I had lunch there today May 9, 2025. Excellent Huveos Rancheros. I haven't had this dish since I moved here from New York City, and I was looking forward to it greatly. Usually love the food but I waited 30 minutes only to find one meal missing after asking if everything was there per the order. Also the online menu requested us to select a kid beverage which included punch but they actually don't have that to go. Really confusing. Having just moved from San Antonio, I've been struggling with finding authentic Mexican cuisine like we had in Texas. Thankfully, I think I've found one here at Echo Freco in a Shrewsbury, PA. My waiter (Juan) was well trained, well mannered and efficient. I ordered the A-Bomb Burrito and although the steak was a bit over done, it was flavorful. And you must try an order of roasted corn! Located in an outdoor shopping center in Shrewbury, PA it's definitely a hidden gem. We were immediately greeted and seated granted it was not busy at all. We got there on a Friday around lunch time. The server came right away and provided us the option to get table side guacamole. The menu is great, they offer several different dishes that should cater to everyone, whether you like meat or are a vegetarian. After going here about a dozen times I can't tell if the quality is really hit or miss, or if some dishes are pretty good and some dishes are pretty bad. Maybe one trend that I can be a little confident about is that dishes with low quality meat are not very good, but higher priced dishes with better meat are much better. So, you could get an inexpensive meal but it won't be good, or you could opt to pay more and it will be much much better. (I don't mean this in the obvious sense that is true everywhere. This effect is much more pronounced here.) read more

The food is very good with excellent service but the ambiance feels more like the North Pole than a hot (caliente) Mexican night because the air conditioning is so high that I was wandering if the meat they wanted to keep fresh was me. I will not come back except if they really lower the air conditioning dramatically. read more

Love this place as the food always tastes great here. But, as of late me and other friends of mine have gotten food poisoning from this restaurant on multiple accounts. Only eat dinning in so you can see the cockroaches inside at this place as getting food to go greatly increase chances that food will be wrongly prepared but look fine and get you food poisoning causing your to go to the ER for throwing up your medications(for seizures) and cause you to go to the Emergency Room because you can't stop leaking out of both ends. Just posted and now I'm reading that there are roaches in the restaurant which explains the sickness I have, STAY AWAY OR YOU WILL GET SICK! read more

Me and my husband tried this place on Saturday, we've lived in the area for 10 years and have never even realized it was here! I had the Chicken Fajitas while he had the Burrito Frezco. They were both delicious! A young man came to seat us immediately. He seemed pretty nice. But our server didn't seem like she wanted to be there at all. We also heard her shouting curse words all the way from the kitchen, which is pretty unprofessional. Overall we will definitely be coming back! First off, we walked in, and it took about 5 minutes for anyone to notice we were in there, it was an empty restaurant. Then wait another 20 minutes for a server to come and ask us what we wanted to drink. Then he disappeared for 35 minutes. When we were ordering our food, he did not write anything down, then came back with all of the wrong food. The food tasted pretty mediocre going down, but then it came right back up. The server was a nice guy, but he was horrible at his job. He rang us up with the wrong things on the check and it was about $15 more than it was supposed to be. The food is great - when they get it right! Our server barely spoke English and messed up both my order and my husband's. Granted - not enough to complain, I ordered shrimp and chorizo tacos and only got shrimp, he requested black beans and got pinto. The food was absolutely phenomenal!!! I really cant say enough good things about how delicious and authentic the meals were. It pains to to write a bad review for how good the food was but I am currently sweating through the 5th round of diarrhea taking place the following morning. My wife also got the Hershey squirts and we live in a house with one bathroom :(. Underwhelmed. I wish I could give 3.5 stars, but I didn't think the experience warranted 4 stars, so 3 stars it is. We started out with the table side guacamole. It was a nice touch, but was under seasoned and a but pricey in my opinion. Looking over the menu, I wasn't particularly excited by anything I saw. It took me quite a while to decide on what was basically a beef chimichanga. My husband had the pork carnitas. The food was fresh, but nothing special. That being said, the service was good. We tried this place a few times. I really don't think their food is very good. We've had a few times on the menu and nothing has been great. The salsa tastes like straight tomato sauce. I ordered grilled veggies and it was full of mostly soggy tomatoes. The guac salad was shredded soggy lettuce. We ordered the carnitas and the pork was dry and flavorless. The pork wasn't seasoned much and very oily. I ordered a bean burrito and received a beef burrito. :-/ I just haven't been impressed and we've given the restaurant a few tries. I was anxious to see Écho Frezco open when I saw the sign displayed on the outside of the building. It seemed like it was taking forever for the restaurant to open. Today, I stopped in the restaurant to have lunch at noon. Originally, I thought the restaurant was going to be a combination carry-out and restaurant combined, but surprisingly I found that it was a restaurant without a carry-out counter. Greeted at the hostess station by a friendly young lady, I was shown to a table for two, in a packed restaurant. While reviewing the extensive menu, a server arrived at my table to take my drink order. I ordered water with lemon and asked the server if I could have the J FRANZCO BURRITO (Rolled 10" flour tortilla filled grilled chicken, chorizo, rice and beans. Topped with Écho dip, guajillo sauce, pico and a drizzle of crema. - $7.99) with shrimp, instead of chicken, and minus the chorizo, since I am a Pescatarian. The server said that it was not a problem, took my order, and said that he would return with my drink, chips, and salsa. The server returned with my water, but did not bring my chips and salsa. I watched the server take chips and salsa to surrounding tables, while I waited. He returned to my table about 20-minutes later with my meal. I asked the server what happened to my chips and salsa. He apologized and at once left my table and then returned with the chips and salsa; a little late in my opinion. While I was eating my delicious meal, I watched a woman, a few tables away, standing at a stainless steel serving cart, chopping something in a large mortar bowl with two chopping utensils. It reminded me of when I ate at a very nice restaurant in Palm Beach, FL when I had Steak Tartare and someone prepared the appetizer at tableside with fresh ingredients. I was not close enough to see what was in the mortar, but watched closely as the woman added ingredients. I saw her add chopped tomatoes, onions, squeeze a fresh lime, and then I knew that she was making fresh guacamole to go with the chips on the guest's table. I had not noticed that the guests were missing salsa until that moment. My meal was excellent and well worth the money; so filling! There was a slight upcharge for the shrimp, but that is the price you pay for being a Pescatarian. I would highly recommend going to Écho Frezco for lunch or dinner. I can say that since I asked for a menu to go that I reviewed thoroughly when I got home. So today's experience was pretty bad. It was an hour and a half from the time we sat down until the time we finished eating. Had to go find someone who would take our order after 20 minutes of waiting. When we did get our food.. we only got half of it.. and the other two with us didn't get their food for another 10 minutes. We watched several people come and go while we waited. When we wanted to pay... again no server to be found.. we had to hunt for one only to find all three standing by the front door doing nothing. So a quick dinner out turned into a 2 hour endeavor. Our first visit, We didn't have too long of a wait to get in however there isn't much of a waiting area. They came over right away and took our drink order and we ordered our tableside guacamole, however it was a while (10 minutes or so) before anyone came back over to take our order however they are still new and pretty busy. Restaurant decor is upscale and not the typical run down look youll get at some of the other local Mexican restaurants. The chips are standard as far as what youd get anywhere else, but they are good. Guacamole is also standard, good but nothing special. I got 2 carnita burritos, they're pretty good. Large chunks of pork inside, definitely more of a kitchen style meal than what im used to. Also ordered where shrimp fajitas. Also pretty good. Overall, I'd come back again, it won't be a full replacement of my other favorite mexican restaurants but an addition. read more

