A beautiful rooftop view overlooking the water with delicious food and friendly and attentive staff. Roberto, the chef, greeted us and was a delight. The catch of the day, mahi mahi, was cooked to perfection. We finished off our meal with a lemon dessert that was a recipe of Roberto's grandmother. It was light and refreshing and paired nicely with strawberry ice cream. Would highly recommend eating here. Be sure to make reservations.

What a lovely find! I suggest you make reservations, and it is well worth it. Really great prices for wonderful food and excellent service, with a view to match! Robert, the owner and chef, came out to thank us for dining. The servers were very attentive and so sweet. It was our anniversary, and they brought us beautiful specialty chocolates flown in from Oaxica, my favorite had passion flower flavored centers. The dark chocolate was to die for! We asked to buy more to take home and were able to for 5 pieces for 100 pesos. We started with a wonderful appetizer of calimari, sauteed in garlic on a bread bed. They also gave us very soft, homemade bread and garlic butter. There were 4 of us, each had a different entree, and we all loved them. I included pictures. I had bacon wrapped stuffed jumbo shrimp with Mexican squash, my husband had the chicken satay, and or friends had flank steak and the catch of the day in banana leaves. We will look forward to returning!

We did not have reservations but were fortunate to get a table with a great view on the 2nd floor. The service was excellent, the food was very good. Two entrees, a bottle of wine, dessert and coffee for under $50 US. Worth checking out. You won't be disappointed.

View from Casa Bahia and the food is even better than the view!

Delicious food made by the owner and chef, Roberto. Call ahead for a reservation if you can. Recommend the Zihua catch of the day and the flank steak!

Casa Bahia is located on the North side of Zihuatanejo's bay. It is on one of the oldest roads in the area that runs adjacent to the ocean. It has a beautiful entryway with the staff waiting to greet you. We were led into the restaurant which has two levels, both are open air and have stunning bay views. Pretty lights decorate the railings. The waitresses work in pairs and were very sweet. There is a good liquor/wine list with wines averaging $12 a bottle American. We started out with a terrific Caesar salad. It was perfect, with homemade dressing and big garlicky croutons. Next was sailfish carpaccio. Never had better. A generous plate of thin and buttery fresh sailfish dressed with olive oil, sea salt, onion, habanero, lime and cilantro. My entree was local Sierra, a type of mackerel, cooked in a banana leaf. It was perfect. Fresh mackerel is amazing, not oily or fishy. My wife had coconut shrimp over white wine risotto. They were perfect. Presentation was beautiful and the chef came out to ensure our meal was enjoyed. Don't miss this lovely restaurant. It is quaint and charming, it offers a different view of the bay and the food rivals any in the area.

Finished with the artisan chocolates and "Grandma Cuco's lemon dessert" which was a lot like lemon tiramisu.

We were in Ixtapa for a 8 day vacation. On our 6th day we decided we wanted to stay close to the…read moreCondo we were staying at (Bayview Grand Marina). We had researched the area on our Mapquest and found El Galeon. We went to their website ( which brought us to YELP) where we found they were rated 4.7 out of 5 stars. (The lone "2/3" star came from someone who stated that she had lasagna which was cold but the service fixed the issue after what she felt was a long time) All the other ratings were 5/5 star with many mentions of Francisco who was their waiter.( more of Francisco later). The walk was a 6 min walk from our condo, so we decided we would make El Galeon our evening dining experience. We approached the entrance just off the Mariana where we were met by none other than Francisco himself. He greeted us with smiles and in a very polite and friendly voice he asked if we had made reservations ( we had not) he took us to a very nice table where my wife and I sat comfortably awaiting menus. I made mention to Francisco as to the reviews that brought us to El Galeon with many making mention specifically to him and his great service. He was surprised in hearing people had mentioned him directly and was appreciative.. he lived up to the reviews, the food was amazing (we had shrimp cocktail to start, margaritas and wine to quench our thirst and for the main entrees my wife had pomodoro and I had fettuccini Alfredo.) large portions served with garlic toast. DELICIOUS! Highly recommend!
