example, I tried to order a couple of chicken bakes & cookies from the concession, but it took about 25 min. for them to get those ready. Then after that, after my girl finished shopping, we tried to take a quick snack, so I ordered just a slice of pepperoni pizza, and it took just as long just to get 1 slice! And when it was time for us to share that 1 slice, a manager told us to leave because it's already closing. In my mind, I wanted to tell him, "Well, we would have finished eating earlier if you had enough people in your concession area handling many orders efficiently!" There are multiple kiosks for easy ordering, but it just seemed that they lack the manpower to handle this constant flow of orders fast enough. But it's not just in the concession area. Costco's dairy section seemed to run out of organic milk and eggs fast. And at the cashier, because customers are not able to use the hand scanners, there were times when we had to wait for the employee holding the scanner to notice us, so she could scan the bigger items. We never had issue at Sam's Club. I'm not sure if it's a management issue or an understaffing issue. Maybe both, but we were really disappointed to see this kind of customer service from a company who's built its reputation with its excellent customer service. Whenever I come to this Costco in the evening on the weekday, it can be quite therapeutic. Whenever I come on the weekend, it is the most stress inducing activity. The Apex Costco is easily one of the busiest ones I've ever been to and that can really alter your experience. As a positive, I think the interior of the Costco is straight forward and I don't have trouble finding things. I know what their staples are, but I also know that they can rotate items and I'm always looking for the new big thing that they sell. You can tell that they keep track of customer demographics, a lot more Japanese items and Indian breads have made their way onto shelves. These new things certainly bring the flair to this Costco. The food here is also fairly consistent. I haven't had a bad hot dog or chicken bake here, my two favorite items. I haven't had a chance to try their pizza. My only thing is that this is one of the few Costco's where their kitchen seems to be understaffed. My biggest gripe with this Costco is the flow of traffic and the parking lot. There are often big backlogs of traffic due to pedestrians walking and lots of clientele, but having the gas station where it is really creates a lot of congestion, cars line up through the main road and it can sometimes be a pain to get in and out. I recently have decided to only come late, around 7:30 PM during the weekdays. It is really chill at those hours and I can take my time. I guess, no food samples for me though. read more

When I moved to North Carolina, I was told the Apex Costco was the best of the three. While I don't disagree, it is also the busiest of the three, likely because it has the most things to do nearby as well. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to be in bumper to bumper traffic as you hunt for a parking spot. Once you get inside, be prepared to be cart to butt or cart to Achilles tendon. Also be prepared for more than half of the people to not be situationally aware of their surroundings and just park their cart in the middle of an aisle, blocking people in both directions, while they wander off looking for something that isn't near where they parked their cart. Other than having to deal with the other customers, the staff is as friendly as all Costco. You can tell these employees love their job and their employer. If you want a whole pizza to either eat in the warehouse after or to take home, you better call it in as soon as you get inside the warehouse. read more

You can't beat Costco. It's also an extremely difficult task to leave with spending less than $100. There are many unbelievable buys like Vanilla Extract, organic brown rice, and fresh produce. I buy frozen veggies made great there that are more than half price less than the supermarket. These are gf along with frozen Four Cheese Sabatassos pizza. You get 3 in a box. It is better than some gf crust pizzas you can get from some pizzerias. Yesterday I picked up a box of 200 13 gallon flex tech bags for $16.99. I love Costco. read more

