We ended up walking around the street to find lunch. Contre Allée had many stickers on the door saying they were a Michelin Star-rated restaurant. We were very eager to try the food once we looked at the menu! I believe it changes daily. Ludo was our server. He was very polite and really made a huge impression on us! He was kind enough to make suggestions, translated for us, and gave us a truly wonderful experience. We started with an olive pate with bread. The pate was fabulous! Salty but just the right amount to compliment the bread. We also ordered an Asian-inspired salad to start. We fell in love with that salad! It was bursting with flavor and totally wonderful! I had gotten a steak with fries for my meal. It was amazing! The fries were also perfectly salted and my steak was cooked to perfection. Ludo had made a wine suggestion for us and it too, was great! We finished our meals with a cup of espresso. It was so delectably creamy and smooth. I will dream of that espresso! I hope one day to visit Paris again. I fell in love with the city. They do brunch and events. This would be a good place to host a party as they are quite accommodating and equipped to handle crowds. For tourists, Le Café des Inities is a decent café serving up more than just a snack and coffee. They also have free wi-fi. We stopped in for an early dinner. It was one of the few places open as Paris was shutting down for holiday. Service was okay- a little slower than usual and we didn't get many refills on our water but water isn't the important thing here. The food was. We were hungry and had little options for food otherwise. Le Café des Inities has plenty to choose from including specials of the day. We got the roasted chicken and lamb rillette. Both were cooked as if they were homemade and not rushed out of the oven. The meat was tender and flavorful. The side of potatoes would melt in your mouth with buttery goodness. Sadly, this lamb had a little game taste to it. If you want to play it safe, order the chicken. It seems to be a crowd pleaser. To start, we both had soup- the classic French onion and a butternut squash soup with crème fraiche, bacon, and hazelnuts. The butternut squash soup was interesting as it was very textural. The cream was spiked with something crunchy like ground up cartilage. I liked it. It was unexpected. Price was fair. Le Café des Inities isn't really something to sing home about. In Paris you will experience a wide range of meals. This one lies in the just okay category. Funny is that with the technique of cooking in its simplest fashion it is really done well. Prices also seemed reasonable. Lots of locals which is always a good sign too. The location was perfect for the end of our day, heading back from sight seeing - about a five minute walk from the Louvre on Rue de la Louvre, near the Bourse. We both had beers and Chicken Tika. Surprise- the chicken was on bone and was a thigh and a leg. Just about every other place we have ever had Chicken tika, the chicken is off the bone. The chicken tasted dry like it was recooked from leftovers. The sauce was just okay. Beer was okay. Wished we would have gone somewhere else, since we left still hungry. The server was really good, spoke English and put up with our bad French. The canopy area is also nice, this is located at the intersection of a quiet street and a busy street. For shoe lovers, Christian Louboutin is just right across the quiet street.

What I am is someone that believes good food, well good "anything", should be praised. I don't agree with most people's opinions about the quality of good food. In fact, one restaurant that I went to twice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida was absolutely one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to, yet they received the award for best restaurant in the city! Don't ask me how, unless they bought the award, because I went there twice, once with two guests and once with one guest, and on neither occasion could anyone eat their meal. EVERYTHING was so salty it was inedible. And I only went back the second time because people kept telling me their experience was great. But after spending over $500 between the two visits, I will never go back. Now I know that food, like art or wine, or almost anything is subjective, even mine is subjective. But with all that being said, we were in Paris for 4 nights only, one of which we didn't even eat dinner because we had such a late lunch. So out of the three nights we ate dinner, two of them were spent with Christian at Le Jardin St Germaine. Christian is part owner/host at Le Jardin, and his easy approach and recommendations is part of the charm of this restaurant. It only seats 30 people at any given time, there is no loud music and never a rush to order or leave. Now I know they don't need my review, because on any other site they get a 4.9 rating. Not sure what's wrong with my fellow Yelpers. And I have to say they truly deserve a perfect score. From the easy ambiance to the quality of their dishes and desserts, they deserve a perfect 5.0. We ABSOLUTELY LOVED the place! We had the sea bass and ribeye for our main course, and the calamari for a starter on our first night. Everything was literally perfect. The French toast dessert was incredible as well. The wines that Christian suggested paired perfectly with our meals, and the after dinner French whiskey was deliciously smooth, almost like a fine cognac/high end scotch blend. The second night was equally as wonderful. We had a simple green salad and the prawns for an appetizer, and then the chateaubriand and the sea bass again. Yes, the bass was THAT good! As was everything else we ate there. Please pay no attention to the low rating some people give them on this site. I didn't read any of the complaints, but I can assure you they truly aren't accurate. This will be, in my humble opinion, one of the nicest dining experience you will ever have in St Germaine. Everyone in our party raved about the creme brûlée which had a nice sugar crust and an awesome texture. My dad, who is a world traveler declared it the best he's had. Remember, lunch is a big meal for the French, it is paced more like a dinner in the US, so if you are looking for a quick lunch go to a deli or coffee shop. The chef was serving a chicken dish that day, which was served with polenta. The chicken was very moist and flavorful. Nothing really blew my mind in terms of what I was expecting out of a 2 Michelin star. The service was a bit awkward as well. In my honest opinion. I've been more inspired by 1 Michelin-starred, French restaurants compared to my experience here. I would definitely recommend checking out Michelin-starred establishments when in France, but would probably recommend that you pass on this one.
