I'm so done with this place. The customer service is absolutely terrible every time and there is zero pride in their business. The cashier always has had an attitude but we were always able to ignore it due to the good food. My husband previously had an al pastor that made him never eat pork again. It had a foul taste and he vomited. Mind you, he had eaten this dish for many years at this location. I encouraged him to return and choose a different meat. Tonight did it for me... I ordered a chicken burrito as usual. The cheese was hard and cold, the tortilla was also hard, dry, and flavorless and not wrapped well. The meat quality has declined and it was overall inedible. I am not a picky eater. The restaurant was cold (possibly saving on energy- I get it) BUT my food was just waiting in the carry out and I had to wait an additional 5 mins just to pay for my food because the register was unattended! Why? Shocker, the cashier was outside hanging out with their girlfriend. Lastly, they charge stupid extra for salsa and they didn't even give it to me. Not to mention the price has significantly increased over the years but the quality has heavily declined. Will never order from here again. Take the trip to El Taco Yummy or Taqueria El Molcajete who appreciates your business and serves phenomenal food. read more

I really had high hopes for this spot after seeing the high Yelp rating but unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. We started off with an order of chips and salsa .. what could go wrong right? The salsa looked amazing but it tasted like an entire bag of sugar was dumped into the salsa. I've never experienced salsa tasting so sweet but it just wasn't good. For my main entree I ordered carne asada tacos, everything just tasted off. For some reason there were carrots on my tacos .. I ate half my taco but just couldn't get through the second. Hidden gem alert! Super satisfying, super legit tacos! And these tacos are huge! They require you to order a minimum of 2 tacos of the same meat, which is a little annoying, but they are worth it! For $3 a taco they arent the cheapest or the most expensive, but they're def value! For a normal person, 2 tacos will prob suffice to fill you up. But hubby and I of course want to try all the meats so we ended up getting 4 different types of tacos (for a total of 8 o.o). We are 2 each and were really full! We got Al pastor, lengua, cabeza, adobada (marinated pork). All were good, but=The best was probably the adobada: great flavor in the marinade and the meat was cooked well. Lengua and cabeza were super tender and meaty in flavor (but just a little more plain in terms of seasoning). And Al pastor was just ok - not the best flavor, but cooked well (not dry) and had pineapple chunks. The only negative we had was that you can only add 4 toppings for free - yes, onion, salsa, lime, salsa are all 4 separate toppings. Additional toppings are 50 cents each I wish they would have a toppings bar! But their green sauce was really good, one of the best we've had thus far. We would highly recommend getting it! (We also really want to try their red sauce) We also got 2 pupusas to go: cheese/pork and cheese/jalapeno (will update when we actually eat them) Horchata was also good and a good size cup! Another negative was that service was meh. The lady taking our order wasn't the most welcoming or nicest and she seemed annoyed when we tried to ask her questions about the food to help us pick which tacos to get, but it wasn't anything that would make me stay away. I definitely wish this was closer to where I lived! We would definitely eat here a lot if we lived closer. For ~$35, we probably got 2.5 meals worth of food for 2 people! This is by far the most authentic and best Mexican restaurant in the DC area. I am surprised that we do not have more authentic Mexican restaurants in the DC area. Most of the restaurants I have is no where close to this one. So I am very glad I was able to have my dinner from here and try out their authentic food. I ordered Al Pastor (Pork Tacos) which is my favorite taco or all time. Spicy pork was well cooked and the juicy spicy flavor blended perfectly with my other toppings (lettuce, Mexican cheese, green habanero sauce, onions). You have to order a minimum of two of the same tacos and you get 4 toppings free. Extra toppings and sides are for an additional cost. Each taco is just $2.99. So price is very nominal. Since I had never heard of Papusas, I wanted to try it out from here. It's like a pancake but stuffed with meat and cheese. I am a huge of pork so both my Papusas had pork and cheese in it. They give you a cup of cabbage and sauce to along with it. Absolutely loved it! It looked similar to a Korean pancake from the outside. The best part was that it was not too greasy and hence pretty healthy. Each Papusa was about $2.99. Prices at this place is very nominal. No wonder this restaurant has an average rating of 5 stars. If live in this part of MD area or visiting MD, this place is definitely worth a visit. read more

