    Naranja-Plátano

The best chilaquiles in Zihuatanejo! Get one of their juices I recommend their naranja-plátano (orange-banana). If nothing else try their chilaquiles red or green you can't go wrong. Ask for a fresh warm bolillo on the side to help gather the rest of the sauce and you won't regret it. This place is always buzzing with people, mostly locals (always a good sign). The service is excellent and they accept credit cards too.

Enchiladas - pretty plain looking and unfortunately pretty plain tasting too :(

Found our way to Margaritas on a Sunday around noon. We had read that Sunday you get brunch. Ok. Great. The outside of this place looks really upscale and when you walk in the same cleanliness and chic that is on the exterior. We were greeted and lead to a table. They have floor fans scattered around and they aim those at you to help keep you cool. Nice touch, but the fan is aimed right into your face. No problem, I'll just aim it down. There was a server that came over to us and asked us if we wanted coffee, and when we said we didn't, he gave us a bit of an incredulous look and then quickly gathered up the cups which he had started putting down and then immediately left. But wait... I haven't ordered yet. So we sat for a few more mins (10) and watched as other tables were getting food and drinks. We found out that the server for Coffee is all this person does. But along with coffee comes with a choice of some breads. what you don't get if you don't order coffee is what we surmised. Ok, so we were on the verge of leaving when our server came over to us. We decided to go with some orange-papaya juice and the enchiladas. Thinking that the juice would be out to us in no time, we again waited. About a minute before our food came to the table our juices came out. I think I had higher hopes. It was not cold juice, or even cool. Taste-wise, it was ok, but I think I was hoping for better. The enchiladas came, I had order chirozo, my wife had ordered the chicken. Both came with refried beans. Both were equally as plain as what they looked Overall, I really, really wanted to like Margaritas, it has a great space and looks like it would be a great place. Instead it was just ho-hum. Not bad food, but certainly not as good as it could be. Did I order the wrong thing ? Maybe, as some of the other tables looked like their meals were much more exciting. With other choices in Zihuantanejo, I maybe back to try something else. or maybe not.

It was very hot while we dined and there was no breeze. A fan would have been wonderful! The bad: You choose 2 or 3 courses for $1300 or $1500MXN. At this price, you expect really exceptional food. This just wasn't the case for us. I ordered the steak, which came with a green sauce and potatoes. The potatoes were delicious. The filet was more like a sirloin but was more tough than a sirloin. It was very disappointing, but more than that, when the server asked how everything was, he seemed as if he already knew the steak was tough. I ended up getting the coconut shrimp (4) instead. They were served on a bed of cooked and spiced apples along with a salad rolled up in thinly sliced jicama similar to a sushi roll. The second course I ordered was dessert. The pictures don't do the presentation justice because it is so dark, but the food is beautiful. Paying this much for coconut shrimp and dessert (basically a molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream) really left me feeling very disappointed. Would not recommend nor return.

The octopus was delicious and we managed to order all four of their desserts are such a beautiful, quaint setting.

Since we are celebrating 30 year anniversary, we wanted something special. Located on the Promenade near the fishing boats. It was authentic, and service was friendly and prompt. Our starter was Guacamole with thinly sliced and fried plantains, with crumbles Mexican cheese on top. A green spicy salsa, and one that I thought was sundried tomatoes but was charred plantain and chilis, which was sweet and amazing. It was delicious. Another appetizer was tuna (catch of the day) tartar. Fantastic. The main dish was catch of the day. Mine was charred Red Snapper with chili's and corn garnish. It was so good, I even ate some of the skin. The fish was cooked perfectly, moist, melted in your mouth. My husband had Seared Tuna, he said was the best ever. We are foodies from San Francisco, California and felt this dish would be in the Michelin Star category. We forgot to take pictures of the food, but now that the book is finished. Go there, see for yourself. Hopefully, you'll also have a fantastic experience.

Hopefully they will update some I let them know it was open. This time was perfect. The ambiance was lovely. It is not by the beach, but is really pretty with a water feature, open airy feel and live music. This year the music was nice, and we all got up to slow dance. Very romantic and fun. Our best friends that we were with also enjoyed and both couples enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. JD, the captain of the servers, was super friendly and attentive. Judy our server was super sweet and attentive. Top notch service for sure. The BBQ ribs were great! Our friend had the quail, and she was not impressed. Pork chops were really good also. We had Caesar salads (fresh, crisp, not overdressed), my husband had the shrimp chile relleno (I did not get offered the traditional bite to taste and his plate was wiped clean, he said it was really good) and I had the snapper and shrimp in a cream sauce with mushrooms and jalepenos and veg/rice - the fish and shrimp was very good, not a bit of that left; the vegetables were cooked properly, not overdone, rice was also properly cooked. We shared the Z lime pie for dessert, which had a sorbet type consistency vs a custard - very cold and refreshing. Our server was attentive but not overbearing and was fun to visit with. Am so glad we decided to try La Casa Vieja, we definitely will be back now that we know what we've been missing.
