We went there for dinner on 5/26/15, I am very happy that I booked this restaurant in advance when I only stayed in Copenhagen for just less than 24 hours. Copenhagen was said to be offering world-class dinning experience, most people know about Noma, top 1 restaurant in the world located in this city, surrounded by other excellent Nordic restaurants. It's known that it's not easy to book Noma if it's not months in advance, however, there are a couple alternatives to that. The Radio, initiated by co-owner at Noma, Claus Meyer, was an excellent choice. Absolutely modern Nordic style of food, a Scandinavian taste, with light but delightful food presentation, offers a slow and quality dining experience. High ceiling and quiet dinning room located in a quiet neighborhood. Dinner menu offers affordable 3-course(300dkk) and 5-course (400dkk, $50 ish cost) choice, together with 3 special of the day you can add on to your course selection at 75dkk cost. I chose the 5-course that day: Scallops / Turnip / Rapeseed Oil Mackerel / Asparagus / Smoked Cheese Cabbage / Sunflower / Mead Pork Cheeks / Onions / More Onions Rhubarb / White Chocolate / Verbena Basically, I enjoyed all of them, the spirit of the cuisine offered at Radio is to make each ingredient stand out. The seasonal ingredient are from their own garden, and partially from local farmers, so it's fresh and healthy. It's not a place to make you full, but to make you full of joy and surprise. I love the scallops, the pork cheeks and Rhubarb best, it's definitely worth at least one Mechlin star, it's currently on the Mechlin guide, and I believe it's a Mechlin to be! Visit it before the price goes up once it owns its star! Service is absolutely awesome and professional, the waiter at our table was extremely helpful, event ran outdoor to guide us to the metro station just 1 minute away. Side note: they do charge for extra bottle of water for 100dkk. Highly recommend

We ordered 5 course tasting menu (400DKK each) and an extra dessert (75DKK). The presentation was good, but not wow (see our pictures). Service was great. 0. We started with amuse Bouche - small red-white radish with mild BBQ sauce which was okay. The radish could have been better selected. 1. Our first course was thin ribbon slices of large carrots nicely arranged with white smoked cheese sauce and cured langoustine. Good but not wow. 2. Our second course was Steamed Plaice (a spotted flat fish) which was delicately prepared and remained moist. This came with crispy pan fried cucumber with a sauce of gooseberries. The dish had a weird addition of roasted buckwheat which did not go well with the delicate taste and texture of plaice. 3. This was the best course and was a vegetarian course. Lettuce was lightly pan fried and was still crispy amidst the foamy light whey sauce which was delicious. The fried green beans was an excellent addition which made it a heavenly dish. 4. Chicken Breast was lightly grilled along with some black pepper and grilled broccoli. This was complemented by Danish green peas and tender green pea leaves. This was delicious as well. 5. The final course was milk ice cream with sweet pickled strawberries topped with a sweet crisp mottled with liquorice. This came with some smooth caramel. This was good but not great. Our extra dessert was excellent. It was an apple ice cream with a good amount of meringue lightly burned and burnt white chocolate. This was enhanced by sweet pickled rhubarb which was smooth but had the solid form.

    The langoustine dish.

Enjoyed a 3-course lunch on our last day in Copenhagen. July 17, 2015. First an amuse bouche of baby radishes and a mild BBQ sauce was served. Nice. Our favorites were the langoustine first course and the desert, with marinated strawberries on vanilla ice cream with dried black olives topping. Both great. My second course could have been better if the fish was more prominent, my partner's pork was also very good. One thing that I enjoyed throughout was the addition of textural items using grain, and other items. I already mentioned the dried black olives on the ice cream but also worth mentioning was the rye crunch on the langoustine. Service was great. There were only 3 tables being served. The bill was not extreme.

Really good place. The first 2 course where delicious, but being seafood there was nothing spectacular about them. The last three courses were pretty dam tasty. Onions & barley, chicken, and the carrot dessert was perfect! The unpasteurized cheese was amazing, being that it had to be cured in Germany in order to serve it, but it was made with local milk! Great place overall, German themed wine was good as well!

Outstanding food and service for a reasonable price in Copenhagen. This might be one of the best bargins in town. Hip decor and an extremely friendly and helpful staff make this place very inviting. We stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday and we're quite simply blown away. There is no menu, just the option for number of courses you want. We opted for the five for 500 Kr. Food was amazingly prepared with a perfect balance of flavors. Portions are generous too. There was a scallop dish, a succulent cod dish, a perfect veal dish, an outstanding cheese plate, and quite possibly the most amazing dessert--sunflower seed ice cream. The wine list is quite nice as well. Plan for a 2-2.5 hour visit as the courses come out at a relaxed pace. This place embodies modern Scandinavian food at a great price.

