Tried this new place today with my 13 year old daughter for the first time. Wow was I surprised! The food is very close to authentic. Their food options (like beef tongue tacos) remind me of eating in South America. Staff is nice and prompt. Reminds me of a real Mexican restaurant (but in good condition). We weren't too hungry so we only had a taco and nachos but it was legit. It has a small full service bar and TV's with soccer on..... this place didn't feel like it was forcing itself to be Mexican, it just is. Try this place! read more

The worst part is the owner. If you look at the one star reviews and some of the responses and the way he insults people, unhinged might come to your mind right away. I came here for my birthday and was so disappointed. I was excited to enjoy authentic Mexican food and the tiktok my daughter showed me did a good sale. I drove an hour out of the way and first saw the food sitting out that looked kind of cold and dry. We chose to get the tacos and carnes asada and was informed by the waitress the prices are different from what was on the menu. I asked for a tequila drink and it had mostly ice and tasted more like water than anything. The tortillas were dry and cracked to the point we couldnt even eat with them. The only good thing was the decoration. The worst part was the huge guy in the front of the restaurant. When the bill returned much higher than three plates and a drink should cost, he refused to proved a itemized receipt and also refused to let us speak to the waitress. Luckily, she came by and resolved a least some of the discrepancies. He was rude and said there are many more customers and that we are one of many. read more

Girl take my money cause I'm so glad there's some authentic Mexican food in of Carroll county. This is authentic and such a great spot during the summer. The spices aren't dulled down and the service is quick. But you kno me I always take out an elote for the munchies and I found pictures of my first time trying their elote,, and they are bombbb. Great service and serving very tasty food. They do have some more traditional Mexican dishes as well as TexMex options which is what most people are familiar with. The portions are large and prices are fair. I would like to see a remodeling of the interior as right now it is like a bright cafeteria and lacks personality and a warm inviting atmosphere. I really wanted to like this place, but our experience was rough from start to finish. We started with the guacamole--which was literally still frozen. One bite and it was obvious it wasn't fresh--ice-cold and flavorless. Ironically, the margaritas were the complete opposite: warm with zero ice. For food, we ordered tamales that were drier than the Sahara. I had the taquitos, which weren't terrible but completely bland. My boyfriend got the carne asada, which was tough and chewy--basically shoe leather. To be fair, we did come right after Cinco de Mayo, so maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed or coming off a busy stretch--but even then, the quality just wasn't there. Frozen guac and warm margaritas? Our first visit and probably won't be back. We ordered tacos and flautist. Chicken and steak had no flavor. Tacos were good but meat in all dishes were too bland. Churros were the best part. Servers were all very nice but not attentive. We were seated and asked a few questions and ordered drinks (all fountain sodas) and didn't get them for over 10 minutes. We waited for 20-25 minutes for a server once we were finished for anyone to come over to check on us and bring us the check. They charged $5 for each soda. The drinks cost more than the tacos!! The prices are not listed so no way to know. Overall not a great experience. read more

My family and I checked this place out yesterday. I had the posole, birria taco, and watermelon agua fresca. They make their agua frescas fresh when ordered from fresh fruit. Everything, including the chips and salsa/dips, was really good. I wish I had checked them out sooner. read more

Went in on Saturday. Menu is very unclear. Did not realize that price was per taco. Not sure what else is marked incorrectly but very confusing. Waitresses did not seem to want to answer questions. I have been to the shopping center in Eldersburg quite a few times, and I always wondered about this new Mexican taqueria. Today, I decided to try their tacos for lunch. The rest of this review will detail that this was a great decision! I ordered six tacos because I wanted to try all of them, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to eat each kind that they make. So I got lengua, cabeza, chorizo, carnitas, arabe, and lamb. Thinking that I even *might* be able to eat six of their tacos was wildly ambitious, because these tacos are huge! Thankfully, they are also delicious, so I ate three for lunch, and I'm going to have an awesome dinner with the remaining three tacos. And I'm still pretty astonished at how large the tacos are, and how full of meat they are. They give you a very generous portion of sliced limes and sliced cucumbers. I had never been served cucumbers with tacos before, but I'm definitely a fan because they go perfectly well with the tacos. They also included some green sauce and some red sauce. I cannot really say which is better because I loved them both. I only ordered my food to go, so I can only say a couple of things about the service. When I walked in, everyone was friendly. One guy (maybe the owner?) took my order and they had it ready in ten minutes. Everyone was polite and friendly. The restaurant was well-lit, clean, and nice. Even though I just got my order to go, I would absolutely come back with my family. In fact, I hope to take everyone there as soon as possible! Bottom line -- you should go and check them out to see if you like their food as much as I do. You will not be disappointed! If I cannot spare the money or the time to fly out to southern California, then I'll gladly eat at Taqueria El Molcajete! read more

Went here for the first time and was blown away! We got several different tacos just to try them all out and each type was incredible. The meats were all so flavorful and the portions were huge. We've had leftovers for 2 days, and the tacos still taste great after a quick re-heat in the oven. Also got the special nachos, which the whole family loved. I had the beef burrito, wrapped in a tasty, thin, and crispy corn tortilla and filled with generous amounts of beef, peppers, and Spanish rice.
