This place is a family favorite. We go to Zihuatanejo about every year and always make sure to visit Any's. The tortilla soup is a family favorite and I also ordered the chicken leg with a red mole. A little on the sweeter side, but the sauce is smoky, earthy, warm, and delicious! I also highly recommend the posole. Food wise, Any's is amazing and we just can't get enough! I recommend showing up earlier (before 7ish) to get a table. We had a group of ten and it took over an hour to get a table, which was totally fine since we just went to the bar right across the street to wait. I also recommend going early if you do not speak Spanish, since it is difficult to flag a waiter and put your name on the list, especially when people are swarming the entrance and lining up during busy hours. We took a family trip to Zihuatanejo last month, and though we mostly stayed at our hotel, we hired a guide for an afternoon, and he brought us to Restaurante Any for a spectacular lunch. The ambiance and service were great, and the food was absolutely delicious. We have a lot of good Mexican restaurants in L.A., where we're from, but if Any were to open up a second location there, it would instantly be in the top tier. Any is in what seems to be Zihuatanejo's main downtown stretch, a large, colorful restaurant with a lot of big tables and a merciful level of ventilation. The space was friendly and vibrant, and we were able to walk in with nine adults and two children without a reservation. Service was excellent, fast and attentive, and between my shitty Spanish and our waiter's more serviceable understanding of English, we were able to communicate without a hitch. There was a wide variety of margaritas on offer and I could not resist a frozen strawberry margarita, pink and slushy and vacation perfect. Neither, unfortunately, could my two-year-old son, who saw it and said, "I want to drink that." Fair is fair, so I got him a virgin version, which he loved. It's been over a month, and he still requests his own cocktail when he sees us drinking anything cold and colorful. The food was outstanding. We put in a large family style order and there wasn't a single miss. There were complimentary tortilla chips with green and red salsas, and we got the guacamole "Any," fresh and chunky-creamy, served with cucumber, jicama, chicharrones, and more chips. The only other smallish dish was the Mexican-style shrimp cocktail, with plump shrimp in a zippy cold tomato sauce. Everything else was very much entrée sized, including the single tamales. These were amazing. I guess Any is known for these tamales, and I would recommend getting at least one each of the pork in red sauce and the chicken in green sauce, both steamed and served in plantain leaves. I'm not sure I've ever had tamales this good anywhere else. The masa was so fine and soft, and the meat and sauce were fantastic. The other non-negotiable must-get dish was the pozolero platter (though if you don't have a giant family, you can just get the pozole). We got the green pozole with chicken and it was superb, fragrant and homey, rich with flavor and swimming with tender meat and hominy. The platter came with chicharron, tortilla chips, radish, green peppers, chopped onion, lemons, oregano, chile piquin, fresh cheese, avocado, and a chalupita, which was a little boat of fried masa with beans and cheese. As if that weren't enough, it also included a round of mezcal, served in tiny clay cups. I'd recommend everything else we got, too, if you have space on your table. The red mole enchiladas were utterly satisfying, stuffed with chicken and covered with mole, sour cream, and fresh cheese, with sides of rice and beans on the side. The giant arrachera tacos were excellent, handmade tortillas with flavorful grilled beef skirt, served with refried beans and nopales salad. The garlic fish fillet was good too, if not the reason you're here. A nice piece of fish with a green salad, rice, salsas, and tortillas. If you're visiting Zihuatanejo (or if you live there and read Yelp reviews written by Americans for some reason), Any is well worth leaving your hotel and wandering away from the beach. I don't live anywhere near this restaurant, but I intend to go back one day. read more

The best dish hands down is the Posole Verde! Huge portion sizes, even the appetizers were too big for me. We also ordered the ceviche Acapulco, which was on the sweeter side for me, but nothing that a few heaping drops of Valentina's couldn't fix. I also ordered the shrimp and fish tacos, which were very disappointing. The only filling was cheese and over cooked fish and shrimp, which seemed mashed together and resulted in an unpleasant texture. The aguas frescas (Tamarindo flavor) was good, but a bit too watery and not enough Tamarindo flavor was coming through for me. The decor was beautiful and authentic, and overall good experience. Glad we tried it as it's always busy, but probably will skip next time we are in Zihuatanejo. read more

