My partner and I both ordered that pad thai, only I ordered mine with shrimp. Hers, chicken, was fine. I spent the entire night with severe food poisoning. Once I felt the symptoms come on, the ordeal lasted nearly twelve hours. We joked about getting poisoned by the looks of the place, but I felt confident once we were served. It's tasted alright. It didn't reheat well, so if you're not super hungry and eating out with someone else, consider sharing one portion. Basic. Inexpensive. Good. This is the 4th time I've been here, and I find the food to be okay each time. The portion size is okay, the seasoning is okay, and the appearance is okay. That being said, I didn't find it to really be anything more than a very inexpensive quasi-Thai food. This really should be called Thai Inspired Chinese food. It's truly NOT actual Thai food. The seasonings are far from real Thai food, the ingredients are inexpensive incorrect close-but-not-actual things that would be used in real Thai. For instance, my Pad See Ew had Cauliflower :( and regular American Broccoli flower heads in it. :( Overall, if you just want inexpensive Asian food and not really looking for real Thai food, this place will do fine. Just think of the food as Generic Asian and you'll be okay. Lastly, the dining and service is okay. It's nothing spectacular, and I certainly wouldn't come here to impress anyone. I'm also advising against tourists to not come here, as I know the mainland has MUCH better and true Thai everywhere I've been on the mainland. We were so impressed by our take-out order I couldn't wait to leave a review for this place. We've tried to be responsible during the pandemic and order take out, and we've had some really bad experiences. But our take out from Bangkok Villa was 100%! The chicken pad see ew was fresh and delicious, and so were my spring rolls. And our Thai noodle soup was still hot and delicious. We forgot to request hot sauce when we ordered through door dash so we called the restaurant and she remembered to include it with our order. I know that doesn't sound like much, but as I've said we have had lots of bad experiences. I don't like leaving bad reviews because I know restaurants are trying to adapt in these crazy times. Although this is my first experience with Thai food entirely, my boyfriend and I were left very PLEASED and SATISFIED after every time we've eaten here (total 3 times). To start off my boyfriend and I deliver for DoorDash and we'd deliver a lot for this special place and every time their food smelled delicious. So one day while delivering an order for Bangkok Villa's my boyfriend decided to ask the customer he was delivering to if the place was great. They ordered a TON of food at least $80+, so he figured he'd be a good person to ask. Anyways the customer said he'd been to Thailand at least 50 times and the food is very similar. They gave us recommendations to try and we went there that day. Our first order we got the Pad See Ew with Shrimp to share since we werent sure if we were gonna like the food. It was AMAZING. Fresh and made to order, the dish was a HUGE portion (would be at least 2 lunches for me) and they definitely didnt skimp on the Shrimps (also very delicious. The lemon provided squeezed all over just elevates the dish. We were so disappointed we got one plate, (well more so my boyfriend because I ate most of it) haha. Second time we visited which was not too long after probably 3 days later. We got more food, his plate the Pad See Ew with shrimp and I decided to try the Yellow Curry with chicken and Jasmine rice. We also ordered the Shrimp Spring rolls. Everything was yet again made FRESH to order. The Yellow Curry was not too sweet had a nice buttery flavor and again the portion was PLENTIFUL. My boyfriend is creature of habit and gets the same things all the time once he finds what he likes and he got the Pad See Ew again (it'll garanz be his regular when we go). But it was CONSISTENTLY yet again AMAZING. The Spring Rolls were HUGE cut into 6 pieces and you get sweet chili sauce as well. Finally our third time going which is today we were yet again left very satisfied with our food. Boyfriend got the usual, still TATSY and AMAZING. I on the other hand always likes trying new thing and i got the Red Curry this time hoping it would have a little spice kick to it. I chose wisely, I got shrimp with my curry and yes it did have a small kick. Nothing substantial but it complimented the coconut milk in the curry. Im sure theres also halves of jalapeños in the curry, so so so good. I also got the Thai Coffee to try and a piece of advice, mix it good or you'll get a mouth full of sugary black tasting coffee and its not pleasant but once I mixed it well the coffee was absolutely yummy. Owners are very kind and you can tell the Wife puts a lot of care into her dishes. Such a great place to grab DELICIOUS FRESHLY made food. read more

Tiny hole in the wall with huge portions and delicious food. It was very easy to order over the phone and pick up. Parking was easy at their location- sometimes it can be challenging in downtown Hilo, but here was great for picking up takeout and bringing it to a local park to eat on a picnic. No need to over-order with extra appetizers here! The pad Thai was delicious, and my husband was really happy with his yellow curry. Summer rolls were also very tasty. The chicken satay was not what I expected- I thought there would be maybe 2-4 kebabs of chicken, but it was a whole plate piled with chicken. I had gotten it for my son, but he is only 3 and could not eat anywhere near that amount of food. The chicken satay on their menu is definitely an entree not an appetizer! We will definitely be back. On our way from Hilo to volcanoes national, I decided to pick up some Thai food for myself. I called to order for a stir fry . I thought the place would be big given the name but it's a tiny place . The lady who spoke to me on the one is the cook and she actually came over to the window to seek clarity on what I was enquiring about on the phone. The food was hot and plentiful. The chicken was def less but they gave a lot of vegetables , not just celery like a lot of Thai places in Seattle :). Unexpected find when our regular go-to Thai restaurant was closed. We were the first ones there and the female owner was literally doing everything, as her husband had not yet arrived. We were blown away by her A-Z service: waitressing, cooking skills, bussing service, cooking countless to-go orders, all that and our water glasses were never empty. She did everything with a smile and was so attentive. The food was incredible and SO FRESH! The portions are large too. We had spring rolls, papaya shrimp salad, and seafood green curry. So Completely disappointed in the coconut milk soup it tastes like bland dishwater. I've been going here for sometime and when I called to give them a chance to remake it she just told me to call back. When I say the soup was not even edible in the slightest. This is a small restaurant with seating for a maximum of 30-35 people. There are about 6-7 tables inside and 3 tables outside. We opted to sit inside. The prices are pretty reasonable for the portion size. My friend got the Shrimp Pad Thai and I got the Yellow Chicken Curry. The taste was really good. It would have been great if you could pay the $1 upgrade to get the sticky rice instead of the brown rice or jasmine rice that comes with the curry. Instead I had to pay the $3 extra for the side of sticky rice. Service was a little slow, but we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. I'd go back again. read more

Our go-to favorite had been the Thai truck in volcano, but as it's been closed for a few months now and it's far away we decided to try somewhere new. Wow, we were blown away with this place. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. I'm sure we've tried every Thai place in Hilo over the years, and this is by far my favorite!
