As an owner of a farm-based butcher shop, I rely on PPW for meat wrapping supplies. However they are more than that. They have bulk foods, cooking supplies, paper goods, china ware, and much more. The staff is friendly, always greets me when I step through the door, and remembers me by name when I check out. Ample parking and large carts for bulk shopping. Highly recommend! read more

The PPW is a restaurant supply store where you don't have to prove business ownership to shop. Bulk frozen and dry foods, paper goods, bar and kitchen equipment, containers, cleaning supplies. It's not really dirty, but it's not clean. Many things aren't labeled with prices. Organization is certainly not intuitive. But I've been shopping here (personally and for work - not a restaurant) for years because it's so conveniently close in PVD and just easier than dealing with the behemoth Restaurant Depot in Cranston for a quick stop. But now I've cracked. There's the usual banter with the same manager while I shop ("You shaw you don't need any help? You could do this in half the time." "No, no, I've got a system here.") - you see how he's so freaking amused to have a semi-young, semi-professionally dressed woman back in his warehouse. Then to the checkout: "So how you been?" (third time asking) "Good." (nod) scan items, scan items. "Boy, it wasn't hot in here until you came in." (Oh, it's a hot day. He's sweating) me: silent, steady glare. blink. blink. "Aw, that's just what happens whin ya get old. These things just come outta your mouth." (Pats my hand. He's not "old".) "Hmm... shame." I'm writing this review from the angle that I'm a very serious home cook who also works in the restaurant industry. As a result, I have incorporated restaurant kitchen items into my everyday cooking repertoire and this is the spot I go when I suddenly need a few fish tubs for storing the 20 pounds of sausage I just made or realize a chinois and cambro are necessary for the massive amounts of fresh tomatoes I'm stewing. They had a stainless steel slotted spoon the day I decided to make my own fresh mozzarella. Large stainless steel mixing bowls because...my husband thought it was cool that they were so big... They have condiments, bulk spices, utensils, to-go containers, cleaning products, dry goods, bar supplies, frozen foods, canned goods, strainers, storage containers, syrups, food packaging, and I'm probably leaving out tons more, like rolls of printer paper and pounds of Cabot butter, for example. Bottom line: I don't know if the prices are as good as if you ordered these things through your restaurant or have a Restaurant Depot card, but having worked in the industry for 10 years, I'd say they probably have the thing you ran out of before a busy Saturday night at a fair price. For me, it's a great resource for when I'm making/storing/transporting large amounts of food. And you don't need all the cutesy, matching, colorful, expensive kitchen items from Crate and Barrel/Sur la Table/Williams-Sonoma to run a killer home kitchen. Folks here has always been helpful & accommodating. They have stuff that R.Depot does not.... and vice versa. More of a focus on kitchen tools, imo. read more

No need to have a membership here. Anyone can walk in to get supplies. Restaurant supplies, dry foods, paper goods, cleaning supplies, NSF safe food equipment. Great prices and the staff is really helpful. They don't have as much food as restaurant depot, but more paper supplies. read more

I've gone here many times, mainly for your basic party hosting items. They have a great variety, and usually everything I need. It's not the neatest place, but it's a great source and it's close to everything without being in the middle of everything - so you can easily get there, park easily, walk in, and walk out (if you don't get side tracked with seeing all their other stuff yo just may decide to "need") Owner is nice, polite and I feel he's really appreciative of my business - which means a lot to me. read more

this is a bulk warehouse which looks kind of sketch from the outside, but inside it's a treasure trove of random restaurant supply goodies like a dozen different sizes of ice cream scoops, restaurant grade storage containers, boba straws or a stack of cheap divided plates for my indian food parties. this place is alright by my book, no frills, no hassle. read more

I've been a steady customer (for personal & occasional business use) of the Paper & Provisions Warehouse on Westminster St. for many years, I really appreciate the extensive selection & great prices. HOWEVER I have had the same complaint as Carly B in her review from 6/2011, that my visits there are always been peppered with random come-ons, unwanted attempts at flirtation, and what is basically sexual harassment from one of the workers, a portly, middle aged white guy whose name may or may not be "Wayne", based on the printout on the receipt. a year or so ago, he cooled it down, and I thought, "oh, maybe they read the review on Yelp & saw that they were losing business and someone told him to cut it out, great!" Today, however, as I was packing my purchases into my bike bag, "Wayne" and a co-worker were working together to push a cart full of someone's stuff out the hallway leading to the door. as "Wayne" was walking back into the store past me, he reached out and grabbed my waist, let his hand linger there for a moment, and then kept walking. I was stunned and it took me a couple seconds to say "Don't do that!" He was like "What?" I said "You just grabbed my waist when you walked past, don't do that, it's gross!" He said, in rapid succession, "What are you talking about, I didn't do that... I'm sorry! I slipped on the floor, I had to steady myself on you! I mean, I didn't do anything!" I said, "That's gross, it's embarrassing for you. Don't do that any more!" and left. I talked to the co-worker (a younger man with dark hair) who was working in the parking lot and told him what had happened, and said "I don't know who the manager is, but can you tell your co-worker not to do things like that? it makes women not want to come to this business." I was too surprised by the whole incident to ask who the manager actually was and when I could talk to him, but I'm going to try to talk to somebody next week and file a complaint.... I'm sad that I can't go to this business any more because I have to feel like I am on my guard against men being gross and touching me unwantedly! this is terrible business practice, not to mention just poor form, to allow this guy to continue acting this way to women. read more
