What is the meaning of the word Kokkeriet? Kok means chef. Kokke means chefs. Kokkeriet? Well I don't know. Not even the Danes could tell me. Lars the chef/owner behind Den Gule/Rode Cottage couldnt explain it. I may not know the meaning but I do know however that they make fine food here. Like most fine dining in any city, all of the chefs know each other. We were at Søllerød Kro for lunch and Jan Restorff (the man that knows everyone) the Restaurant manager there said we'd have a great time and that Sammy Kokkeriet's manager would take care of us. We were heading back from seeing some of the fortresses up north and barely made it to catch a cab. As we got in they were expecting us. We were greeted heartily and soon Sammy the manager came out. We talked to him about Jan Restorff and soon, we were taken in as regulars. After looking at the menu, we decided to do the full tasting plus some of the Danish cheeses. The menu went as follows: Gravad grey mullet Potatoes & ramson N.V Quartet, Roederer Estate, Anderson Valley Roe Spinach & egg 2008 Muscat Tradition, Hugel, Riquewihr Chicken hearts Rhubarb, cucumber & oysters NV Crémant de Loire, La Gaudrelle Veal Cauliflower, Danish cheese & almonds 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Glen Carlou, Paarl Duck Asparagus, horseradish & breadsauce 1999 Gigondas, Cuvée Florence, Domaine Les Goubert Beetroot Dried berries & liquorice 2009 Sauternes, Château du Mayne As the dinner commenced sometimes the chefs would come out and help serve the guests. We were lucky to be graced with head chef David's continued descriptions and knowledge of the local produce and meats. He told us his philosophy of doing traditional Danish dishes in his own eyes so you'll see many things that are plays on classics. The food was superb and as our dining continued throughout Copenhagen, we noted how high level the cooking was and down to the bread and butter, things were superb. This is perhaps the closest of the fine dining in Copenhagen that follows long known recipes. Our main server is half Danish/half Korean and lived in a Chicago for a time. She was truly well traveled and knew what we were looking for in our experience. Another one of our servers was Italian, lived in Sweden for school but spoke Danish and worked in Denmark. Sammy has family in New York but grew up down the street. It was a small but very international group of folks here. I think because we had met Jan, our experience was excellent but I see from the passion about the food and service, that tie wouldn't be necessary for a brilliant time here. Another great restaurant amongst a number of greats of Copenhagen's fine dining scene.

This, folks, is as good as it gets in this city: the restaurant may not be *right* on the beaten track, but it's close enough as makes no difference. Not being on the beaten track also gives this place a local, "hidden hotspot"-quality, that I treasure deeply. Having been a somewhat regular patron when I lived in the city, I was back for a quick visit...and they blew me away, as per usual. The quality of the dining experience here keeps rising - I can think of no good reason NOT to give these people their 2. star in the Guide Michelin!? Always creative, always surprising, always a cocky amuse thrown in here and there (carrots served in 5 different ways (carrot-powder being one...!) in a caviar-dish, complete with what appeared to be roe, but was blood-orange gelatine shaped to look like roe, for a total sensory ambush) - I cannot recommend this place enough! Highly trained, international, attentive and friendly smiling waiters make you feel right at home, and the chefs themselves also present the food at regular intervals for a totally satisfactory rundown of the ingredients and the ideas behind the dish. Money permitting, I would eat here at least once a week. This is one of the best kept "secrets" in Copenhagen - get a table while you can. :-)

Its the first time we've been to a michelin star restaurant. We like the way waitress explain the food, their behaviour. The atmosphere was nice and neat, the flowers, modern photographs at the walls... Its time to talk about the good food. Apetizers were small portions and tasty. After that everything that they bring you is another adventure of tasting. we loved all of them. We didnt take the menu selection, we choose what we wanted from the other menu, cheese selection was awesome! Then my husband ate chiken and i ate danish fish.. All of them delicious. And the food was enough that you feel full

First of all, it's strange that there are only a few reviews on this fabulous restaurant. As a person who used to work in one of the Michelin 3-star restaurants, it was never forgettable experience to be in Kokkeriet. The food by David Johansen was divine, experimental and exquisite. The meal we ordered was composed of 13 courses, most of them were small but playing with flavors, textures and presentation. All were worth trying. Every time we were served with plates, we were so excited and curious. Moreover, service was impeccable, and the ambiance was intimate, classy and warm. I think this restaurant is underestimated and less widely known compared with their value.