Customer service was horrible! There was an extremely rude women who wore a leather cap who was rushing us to order. It was 91 degrees and they had no air conditioning on!! REALLY? Food lacked flavor, Pico was the worst I ever had (Basically diced tomatoes with no flavor at all!!) and don't get me started on the pinto beans. We used to love Del Huerto. Went today and had a terrible experience. Ordered 2 shrimp fajitas and a shrimp taco salad for $60 with tip. All the shrimp were way overcooked and super dry. I asked the cashier for a small side container of salsa as the shrimp were too dry. She argued with me and wanted to charge me 53 cents for the tiny salsa. I told her I wouldn't need it if the shrimp weren't so overcooked. She yelled saying, "so you want it for free, huh, here take it." I said no, I paid $60 for overly dry shrimp. You're lucky I'm not asking you to remake all 3 orders or ask for a total refund without eating. She was extremely rude and disrespectful over a 53 cent small side of salsa. Totally inexcusable. Came here for the tacos. I got the carnitas and al pastor. The tortilla was smooth in mouthfeel yet maintains the corny complexity of a traditional Mexican street taco. The carnitas were juicy and cooked to a proper temperature, but failed to exhibit crispy pork peaks. The al pastor was smoky and tasted complex with light undertones of pinnapple accenting the pork. Decided to try this place since the reviews were so high. Very authentic with indoor and outdoor seating. Portions were HUGE (definitely enough for two meals each of you wanted) and everything was delicious. I ordered the chorizo tacos and barbacoa nachos supreme. The chorizo wasn't too spicy and was crisped perfectly on the grill. Great street tacos made to order with double corn tortillas. One thing to note about the tacos is there is a minimum of two and they must be the same meat. The nachos were also enough to feed an army (actually served three of us, but still great value). Really fresh ingredients with a TON of the barbacoa on it. It was honestly a mountain and every chip had plenty of toppings with each bite, unlike places were the bottom chips have nothing left on top. I will 100% be returning and trying something new. My last five reviews have been positive, and it's time for a little negativity for a change...haha. Sunday night my girlfriend & I were traveling back from Lancaster, PA and took the scenic route through the south PA & north MD countryside. We decided to eat dinner in Westminster, the largest city in Carroll County, which isn't saying much. 3x larger than the next largest city, Hampstead. Although the Census Designated Place, Eldersburg is actually even bigger than Westminster. The only thing I knew in Westminster was the Arby's near the mall, which on a couple of very rare occasions in past companies I worked Carroll County and ate at that Arby's twice and recall they were super friendly. However, my girlfriend & I definitely didn't want Arby's. I parked in downtown, looked at my Yelp app to see what was open, and good nearby. We were only 0.2 miles away from Del Huerto, which had an average of 5-stars with like 32 reviews. This seemed to be a winner. We drove to this sketchy dark parking lot off an alleyway. Next door was a laundromat, which a doorway was connected to the restaurant from the inside of the restaurant as well. FOOD: The tacos and rice were very good. I've had better in the DC area and other areas of the country. But by Carroll County standards, this could be the best in that county. SERVICE: HUGE disappointment. My girlfriend asked for a burrito with extra cilantro, which was fine. Then, my order was unnecessarily difficult because of how they were. I wanted to get 3 tacos. I said, "I would like 1 carne asada, 1 al pastor..." The cashier interrupts me saying that I have to order the tacos two at a time, and it HAS to be the same meat. Surprised, I said really, so I can't get 3 tacos? I can't get different meats? The cashier, bad at communicating, couldn't even tell me. My g/f even correctly pointed out that it didn't say that on the menu. Considering that I would've been confined to one meat, I decided I would change