Unfortunately it didn't deliver. Every dish (I mean every dish) came in a bed of brown (bean?) sauce and had a pile of coriander on top. Fish, bean sauce and coriander. Eggplant, bean sauce and coriander. Beef and broccoli, bean sauce and coriander. The duck wraps, no bean sauce but the main accompaniment is coriander. There was really just one flavor profile across the entire meal, bean sauce and coriander. The service was slow (we had to cancel a second drink order because we were done eating before they arrived), and the music is waaaay too loud. The room looks good but I'd take good food over a hip room any day. Disappointing!

I love their sesame noodles and the garlic fried rice, and the duck is great to share with a small group. Everything is always delicious and high quality. However my last visit was very strange - the waitress brought out a candle on a little figurine saying "well since you didnt order dessert, but happy birthday" - I was really confused, and even asked her if my husband indicated it was my birthday in the reservation (she confirmed he didnt), but she had noticed our other friend at the table had given me a gift bag. Anyways, I reacted with polite confusion and a "thank you" and thought that was that, but was very disappointed to come up from the bathroom and hear her openly trash-talking me to the other staff in the kitchen adjacent to the stairs to the bathroom, about how I wasnt nice about the candle? Like lady, I had a small bag that was a condolence gift, on my way back from putting my dog to sleep, and never was rude even once? Its not like we asked for it or wanted it. We'll ask for a different waitstaff next time and continue to come in - we do really love the restaurant, just had a very bizarre evening with our waitress.

If it was a little less thoroughly combined it would've been a 10/10. I had their PIE oysters and I ended up ordering an additional 9! Their cosmos was good, nothing spectacular, but their non alcoholic sparkling lemonade was awesome! Regarding service I'd say it's okay. A little slow at taking orders and completing orders. Took me a while to get cocktail sauce. They could've been kinder but I think it's just a matter of which servers you talk to. Overall it was a great first dining experience in Montreal and one of my favorite overall.

So glad that staff was able to seat us at the bar because the restaurant was mostly full. It's got this like old pirate ship kind of feel - looks like repurposed wood, a lot of lamp lights and generally a good time. I'm pretty sure that their menu changes from season to season. While we were there, we got the oysters, the bourgots, THE 12 INCH HOTDOG, and a caramel-y pasta dish. I also got a glass of white. The food was FANTASTIC. I also saw someone order a whole boat of oysters and temporarily felt envy, to which my friend said there's literally 2 of us. No way we can eat a small boat's worth of oysters. I really liked the vibe of this restaurant. Staff are bilingual, which always makes things easier when you're traveling. It's also opened late.

The staff here are incredible as well. So nice and attentive even on a busy Sunday morning. I arrived without a reservation but the staff worked quite hard to shift things around to reserve a table for us in 15mins. First tip, MAKE A RESERVATION! The food here is simple, fresh and so satisfying. Very photogenic lol. I loved the savory yogurt with the Turkish eggs and added bacon. It really pulled everything together. The bacon being salty was well balanced with the yogurt. The eggs were soft boiled which I love! My buddy had the Palestinian eggs which also looked great and he gobbled up pretty quick. We each had 2 cups of coffee. I tried the well made cappuccino and an americano after brunch. The coffee here is smooth with low acidity. The americano is nutty with hints of chocolate. I'll definitely come back! Bon appetit!

When I arrived, there was a short line, and as soon as I walked inside, the incredible aroma of rotisserie chicken filled the room. That's when I knew I was in for something special. I was told to order the wet hot chicken plate, so I did--and it absolutely did not disappoint. I also couldn't resist trying the famous chicken poutine. The flavors were bold, rich, and incredibly satisfying. The portions were enormous, too; there was easily enough food for several meals. Before leaving, I picked up a small homemade tres leches tart for dessert. It was the perfect ending to the meal. The cake was moist and delicious, and the caramelized burnt sugar on top added an amazing flavor and texture. I honestly wish Ma Poule Mouillée had a location in Detroit because this would become my monthly dinner spot without question. This place is the definition of "winner, winner, chicken dinner." If you're visiting Montreal, don't miss it--you'll leave full, happy, and already thinking about your next visit.

I'm so glad they did and still just as good as always. We ordered the chicken legs, the poutine, and pastel de nata. The ordering can be a bit confusing as it's not clear what line is which. So the move is your line up and order by the cooks in front then move to the back to pay at the cashier. The portions are large and even the small poutine can feed a family. I lived the spicy chicken and pastel de nata. The poutine was good but didn't need the sausage. Overall very happy we revisited and that they're still amazing.