It took me a while to write this review, but it seems appropriate to give Kokkeriet my 100th review. We went there for New Year's Eve and the food was incredible. We were greeted with a glass of champagne that they kept refilling (I was so drunk by the end of the evening) and they gave us more for the fireworks at midnight. All the waiters and cooks were out in the street with us to cheer and celebrate! The food was amazing, we had around 15 dishes and they are really small portions so you're still hungry when the desert arrives. The ice cream digestive dish (cucumber ice cream) between the mains and desert was really welcome as I was starting to feel a bit full by then. Definitively worth the price!

My husband and I dined at Kokkeriet while visiting Copenhagen this summer and our experience was absolutely fantastic! The thoughtful, creative nature of the delicious dishes combined with the kind, attentive service from our server Othmane made it an evening to remember.

The restaurant's design is definitely minimalist with simple blank walls and a comfortable mix of fake and real plants. There was no air conditioning but they found a fan to keep us comfortable- we were amazed that more folks in the full restaurant weren't sweating the way we were. Perhaps the locals are more used to the summer heat with no AC than we were. We had the 3-course prefixe meal with my my wife and daughter on the standard menu while I was on the vegetarian track. The website says that Host is the Danish word for harvest, and that their focus is "on the Scandinavian kitchen with lots of surprises." The staff used the word "surprises" explicitly, using it to describe the amuse-bouches and palette-cleansing bites served between the advertised courses. We started with a flight of croquettes with cheese and I think my wife and daughter had something like a smoked fish hash of some sort while by I had a delightful bite of salad on a molded sweet cookie tart shell. The baby bread loaves with a special butter were lovely - how do you innovate butter? Great job. My first veggie entree was fried carrots with horseradish, which was grand. Next I had a barley risotto with amazing brown beech mushrooms on top. Awesome. There was a spot of potato soup in there somewhere and the best bite of the meal was another of the surprises - a pre-dessert mochi-like shell with strawberry powder on the outside and hazelnut ice cream (I think???) on the inside. The strawberry rhubarb dessert was excellent also. Such a great meal. Loved it.

Like truly, same app, mains, etc. Service was unfortunately just bad - we were served the wrong dish and then charged for the more expensive dish that we weren't even served, took us forever to order another drink or get anyone's attention. I don't blame the staff, they were definitely working across a lot, but after visiting two of this restaurant group's establishment, I could tell the owners of this restaurant systemically overwork their staff. I'd suggest if you are a true gastronomie fan, try to find a restaurant outside of this group! Not a bad restaurant, just feels a little fake if ya know what I mean.

My picky father loved his waffle. And I really enjoyed the porridge I had. The oats perfectly cooked, the apples and almonds gave it a nice textural contrast. Plus the caramel, which was more like a dulce de leche added the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. My mom was a bit ambivalent because the All In was too sweet. But to be fair, All In includes all of their toppings. Including chocolate and caramel so her assessment was fair! The Grød at 7Eleven had this wonderful chia pudding, layered with yogurt, natural peanut butter, a berry compote and nuts and I was obsessed. So simple, yet so wholesome. I ordered the DANISH NATIONAL DISH and FRIED LIVER (I believe they are #19 and #20 on the menu). Interestingly, the server recommended something similar (another pork belly dish) over the national dish; stating it tastes much better and much softer... which I probably should have went with this recommendation since the national dish was TOUGH AS BONES. It wasn't crispy, chewy, or tasty. It was simply inedible. One couldn't even chew or cut through the meat... the side of skin on mini/small potatoes were simply boiled. The beet dish was delicious. The sauce didn't have much flavor (crazy how extra sauce costs 35 DKK more). The VEAL LIVER dish tasted better than the national dish ironically. Gave a tremendous portion. The potatoes were skinned. The gravy had some taste compared to the other sauce from the national dish. Decadent pickled cucumbers which provided a nice palate cleanser. Mushrooms gave a nice chew, a much appreciated and welcomed different texture. ***the bread given was not good at all*** ***it seems that water, even if it's from the sink or obviously bottled by them, costs money in any establishment*** SERVICE: Kind.
