Delicious fish. Well, they do sit right on the beach. I could swear they stepped into the ocean and caught it. It's so fresh and tasty. We had the Bachalhau, divine, so tender and flavourful, and the Tuna, which was also delicious. We were surprised it was not busier. A must try if you are in Salema. read more

Overpriced, attitude, and horrible coffee. Caters to tourists. Good location and views, but not worth it for the food.

Really disappointing. Great view but that was the high point. We ordered cafe con leche and the waiter brought 2 beers to the table. After correcting he returned with two coffees that were just bad - weak. We've been in Portugal for two weeks and this was the worst coffee we had by far. Vegetable soup was okay as was the grilled chicken. Waiter had a bit of an attitude. Definitely a tourist place. We've had great meals at small cafes in little towns in Portugal and this was just so disappointing. Afterwards the manager for our hotel confirmed that she doesn't recommend Atlantico so our disappointment is not an outlier. read more

Food was excellent. Service was very attentive and helpful, and we had a table right by the beach. I had a delicious fish soup, my wife had tomato's and mozzarella capreze salad. For entre I had a delicious sea bass with salt and herbs, my wife had a very surprisingly good burger and fries (she doesn't do fish). I highly recommend a visit here and it was the best of the 3 or 4 restaurants in the tiny town of Salema. Don't miss it. Prices are reasonable also! Do not miss! read more

My wife and I were drawn to this restaurant by the wide variety of items on their menu. We arrived around 6pm with no reservations and were able to get a table on the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean . They do have quite a bit of seating available inside as well. My wife ordered the fish kebab while I got the prawns tagliatelle. The fish kebab was made of halibut, tomatoes and onions. It came with a healthy serving of cooked carrots and a couple small potatoes. My wife gave her dish two thumbs up. The prawns in my dish came with the heads and tails still on meaning I had a bit of work in front of me cleaning them up. Overall my dish was just OK. I wasn't a fan of the sauce. The portion was more than enough though. We had a local bottle of red wine to go with everything. Service was spotty at best with our original server just disappearing. We had to flag down another who took care of us the rest of the way. read more

Atlantico has a perfect location on the beach in central Salema, so it's easy to find and offers great views. The restaurant was recently re-done, and is beautiful. The staff was very friendly, and all were fluent in English. I had expected the typical Portuguese restaurant service - hands off, not much conversation - but our waiter was both funny and generous with his time. It probably helped that we were there in late June, before the peak of tourist season. The food was excellent. We ordered the sea bass special for 2, and it was great. The following day we ordered the cataplana for 2, was also great, but a lot of food. We definitely could have fed 3. The chocolate cake is good, and we tried the amarguinha on their recommendation and really enjoyed it. We ended up spending more than we expected, about 80 euro per meal (with water, wine, bread, main, dessert, dessert wine), but had such a wonderful experience that it was worth it. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough for a slightly fancier dinner with spectacular sunsets. read more

Such a disappointment! Our air b and b host raved about this restaurant. Beautiful location without a doubt but they seem to cater more to large families who will probably spend a lot of money. Had two oysters -2.80 euros for one. Had the fillet of sole which they insisted was the freshest catch. Food was OK but nothing special but the real problem was the surly waiter. I finished my glass of wine well before the entree and no one asked if I wanted another. I would never go to this restaurant again. This seems like an old tired restaurant who is able to stay open because of their reputation and returning vacationers. Across the street is an all you can eat sushi place with much friendly waiters! read more

The worst service we've had in Portugal. It was so disappointing and unusual to feel so unwelcomed at a restaurant. We came I guess at an odd hour - 4pm, but then it is a beach town, we were jot the only ones there. If was somewhat busy, cut you can see the waiters were getting ready for the dinner time. So we waited... and waited... and waited... Our waiter didn't pay attention to us at all. He looked annoyed by our presence. The food was good I have to say. read more

One of my favorite meals I've eaten. My friend and I enjoyed the special fish of the day, sea bass, which came with veggies. We also ordered the cheese starter. It was a different cheese than I've ever had and was delicious. Sort of like if Brie & cheddar put together. Tangy but creamy. When I passed by the gelato stand, I knew dessert was a must and it was worth it. Phenomenal food, great service, and a view of the ocean. Must go! read more

Right on the beach, excellent food, good service for $55 US dollars. I had the monkfish and shrimp kabob my wife had the tagliatelle with shrimp. Both were perfectly prepared. You just can't get this sort of quality meal on the water in the states for even double the price. We are here for 3 nights and i am probably coming back. read more

This is the only restaurant in our 3 week Spain/Portugal trip in which we were blatantly treated poorly. They were rude, served our dinner without a word and never returned to the table. We went there because it was recommended by Rick Steves, which is usually accurate. Food was all very salty. Do not waist your time or money! Good swordfish but the side vegetables were uninspiring. Just steamed potatoes, broccoli, and carrots as is without any sauce. Come to think of it the swordfish could also use some sauce, at least on the side. Great location and view. read more

My dinner of fresh sole was delicious and that is the only nice thing I have to say. Our host told us this place skated by on location and he is correct. I have never been so soundly and completely ignored by every single staff member in my (not very short) life. read more
