    Ox Tail soup

Located in the Hilo Shopping Center towards the backside of the building. Lots of parking shared with many other businesses in the center. I had the Special Ox Tali soup which was on the bland side and the vegetables were over cooked and mushy, the oxtail meat was fall off the bone. The niigiri uni and tataki aki was not that good the uni wasn't sweet and fresh and the Ahi lacked the texture. The pork tofu was okay. The service was good and friendly and the restroom was clean, inside decor was nice. You can charge

Great service and solid food! Food came out quick and was tasty! Definitely a great place to get a quick and calm eat!

Cute little restaurant that's a little hidden! Different types of combos, plates, and sushi to choose from. Combo plate also came with miso soup and seaweed.

It's hard to compare their fish to Japan, but I thought their fish was pretty fresh. I'm not sure if it was just flown in, but it was fresh enough for me. The uni was really fresh. I believe Hilo has a lot of uni so I think it's local uni. Their other fish wasn't the freshest I've eaten. The restaurant is clean, but not modern. The service was good. Their coconut pie was delicious!

Had dinner at this Japanese restaurant located in the Hilo Shopping center. Restaurant Miwa nice small Japanese dinning room with a sushi bar . Prices are reasonable and the taste was good and the portions not too bad. I had their 3 choice Shrimp Tempura, Beef Teriyaki, Chicken Katsu. It came with Miso soup and cabbage. I also ordered their Shrimp Roll a little small compared to most sushi bars . Overall 4 star review next time I'm in Hilo I'll be back . Support local

Philadelphia roll and Spicy Ahi roll (after we had a taste )

We were looking for some comfort food on a Sunday evening and stumbled upon Restaurant Miwa. The service is a little laid back which can be nice but since we were hungry, it was a little frustrating. We ordered the spicy ahi roll, Philadelphia roll, and 2 combo plates. The vegetable tempura was tasty as was the miso soup and pickled cabbage. I was a little disappointed at the size of the sushi rolls. Since they were $12 each, I anticipated them being a little larger. The Philadelphia roll was exactly as I expected, delicious. The spicy ahi wasn't very spicy, as the name had suggested. It may be assumed that another sushi chef may be needed since we over heard our server informing customers that they were not taking any more sushi orders because the chef was backed up The customer service was on point, glasses were constantly filled and hot tea served right on time! Workers were very friendly

Despite the parking lot being quite full, there was still plenty of parking available, and we were seated right away. The menu had lots of options, which made it hard to decide what to order. I went with the Okinawa roll (shrimp tempura and spicy crabmeat inside, deep fried with eel sauce and mayo). My coworkers ordered the Big Island roll and the chirashi don, and they both loved their meals. My Okinawa roll tasted delicious, but it was a little too oily for me - probably wouldn't order it again. The tea I ordered also tasted very watered down, which was disappointing. Service was quick to take our orders, but my food came out way after my coworkers' dishes. Understandable since mine had to be fried, but I ended up awkwardly watching them eat while I waited for my meal to arrive. Overall, a decent sushi spot with good options - just be mindful of what you order and expect some timing issues if you're ordering different types of dishes.

The roll was good, nothing to write home about. Unagi don was good, although slices for the unagi were on the thinner side. Miso soup was nice and hot. There was also live music with a lady playing guitar solo and singing! Service was amazing! We never had to wait long to order/get the bill. We were most impressed by the fact that the waitress made sure to split our Hilo local plate into two plates to make it much easier to share! We almost thought we had received two orders because of how well-plated they were. - Poke tower (8/10): Solid choice for an appetizer! There were ample portions of poke, and the flavors were nice. Not a super stand out dish though. - Hilo local plate (9.5/10): If you want to taste a wide range of Hawaiian cuisine in one dish, I would highly recommend getting this one! The Kalbi ribs were sooo good! They were juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The Kalua pork was pretty good, and both meats paired well with the rice which had an interesting savory haupia sauce drizzled on it. The mango chili slaw and pineapple salsa added a nice tang to balance everything out. - Triple lilikoi pie (5/10): Wayyy too sweet and sugary for our liking, and you can barely taste the lilikoi flavor. We ended up just picking at the graham cracker crust and couldn't finish the rest. It seemed like one of those desserts that are premade unfortunately, and we wish we hadn't ordered this dessert.