Why not put the entrance on one end and the exit on the other? Spread it out for less crowding confusion. Plus anyone using the tires, pharmacy, hearing aids, glasses, they all come in the same door. I recently ordered a cake for the first time through the bakery at Costco. It's strange to me that there isn't a digital online process for this. To order your cake, fill out a paper form in front of the bakery, by the case of pre-made cakes. Customization options are limited. A half sheet cake was more than enough to feed guests at a birthday party that had 50 people in attendance. Everyone thought the cake was delicious and it got a lot of compliments. The children loved the rainbow and all wanted a piece that had part of the rainbow on it! There was plenty to go around, and for a good price. Very crowded. Very busy. Very diverse. Throngs of people with absolutely no situational awareness, and extremely crowded at all hours of the day. It used to be that you could go on an evening during the week but it's now insane during these times. Part of the fun of Costco used to be exploring and treasure hunting. But this location is such an absolute chaotic nightmare that you just want to leave as soon as possible lest I get into an in-aisle altercation. I've had to push peoples' carts out of the way and raise my voice to get their attention. Just read the reviews of all the people that "just moved to NC" and you'll see why this place is overrun. It was not built for all the people that have moved here from the northeast. Costco needs to build another one in the Apex-Morrisville region like yesterday. I had a very negative experience with their customer service. Admittedly, I had an unusual request. My mother is the Costco member, but she was having surgery and asked me to exchange a swimsuit she had purchased for a larger size. Since it was just an exchange (so I thought) I didn't think it would matter that I wasn't the member. The problem was not so much that they were reluctant to help me as it was the the customer service rep was a rude witch. She was thoroughly unpleasant and disagreeable. She called the manager over, who was very nice and helpful. But I came away with an extremely negative feeling towards Costco. My husband and I used to be members but were very angry that when the store was closed d/t covid they did not partially refund memberships or extend them. So we said the hell with them. At the time of writing this review, there are three Costco stores in the Triangle: Apex (this one), Durham, and Raleigh. Our go-to is the Durham store, but since we had some extra time and I wanted to explore a little, I suggested we check out this Costco in Apex. This is Costco store #1206. It's about eight minutes further away from our Chapel Hill home compared to the Durham store. One person had been looking for it, but couldn't find it at Costco in Georgia. I hadn't even heard of Chef Morimoto's Tokyo Chicken Momosan Ramen until my wife dropped it in our cart. If you like ramen, I recommend it. My wife loves wine and I chuckled when I saw the Kirkland Signature boxed wine in our fridge. However, when I tried it, I was impressed. Kirkland Signature's cheap wine is good. If you don't mind cheap wine, try it. You might be pleasantly surprised like I was. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised -- from frozen salmon to three-piece golf balls, most anything I've tried that is Kirkland Signature brand has been good. Trivia: Did you know Costco is the world's largest buyer of wine? Over the last couple years, my wife has purchased Puma athletic apparel for me from Costco. They have been very good buys because the athletic wear fits me well and is comfortable. These include the no-show socks above plus long athletic socks, sweatpants, and a hoodie. The prices are scary low. The rest of the items in the list above are standard purchases for us from Costco. Obviously, buying in bulk, when it makes sense, is the way to go economically. I try to make it a point to get my Clear Care contact lens solution from Costco as well as other toiletries like Glide floss and Listerine mouthwash. As for food, we've been big fans of mangos from Costco as well as their Korean beef bulgogi from the meat department. The bulgogi (sliced beef chuck roll) is nicely-marinated in a savory, sweet sauce and comes with sliced onion too. It's delicious. Most of the food items we purchased qualified for the 2.00% North Carolina food tax. All other items were subject to the 7.25% Wake County sales tax. All checkout lanes were open and moving. We didn't have to wait long. They move people in and move people out at a brisk pace; another reason to like Costco. Customer service was great. Our cashier was Trudie T, who was sweet, and there was a well-mannered guy who assisted with loading our cart. Overall, the staff worked efficiently. read more

I'm not sure about other locations, but this Costco location is not "fun". I learned to try to keep my shopping smaller so that when heading to the cashier I'm not struggling to pack my stuff while the cashier throws stuff at me and than "helps" when throwing directly into my cart. I focus on value items and try to go when it's not too "crazy" in the store. Otherwise, it is Costco. Good value especially for some products like TVs and some other things. But I learned that some products can be bought with same or better price and better experience. read more

I shop at Costco for its great prices, wide range of products, and consistently helpful employees. However, today's checkout was beyond unacceptable. While my husband dashed back to exchange a wrong item, I politely told the shoppers behind me they could go ahead if he wasn't back in time. The moment the next customer stepped forward, cashier Allison (white, middle-aged, gray hair, lane 60) spun around, face twisted with anger, and repeatedly screamed: "NOT FAIR TO OTHERS! STEP BACK RIGHT NOW!" She kept ranting those words over and over, then muttered something under her breath while glaring at me with open disgust. You can check your CCTV--everything is on camera. Her hostility triggered a full PTSD panic attack; I literally could not speak to strangers. After paying $130 a year for Executive membership, I expect courtesy, not humiliation. Unless management apologises and retrains staff, I will not renew my membership. I am afraid, if you keep treating customers this way and employ disrespectful staff, you'll damage your reputation. read more

