I've been spending lots of days here in Zihuatanejo and keep coming back to Maderas . Beautiful little restaurant on the beach that satisfies any craving weather it's for drinks or food they got a great menu. The food here has been on point. The service up to par and always accommodating and o anything I need. I love that they offer beach chairs as well. I truly recommend this spot here located in playa madera. Definitely one of my favorite places here in zihua. I will be making this a ritual dinning location Everytime I visit this wonderful paradise. read more

Everything is the best at Maderas! It's located on the beach at the Arena Suites, which is where we stay. We ate here each day, sometimes for breakfast, some for lunch and often for dinner. We would try elsewhere for dinner, but the food was never as good. The staff gets to know you and we also knew each of their names. Armando and daughter Priscilla run a great restaurant. The ambiance cannot be better, literally in the sand at the edge of the ocean! Don't miss this gem. I personally liked the enchiladas Suizas best, and the avocado filled with shrimp is a favorite of us all. The never oversees it all and the service is top notch. Candlelit dinner on the beach is very romantic! We have come 3 different years and will keep coming back to our oasis at Maderas! read more

Wonderfully romantic dinner on the beach, toes in the sand, excellent service by Efren. The meal was very very good - tortilla soup, fajitas and ahi tuna, but the attentive service took it over the top. The sun went down, the lights around the bay came up, a memorable meal in a beautiful spot. read more

Alright, so this a beach restaurant so expectations weren't too high. But they beat them. It's on Madera beach so we had to walk and the restaurant sits on 2 levels. It was over 90 in May so we sat on the upper level and the breezes were very cool. We were the only ones there and the main level was packed and hot. Just a beach shack so ambiance was just that. Now to the food - my wife and I shared a Red Snapper ( huatchinango. They brought it out to show us size and freshness) a la veracruzana. Excellent! Just a shade overcooked in my wife's estimation but I thought it was spot on. Tender, juicy and oh so flavorful. We started with first rate ceviche and some guacamole. What a gem! This was our first trip to the area, and we chose to have dinner at Maderas based on it's location. The tables are literally in the sand, and the lights, music and ambiance is spectacular. The food (and the margaritas) was the best we had during our time in Mexico. Excellent setting and food. I was excited to try this place because online the menu showed a separate vegetarian menu which is hard to find in Mexico. When we arrived we were seated right away under an umbrella facing the bay with excellent views. The restaurant was mostly full. All of the waiters were friendly and helpful and made you feel like you could relax and take your time. We had several drinks and lunch. There was not the same vegetarian menu but there was one vegetarian option that they were happy to veganize for me- veggie tacos and they were delicious. My partner had pescado el pastor tacos which also were excellent. Such a great vibe with excellent food and perfect view. read more

Came here for a family dinner on a Thursday night based on the stellar reviews. Around 5ish they move the tables out onto the beach and it makes for a beautiful setting to watch the sunset. Our party of 8 all ordered different dishes. Although there were only two other tables occupied it took quite a while for our food to be delivered and that's where it went quite unfortunately south. My grilled octopus looked good however it was cold and had an odd flavor. My wife's skewers were bland and also cold. My brother in law had the "hamburger" which turned out to be some sort of steak (not a hamburger patty inside) he was spitting out gristle every other bite. It had thick chunks of unmelted cheese and it was cold like all the other dishes. Free dessert was offered to make up for the quite frankly terrible food. I said to the waiter what's your favorite? Banana flambé. We accepted and the table side prep was entertaining but all of us felt it was inedible? I don't know why the discrepancy with the other reviewers was so marked but our experience did not align. Were it not for the beautiful surroundings this would have been a total dud. Super disappointing. If you're just looking for ambiance fine but if you want to enjoy food then eat somewhere else. read more

My dorado, the house special, needed quite a bit of salt to give it some flavor. I was not impressed, but I shouldn't have ordered it. I probably should have stuck with the lobster I was originally going to order but the waiter talked me out of it by telling me it really wasn't as big as the half kilo made it sound. My wife's pasta with shrimp was much, much better. The shrimp were prepared to perfection. We had bananas flambé for dessert that was pretty good with a spectacular tableside preparation, although it didn't measure up to the original bananas foster we had in New Orleans. Really good waiter and service. This is not an easily accessible place to get to if you are with someone with mobility issues. It is on the beach down an exceptionally long flight of stairs. read more

This is a must dining experience. Amazing, amazing food (line peppered tuna) with the best sauces ever matched with Cuervo Gold margaritas. Some of the best meals I have had in my 50+ years of traveling. And all so affordable. We kept going back after trying other restaurants because it was the best by far. If we stayed longer, we would have visited Maderas again. The entrees we ordered were good and prices on par with the other restaurants we patroned. They had a nice setup right on the beach. Aside from the waiter, both owners checked in on us and were very friendly. Their only mistake was they gave us an extra ice cream that we didn't order. Also, their brownie wasn't very good. What a wonderful surprise to learn that Armando's was serving dinner nightly right on the beach. The ambiance is fabulous. You literally have your feet in the sand with the waves splashing near by. The wonderful ocean breeze throughout dinner makes it a comfortable evening underneath the stars. Priscilla, the general manager is a true highlight to the evening. She is warm, welcoming, and quick to recommend dishes or answer your questions. The food, wine, and ambience were so good that we ate there three nights over our Christmas/New Year's stay in ZIH. The service is spot on with wonderful and attentive servers, delicious food and great wine. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