Cute causal restaurant with lots of good food. Heard about this place from travel guides and friends. Hostess was nice and friendly and welcoming. Our waiter spoke English and Spanish and was very helpful finding vegan menu options for me. Unfortunately we werent able to try the infamous pasole (I'm vegan and partner is pescatarian) but we did manage to have other delicious food. I had a garden salad and the tortilla soup which were excellent and my partner had shrimp tacos which were also wonderful. The place is cute and was completely full with locals by the time we left. Hubby and I have been to Ixtapa a few times. Decided to try something different. Let me tell you u, if you ask a local where they like to eat, you can't go wrong. Trust me on that. And this is how we found this plate . As soon as we walked up, we were kindly greeted. Don't be discouraged by the small hole in the wall Place this establishments appears as. Go in. Limited seating. But does not get crazy busy. Small kitchen, but full bar. Big plus, our super kind waitress spoke English and Spanish. Which was very helpful when it came to the menu. Our appetizers came out rather quickly and hot. Perfect. Our drinks did not come out as fast. But, our bartender was the only bartender making all the drinks and he took his time making each drink. Our drinks were delicious. Perfect. As far as the food, our meals came out hot, had wonderful presentation, and the food tasted absolutely amazing! Omg. So damn good. So much flavor in every single bite. And let me tell you, serving sizes are rather large. You will not go hungry here. And when it comes to pricing. Reasonably priced as well. Definitely affordable. Ok, so we walked past this place and I had immediately thought... no way am I going into this place, due to the gaudy decorations and colours. I read a few reviews and Any had some high reviews, so I suspended my disbelief and thought, let's give it a try. I'm sure glad that I read the reviews. Restaurante Any lives up to the reviews. We walked up and we were immediately greeted by a very friendly gal and she wanted us to come in, but not in a pushy way. We were lead to a table near the back, and offered up some menus. The menu is huge ! I landed on having the Chicken Mole, and my wife went with the fried fish. Our server was very patient with us as we definitely took a bit of time to wander through the menu and decide. One thing to note, there were tourists in this place, but there were a number of locals as well. Which tells me a lot about the place. In no time our food was on the table, hot and fresh. The Mole was to die for ! My wife's meal was delish as well. There were 3 additional sauces on the table (didn't get the names), but one was dark like mole, but had a very subtle smokey flavour. Overall, Food is excellent, service was top notch. The interior was garish and gaudy but make no mistake it was fun. There was even some local entertainment that played that evening. Ventured out to Any for an authentic meal. I enjoyed the taco sampler ( ground beef, chicken, and pork). The portions are so generous I ate tacos for three meals the next two days. The ambiance is bustling. With a live band on hand it is lively and fun to experience. Had a delicious cold beer paired with freshly prepared guacamole and a selection of salsa of varying degrees of spice levels. This location is a favorite of the locals so it is busy. It was a bit distracting to be approached by street vendors while dining and service was a tad bit slow. The food is delicious! It was easy to find because the taxi drivers all know the spot. You absolutely must have the posole here! We ordered the small size and it was quite adequate at that size; I can't imagine being able to eat the large size! The presentation was great-the posole bowl was central on a large plate. Surrounding that were numerous smaller vessels containing various toppings including some dried peppers, radishes, onions, avocado, pork rind, lime wedges and oregano. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Oh, and the order comes with a small cup of mescal-which is apparently traditional to serve with posole. Great mole, sopes, tamales, and enchiladas! The tortilla soup is the best I have had anywhere. Ask for chicken and it will come grapes in a bowl, topped with 1/2 an avocado over which they pour the hot broth. Toppings of more tortillas, crema, manchego(?) cheese make it a do-it-your way soup. They do have sangrita ( not to be confused with sangria); it is tasty and nicely presented. Try to save room for dessert. I can vouch for the naranja Helladic- big enough for two to share. read more

Locals told us this was the place to go. It's by far the best meal we've had in Zihua. Group of four. We ordered enchiladas, one rojo, one posole, both amazing. The other two ordered sopes and tostados. Everyone was super happy with the meal. Chips were great, green salsa was super spicy and tasty, red sauce was sweet and smoky, also super tasty. Margaritas were really good. Sad to say I definitely got a locals only vibe. When we arrived for dinner our group was told to come back in 30 minutes. We went across the street for a beer while we waited. We came back in 20 minutes and the list in her hand clearly showed there were several groups that arrived after us had already been seated. After another 25 minutes we were seated. Shortly after, three Mexican families were seated after us. Groups of 5-6. Their groups each got their drink, food and check before we did. We ordered simple drinks and simple food. At the end we had asked for our check and all three of the groups that were seated after us were long gone. We waited another 10 minutes for our check. I ate at Any's a couple of times while in Zihuatanejo visiting my mother. The waiters are generally nice and helpful, and the food was overall quite good. My first meal was particularly good with three enchiladas, three different meats, and three sauces (rojo, verde, and mole). The mole was particularly delicious (an unusual flavor range for the typical non-Mexican U.S. citizen palate). I highly recommend this place both for atmosphere and consistently good food. The seating was clean and comfortable. The menu can be overwhelming... But, there are photos of some of the most popular items. This is a can't go wrong place for great Mexican food with a better variety of options than many of the smaller beachfront spots in Zihua. Prices are very reasonable and service is good. I hade the enchiladas - and you can mix or match your choice of fillings. They were topped with a rich dark mole that had a good dose of dark chocolate. Came with rice, beans, and of course chips with three types of salsa. A cold Tecate to wash it all down and I was a happy camper. They are only a couple of blocks off the beach front so if you're in for a day on one of the cruise ships it's worth the short walk over from the water. read more