Avoid at all costs! My boyfriend and I were excited about having a Mexican place near his house, so we gave it a shot on a Friday evening. Big mistake. So, right away why does a Mexican place have mac & cheese and mashed potatoes on it's sides menu? Very strange. The menu was also difficult to navigate (and not because of the Spanish), it was not laid out well. And then, it's BYOB, but not a huge issue since a beer store finally opened in the same parking lot. But, I would've preferred a nice house margarita. I'll just skip the food, it tasted alright going down... However, FOOD POISONING. Violent vomiting, etc for hours. Awful. I got the steak tips something and he got carnitas. My wife and I ate here for the first time today and were completely blown away. This is not a typical Mexican food restaurant in the US. This was authentic Mexican food. The food was unique and delicious. The service was absolutely outstanding. We will definitely revisit. I had the chicken flautas which were quite good. The guacamole, which was expertly made at the table, was outstanding. The chips were wonderful. My wife had veggie fajitas and was very impressed. All ingredients tasted fresh! Chips and salsa are given as soon as sit down. The salsa was very flavorful but a bit too grind down for me. The chips were perfect.. thin with the right amount of salt. I am not a big fan of Mexican food but thought I would give this place a try. Had about a 30 minute wait to be seated on a Saturday around 5pm. Service was not rushed once seated. The dish I ordered had some great taste to it but it was very greasy. I had grease dripping down my fingers and hands. Not very attractive. The price was high in my opinion for what was served and the quality. Not sure I would go back unless bored with other local options. read more

I had grilled veggies and black beans, both were good. On first look I was expecting more meat but took half of it home....yes I was full. Could be from the guacamole and chips. Everything I had was fresh. Hubby had a shredded beef chimichanga type of meal. It was topped with lettuce, tomato and sour cream and his 2 sides. Have to say I was too interested in my meal to pay to much attention to his. We did share, his was good and fresh...but mine won! We came here tonight on the recommendation of our friends and were very pleased. Love that you can BYOB. The booths were comfortable, the restaurant was clean, (and so were the bathrooms), our server was attentive, and the food was fresh. I enjoyed my quesadilla, and my husband loved his burrito. My only complaint was that the menu was a little confusing to me. Otherwise, if you enjoy Mexican food, give this place a try, you won't be disappointed! read more