my order. I look at the menu again, and quickly decided to switch to a Torta (sandwich), but I wanted to eat the refried beans separately. I didn't care for them mixed in with the sandwich; perhaps it still would've been good, but I preferred eating the refried beans separately. I asked the cashier, and he said, "I don't think we can do that. Let me check." After checking, he relayed back, no we can't do that. I'm thinking that they are being ridiculous, it would've cost no extra for them to put the refried beans separately on a plate. I switch back to the tacos this time going with two, both of them carne asada, since they were so inflexible to make two different kinds of meat. I got a side of rice too. Also, after my g/f got her burrito, she wanted to check if there was extra cilantro like she asked. The cashier said no, but the kitchen said yes. I found this to be another poor communication of the cashier. SIDE NOTE ON EXPERIENCE THERE: The other bad part about the ordering experience, which was not the restaurant's fault and has no bearing on me giving a 2-star review, was the kids running around the restaurant. I was getting VERY angry with the combination of the ordering and this kid getting in my way while ordering. WHERE ARE THE PARENTS?? WHY ARE KIDS RUNNING AROUND THE RESTAURANT?? RESTAURANTS AREN'T PLAYGROUNDS. THE PARENTS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES LETTING THE KIDS RUN AROUND, AND I HOPE THEY ARE READING THIS. ¿DÓNDE ESTÁN LOS PADRES? ¿POR QUÉ LOS NIÑOS CORREN ALREDEDOR DEL RESTAURANTE? Overall - Disappointing Came in around lunchtime, it was busy, not over crowded. The restaurant was clean, even though it was lunch rush. Price - a touch steep, but not crazy. Value - decent size portions for the money. Food - really the only part that matters. I had a couple of carnitas tacos, a side of rice and beans. Just under $15. Didn't love the price, but was ok with it. At first. The carnitas was probably the greasiest I have EVER had. Now add to that, the greasy carnitas had ZERO flavor. That brings us back to the overall score of disappointing. Maybe it was a bad day, who knows... I do know, I won't go there again. Just finished an incredible dinner at Del Huerto. I'm so full this post is hard to write! But it was so good I had to rave!! We lived in Mexico for a good time & the food here is as close we have found to authentic cuisine. The al pastor meat was flavorful, cooked perfect, tender & melted in your mouth. The carne asada tacos were the same & just plain DELICIOUS. A true delight. The beans are refried and yummy & topped with Mexican cheese, not American shredded cheese like so many other places. The prices are so affordable. The salsa is spicy. It is a hard place to find so keep your eyes peeled! We will back over and over again. So stoked to have found such a wonderful, authentic spot for Mexican food!!!! read more

We were in town for MD Wine Festival and read the reviews on Del Huertas. Gave it a shot. It's a bit out of the way, but we'll worth it. The tacos were excellent. The pupusa was good. Enchiladas del pollo Verde, super! Drawbacks, the girl behind the register needs a course on customer service. When they forgot to make my pupusa, she made me get both receipts, our friends had a pupusa, and got theirs, so she thought we had only ordered one. Eventually finding the receipts, they made my pupusa. Regardless, the food overshadowed the service and more tthan made up for it. read more

I'm mad because I can't believe it took me years to finally give del Huerto a chance. Best tacos in Westminster hands down. Also I tried the enchiladas and I'm absolutely amazed. I haven't had actual spicy enchiladas in about a decade. Only thing that sucks about this location is getting in and out of the parking lot. There's a huge blind spot getting out and a lot of people don't abide by speed limits. Even then it's still difficult to tell if anyone is coming around the corner until it's too late. I noticed someone complained about the English/Spanish translation and communication with the server in another review. While I can understand the desire for the whitewashed caricatures of culture Disney has bequeathed to us, my response to that is: There's a Taco Bell around the corner if not being in a hollowed out, hyper Anglicized place makes anyone uncomfortable. For me, I relish the opportunity to see such a great establishment thriving, and experience a very small taste of their culture-and haven't had any problems understanding the menu (plus, Google is a ready source if you're not sure) or communicating my order to staff. read more