Super super busy on weekends. They carry almost all the usual Costco fare. The cafeteria is almost always busy but highly efficient. You order from the computer and wrist until your number is called. What I love most about this Costco is- they know they are busy and they know people crowd them all day everyday, most days you park at the very tail end of parking lot kind-busy. But the employees never make you feel bad about it. The produce and fruit is top notch, food samples can get tricky with all the crowds waiting to try to top ones- but they do the best they can. You cant beat the quality of cheese, chocolates and beer here. Where else can I buy a case of Pernicious at such a price? The Apex Costco is the closest one to me, so I come to this location. It is always well stocked and clean, even the occasions when I have gone into the restrooms. It is hard to find items sometimes, as they frequently change the location of items, but every Costco does this. There are no signs on the isles to tell you what is in each isle, so it is just take a walk and play hide and seek. The rotisserie chickens are the BEST anywhere and I like the shrimp cocktail as well. Their croissants are wonderful and so reasonably priced. This is the best place to buy your supplements, especially when they are on sale. Yes, Costco does put some of their items on sale, just watch out, some of the sales do not last long. There are other items that I have never seen reduced, but most things are still better than other stores. There are plenty of tables here if you order something from the food court, so no worries about getting a seat. Parking is plentiful, but always full. They keep the carts pulled from the outside back to the inside on a regular basis. Never had a problem getting a cart like at some Costco's. This location does have gas and it is always a good price and high quality. Just takes a little patience to get through the line which is always there. Thankful this Costco is nearby! read more

Today is August 2, 2025 at 9:20am. As we always do every Saturday, we do our groceries. We drive early to fill up gas for our car and wait until 930am for the grocery to open. We parked near the entrance and we noticed people are going in and its already open. However, at the entrance, we were told that we cannot go in yet since its only 920am. They are only allowing those with Executive Membership to go in first starting 9am. I was surprised and dumbfounded. Whats the difference a 30 minutes can do to a higher tier membership versus Goldstar? Are we being discreminated of our capability to afford a lower tier membership? There's so many of us waiting in the front entrance being denied entry becuase of our lower tier membership, that eventually another staff came out and shouted that we can go in eventhough its not yet 930am. If this is how Costco seggregates membership tier, I will have second thoughts of renewing our membership this year. Costco, you could do better? read more

Costco always gives me mixed signals. I thoroughly enjoy their variety of quality products; however, I always get turned off by the quality of service I receive at the store. I've had the Costco membership in the past but didn't renew it at that time. This visit to the Apex Costco was for me to re-start the Costco membership and shop afterwards. The line to the customer service was quite long - which is a SEPARATE line from the membership services. I honestly wish there was a sign that clearly tells me where to go for what. Absolutely no visibility. You can only see the sign when you are walking up to the counter to talk to someone. Then you will have to wait in the membership line, again. Not efficient for the use of my time on a weekend. However, the quality of products at Costco is always the best. They have been getting more Asian products compared to BJ's or Sam's club, and I'm enjoying the shopping experience at Costco even more! On the weekend, be prepare to face lots of traffic both inside and outside the stores. During covid, all the employees are wearing masks, but they are not sanitizing between customers at the customer service desk. read more

Saturday is crowded so expect to not find parking easily. Got some of our staples for the house and all but 2 items we couldn't find. The cashier was excellent and the assistant too. We asked them for insight into the two items and a manager came over who provided further detail. We will be back for the hose! Costco is great!! This location is my favorite in the area. The pizza and hot dog deal you cannot beat. The service is slow at times when it busy but it worth it for the deal. I mean a whole large pizza for under 10 you cannot beat that and it pretty good. The 1.50 hot dog soda combo after you went shopping is a perfect combination. I do wish they have more samples as sometimes they don't have any. read more

It doesn't seem to matter what time you come here, except near closing time, it's always busy! It's laid out a little differently than the one in Durham, and probably other locations too, but as soon as you're acclimated you'll find your way around easily. As with other locations, if samples are being given out it's like starving animals at feeding time. It can be helpful to tide you over if you're needing a snack, but some make a meal out of it. I think you have to know pricing ahead of time to know if you're getting a good deal here or not. Either way it is a fun place to browse or shop and you can't beat the price of the food at the snack bar. read more

A friend of mine was kind enough to bring me as a guest 2x in a 5 day period. It is your typical Big box retailer with everything from tires to tomatoes. Personally, I am purchasing for one, so most of the bulk items do not make sense for me. Having said that, they got me for 60 bones the first time and 90 bones the second respectively. Might return in 2 years when I need more toilet paper. Their perishable departments were surprisingly fresh. The 3 star is based on multiple interactions with Costco staff, and to a one, they were all less than friendly. read more

The optical store is tremendous. The service is outstanding, and the product is good. I usually pay thousand dollars for my progressive eyeglasses with designer frames I bought a pair of Ray-Ban frames and HD progressive lenses, and they were great, then $300. Outstanding! read more