My first tasting menu ever. I had the 3 course tasting menu paired with three wines. Good food in a packed restaurant. I had the Scallops / Herbs / Valle, Norweigian Salmon/ Dehydrated Carrot, and Chicken / Cabbage / Garlic. Smoked salmon was cooked fine and the chicken was very moist. Loved the scallops too. I needed to be gluten free, dairy free, mustard free, and corn free. Great accommodations for me. Loved the food and service.

    Cabbage juice

Outstanding! Have to eat at this place. Every single dish was well thought, paired perfectly with the wine or juice (my husband chose the wine and I chose the juices). The service was incredible, perfect explanation on the dishes, they were very kind and you could tell how pleased they were to serve you. The design is perfect, the place was packed so recommend you make a reservation. If you are in Copenhagen for the food experience this is a must.

The restaurant's design is definitely minimalist with simple blank walls and a comfortable mix of fake and real plants. There was no air conditioning but they found a fan to keep us comfortable- we were amazed that more folks in the full restaurant weren't sweating the way we were. Perhaps the locals are more used to the summer heat with no AC than we were. We had the 3-course prefixe meal with my my wife and daughter on the standard menu while I was on the vegetarian track. The website says that Host is the Danish word for harvest, and that their focus is "on the Scandinavian kitchen with lots of surprises." The staff used the word "surprises" explicitly, using it to describe the amuse-bouches and palette-cleansing bites served between the advertised courses. We started with a flight of croquettes with cheese and I think my wife and daughter had something like a smoked fish hash of some sort while by I had a delightful bite of salad on a molded sweet cookie tart shell. The baby bread loaves with a special butter were lovely - how do you innovate butter? Great job. My first veggie entree was fried carrots with horseradish, which was grand. Next I had a barley risotto with amazing brown beech mushrooms on top. Awesome. There was a spot of potato soup in there somewhere and the best bite of the meal was another of the surprises - a pre-dessert mochi-like shell with strawberry powder on the outside and hazelnut ice cream (I think???) on the inside. The strawberry rhubarb dessert was excellent also. Such a great meal. Loved it.

Like truly, same app, mains, etc. Service was unfortunately just bad - we were served the wrong dish and then charged for the more expensive dish that we weren't even served, took us forever to order another drink or get anyone's attention. I don't blame the staff, they were definitely working across a lot, but after visiting two of this restaurant group's establishment, I could tell the owners of this restaurant systemically overwork their staff. I'd suggest if you are a true gastronomie fan, try to find a restaurant outside of this group! Not a bad restaurant, just feels a little fake if ya know what I mean.

My picky father loved his waffle. And I really enjoyed the porridge I had. The oats perfectly cooked, the apples and almonds gave it a nice textural contrast. Plus the caramel, which was more like a dulce de leche added the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. My mom was a bit ambivalent because the All In was too sweet. But to be fair, All In includes all of their toppings. Including chocolate and caramel so her assessment was fair! The Grød at 7Eleven had this wonderful chia pudding, layered with yogurt, natural peanut butter, a berry compote and nuts and I was obsessed. So simple, yet so wholesome. I found a cup at the airport and proceeded to import it back to the States. Overall, it was definitely worth a visit (or 2) to have my mind blown. I ate herring!! Ok,…read moresmall step back... It was my last full day in Copenhagen and I had yet to eat anything resembling traditional Danish food. So this day was the day! I was exploring the Frederiksberg area and just hoped that I would see something there where I could get a late lunch. I had passed over a couple other places because they were a little pricier/fancier than I was prepared for. But walking past Hansens Gamle Familiehave, it caught my eye and a look at their menu showed it to be in my price range. I was dining solo, so seating was quick and easy. I ordered a beer right away to whet my whistle and go along with my deciding what to eat. I had already decided on getting the mild cheese sandwich because I knew I would like that and I would have something tasty just in case I didn't like whatever else I got. I asked my server for a couple recommendations, and made sure to let him know that I do like fish and was really hoping to try something local and authentic. I settled on one of his suggestions, curry herring. They have paper menus where you mark on it what you want. It is like in some sushi spots in the US. Then they take that to send back to the kitchen, it appears. And worry not, there is English available! The sandwiches are open-faced, build-your-own kind of dish. They can absolutely be communal or shareable, should you be dining with others. One order was sufficiently filling, so with two orders I was more than satisfied with my meal. AND....the herring was delicious! I finished the herring order, and left part of my cheese one. What?! Who am I?! It was really tasty and flavorful. The sandwiches are served with buttered bread on a plate, with a bowl of the protein, and veggie condiments to be added as you like to your sandwich. I really enjoyed my meal and visit here. The only negative was sometimes trying to get the attention of the server when they hadn't been to the table in a while (which...I have noticed is a thing in Europe and an experience not unique to this restaurant on this trip), whether to ask to pay or let them know what I wanted to order. As a solo diner, I can see how bigger parties would get preferred service. It wasn't terrible, just something I noticed and had to work with. I would highly recommend a visit to the Frederiksberg area and a stop in at Hanses would be a great addition to your time there.
