Avoid this tourist trap. Host/manager/owner guy was rude as hell. We politely waited at entrance hoping he would acknowledge us or seat us but he never said a word to us. Then he became disgusted/annoyed with us because we just didn't grab any random table and sit down. Not sure if he's an ass or maybe just hates Asian customers. Had the risotto di scampi which was a pretty small portion. Rice was hard, there were only a few shrimp, and it was really salty. Girlfriend's spaghetti tasted better but came out cold. All the servers seemed nice and friendly. There is a mandatory 10% service fee and also separate table fee. Has a nice view if you like sitting outside and people watching on the Main Street.

Very clean, good food, and the dude was nice. I had the lasagna and my sister had the noodles with the squid ink and it was phenomenal.

It sits very high on a hill overlooking Como and the view does not disappoint. The menu is expansive and interesting - you start with table side bread, a starter for each person (they are individual portions), then order a second course pasta dish and a final course main entree. While the food was extremely yummy the best part was how accommodating they were to my husband's serious food intolerances. He cannot eat garlic or onions (makes it very difficult in Italy) and our server Andre was so gracious and left notes for the chef and ended up making him a pasta dish not even on the menu! So incredibly kind and not expected at all. Andre also gave me an amazing wine recommendation! The Brunello...changed my life so good!!! Lastly because we were celebrating our anniversary they brought out a sparkler and yummy frozen lemon drink for us to share all while cranking up the music and congratulating us with the whole restaurant. 10/10 service!!! The restaurant itself is so charming, the only thing to be aware of is outside on the patio is is very warm with no AC, but they have fans to keep you as cool as they can.

A taste of history & tradition…read more Our lunch at #TrattoriadaRomano was unforgettable -- nestled in colorful Burano, this fourth-generation family-run gem has been crafting its iconic risotto the same way since the 1920s, and you can feel that legacy in every bite. The dining room is a living gallery -- walls packed with hundreds of paintings and sketches gifted by patrons over a century. Among them: cartoons of Ernest Hemingway in a hilariously manic duck-hunting scene -- and his signature even adorns their guestbooks. We ordered the legendary "risotto digò" (go‑fish risotto) -- a creamy, umami-packed delight. No cream; just perfectly cooked rice in a deeply flavored fish broth made the texture silky and indulgentTruly, risotto that feels like history on a plate. "A taste of history and tradition" is no exaggeration -- this dish and entire atmosphere are one-of-a-kind. From four generations of love to the art-lined walls, every detail made our meal "unique and awesome."

As a vegetarian, I was afraid I wouldn't get to try any cicchetti as it typically contains meat, or I'm charged the same price for cheese alone. Trattoria de Romano has a variety of cicchetti that ranges in price depending on the ingredients. There was a great variety of vegetable based options, each for only €1.50. I tried the pomodoro, the asparagus cream, the pumpkin cream, and the artichoke cream. The pumpkin cream was my absolute favorite as it was sweet and smooth, but with the pumpkin flavor strong and authentic, not fake or sugary. The artichoke was my second favorite, followed by the asparagus and pomodoro. Pomodoro was delicious and bright, the tomatoes covered in garlic and basil, but it was my own bad for getting a less unique choice, which is why it is listed last. For my beverage, of course, I chose a spritz, a Spritz Bitter, which was a wonderful complement and much larger than others I have ordered, without being watered down either! Service was quick and kind, even giving me recommendations (which has been rare in Italy haha) Stop by and try a few bites!

We had a great day so far and then fate decided to screw that up. We went to Al Vecio Pipa because it looked nice and had air conditioning. The restaurant was NOT busy (I can see why now) and we asked for a seat. The man in black in the photograph sat us and asked what we would like. We told him we would have some drinks and that we weren't hungry as we just had lunch. He quickly snatched our menus from our hands and told us the bar was down the street. Now if It was just me - I would of just rolled my eyes and took my money elsewhere. However, my wife was with me and where I'm from you don't talk to a lady like that. We stood up to leave and I told him sternly he was very rude and he proceeded to cuss me out in Italian. I turned around and took a picture of the restaurant and the waiter for clarity. He's the one in the black shirt with the look of a lonely life on his face. We left and spent $500 elsewhere. Avoid this place at all costs!

Now onto the less good stuff: Everyone here other than us seemed to have gotten good service. Not sure what rubbed the man wrong about us but we never got our dessert and he kinda just threw stuff on our table as he walked by. My husband's lasagna was totally cold on the inside. They have tables outside but then won't let you sit at them which is odd. They also kept saying they only opened two weeks ago, but they have signs for awards from the early aughts in the window and google reviews from years and years ago. Overall this place just doesn't make sense to me and watching several other tables get their meals and checks and leave that arrived way after us was just not great. The food was good, but the restaurant was somewhat dirty. I dropped something on the floor and found the floor was caked with dirt and debris. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place.

But we were tired from a long day of exploring and were opting for something more casual before heading on the ferry back. Prices for the dishes aren't exactly cheap. For a pile of seafood and a drink I believe the cost was close to 20 euros.
