I had the jalepeno and cheese and chicken tamale. Both were wrapped in banana leaves which gave it a slight sweet taste. Came with a hot red and mild green sauce. The server explained that everything is made by hand. I also had a pork torta which had avocado, lettuce and tomatoes with grilled pork. Very flavorful and the bread was good. I absolutely loved this place. I had the pazole and tamales wrapped in banana leaves. The waitress was very friendly and her husband was the cook. Originally from Mexico, they are pumping out food from recipes handed down for generations through their family. I wish I lived closer, id eat here all the time. Was in the area for some work, and I've been craving tamales all week. When I saw the sign outside on my way out, I immediately stopped and went in. When I came in around noon it was empty, (small dining room) and was able to talk to the woman behind the counter for a bit while I had lunch. I'm really glad to have had such company, she was so sweet! The tamales were wrapped in banana leaves and 100% the real deal. Chicken Tacos were also great, and ya can't beat the price at $2.50 a pop for each (tacos AND tamales, Whaaaaat) Was also pleasantly surprised by the sauces they had too, and she gave me a mango candy with gum I've never had before, but was a perfect pallet cleanser. We were in town for a soccer game and found this hidden gem!! They made fresh GF chips for us. All of our meals were delicious. If you enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine this is the place to stop at. The atmosphere is simple and reminds me of the simplicity of a Mexican cantina along Baja coast. Everything is made from scratch. My family and I ordered carry out. Phone service was quick and efficient. Upon picking up the young woman was very friendly and polite. She made small talk while I paid. She made me feel right at home. I got a chicken quesadilla served with rice and beans. As well as a side of chips and quac. Quesadilla was served with a red sauce that was spicy and smoky in flavor. Absolutely delicious! My fiancé had the enchiladas verdes and he enjoyed his food as well. Even my 1 1/2 year old daughter enjoyed the rice so much that we both had to fight her off our plates. This is probably the most authentic Mexican food that I have had in Maryland. It is SO GOOD. I started off with a Horchata to drink. If you've never had this before, I 10/10 recommend. It was sweet and delicious and, in my opinion, is the best thing to drink while eating spicy food. I tried 3 tacos: pollo (chicken), asada (grilled beef), & al pastor (pork). All of them were amazing! I wish I could pick a favorite, but I can't! I split the empanadas with my mom and again... I was amazed! They were so good! Not to mention the rice and refried beans were delicious. I can not recommend this restaurant enough. Not only was the food great, but the service was amazing. I went on a Friday night around 6:15 and we did not wait more than 15-20 minutes or so for our food (significantly shorter than what I would expect of a busy restaurant on a Friday night). Overall, La Jarochita is a great, authentic, family-owned spot that totally lives up to all the hype. I can't wait to go back again for more tacos! read more

I'm giving this two stars not because of the food but for the reason we won't go back. My husband and I had dinner here a couple of times. The food was good and we would have become regulars, but the young lady who was serving us openly flirted with my husband on several visits both dining in and picking up orders.
