I found DOP when strolling the area, looking for a lunch options. And WOW, it was BRILLIANT! Every single detail was perfection -- incredible food, with complex flavors/textures -- chef Rui Paula is genius! His team bring gorgeous presentation and the service was over the top. It was literally one of the best meal I've had in years....each course suprassed the prevoious -- HIGHLY recommend. And the sommeliers recommendations pared perfectly with my entire meal. Oh, and the location is perfect! ...Glenn Chicago, IL

Okay so first know this is a bit of an experience and you pay for it. We were like $100/head. That includes an entree, 2 starters and a few drinks. They offer a prefix, which looking back may have been the better option for us. The prefix is like $110/person and I think you'd get more bite for the dollar. As a frugal tourist, I'm always looking for value, so take that for what you'd like. Okay so the service is top notch! The staff there are knowledgeable about not just the flavors of the food but also the origins and details about where everything comes from. The team is compartmentalized, i .e. One person was only responsible for water, another for wine, another for liquor another for food etc. The atmosphere is upscale, modern and it's gorgeous inside! The plates, cutlery and drink wear all felt good in the hand and mouth. We started with octopus carpaccio, suggested from fellow travelers at an adjacent table. The octopus is cut very thin and the plate is littered with emulsions and sauces. The quality was there but it just tasted like olives. Didn't taste the protein at all. Then we had tiger prawn with a coconut curry - this was banging! I could have eaten 5 more! It was vibrant, could taste the protein - all good! Entrees: sirloin steak - i dont eat beef but those that do loved it. They described the steak as perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth. They felt the portion was small for the price. Sea bass with squid and clams - it was good, salty (in a fresh way), skimpy on the clams and heavy on the squid. The emulsion wasn't memorable, but the squid ink linguini was tasty. Fish was cooked very well. Brill with leek- this was the star for me, the leeks were prepared like a mashed potato and complimented the sea bass very well. They also included a fish sauce that gave a complexity to the bite i appreciated. Dessert: Custard cup - they didn't indicate this was more of a chocolate tasting and my friend, who ordered it but doesn't like chocolate (i know crazy right) was disappointed, she would have ordered something else if it was listed as it was plated. My husband has the white chocolate raspberry cream brûlée and it was tasty. Tart and sweet with a side of crunchy crumble provided texture. I order d what was listed as Fuji Apple, mint and Kiefer lime. What it actually was was an eclair with the filling, topped with the aforementioned items with a dollop of what I could best describe as frozen apple sauce. It was SO good, unfortunately they didn't list the ingredients appropriately so I could only have a bite. If I had known there was dairy (the eclair filling) I would have orders something else's All-in-all it's a fine dining experience that is worth a treat if you are in Porto. Not an experience to base a visit around but quality for sure.

This is Michelin Star chef Riu Paula's place. 9:30 reservation for outside, but seated inside. Mildly annoying. Then the requisite 3 euros for water, and 3.5 Euros for bread (no ask, but par for the course in Portugal). No wine list after asking, so reset the time after wine list. 40 euro bottle of solid earthy red blend, excellent. Amuse Bouche: Salmon profiterole, excellent, as well as a tuna sashimi bite with pesto. Great start. Ordered the squid, pea, and blood sausage - wow. Great combo, perfect balance. The interplay between the delicate squid ribbon noodles and the gamey blood sausage was perfect. The seabass ceviche was solid with its briny foam. Split an entree of Rack of Lamb with saffron gnocchi - the best dish we had on this journey. Perfect lamb, gnocchi were pockets of delicious fluff inside crisp layer of skin, Demi glace to accompany the lamb out this world. Perfectly roasted Terrine of vegetables. Nice complimentary dessert bites of brittle, chocolate, marshmallow. Kudos, a Michelin sets expectations, Chef Paula delivered! About $150 total, well worth it!!!!! Go try!

Very good quality of food. The dishes were a bit big for us. The staff were friendly and helpful. Their website said they open for dinner at 7.30 pm but they let us in a few minutes earlier.

Everything was perfect. The service was impeccable, the interior was immaculate, the staff perfectly attentive to us and every detail. The food was spectacular in presentation and twice as good in taste. Although not cheap, well worth every penny. We're looking forward to enjoying another one of the restaurants in the family tonight.

I'm shocked this restaurant doesn't have any Michelin stars. From the chic ambiance to the expert soms, this experience is phenomenal and a must try in Porto.

Definitely recommend making a reservation, I found it impressive that the hostess's reservation system was essentially a notebook and pen in this digital age. We did not see much of our waiter, since the restaurant was extremely busy and filled up with diners. Standouts: 1. Razor clams - I'll always get these if I see it on the menu. Cooked in this incredible garlic sauce. 2. Fish and seafood cataplana - delicious, tomato-forward seafood stew; I liked the version that we had the night before more which came with rice and was more filling. But this was basically a never-ending bowl of fish, clams, mussels, and shrimp. Add to that the fact that the restaurant like most in Porto did not have A/C and I emerged feeling like I had been sitting in a sauna. Skipped dessert; I had my eye on the Weeel! froyo truck parked outside. One more nit - the metal chairs are not comfortable at all for sitting a long time in.

As I came in on my own I opted for the one open stool at the counter. The restaurant was busy on a Monday early evening, about 5:30-6:00 pm-ish, with what felt like mostly locals. They have a regular menu, a daily menu printed on the counter top, and they also do Take-Away. Their specialty is definitely their roasted chicken, which one can see cooking on spits at the entrance of the restatruant, conjuring such amazing smells that truly open up the appetite. The staff is sweet and did their best to serve me, with my English/Spanish and no Portugese self. Everything I ate was top-tier without being fancy. Simple and flavorful. I ordered a 1/2 chicken (way too much for me by myself) that came with batatas (french fries- which I didnt love), so I ordered a side of white rice and a salad, as well as what I would call a carafe of wine (it was definitely either two very healthy pours or 3 regular ones). All in all, I paid $15 euros, which I thought was a great value for all that I was given and how tasty everything was.

There were two other groups before us that were sat pretty quickly within 15 minutes or so. During the time we were waiting the hostess was extremely friendly and kept giving us updates on when the table was going to be ready and was making light conversation with us as we waited. When we finally got seated you could tell that the servers were definitely busy trying to get everyone's food and drinks out and so the same hostess came to us and said don't worry I'll take your order for you and told us the things that were the most popular which from my pictures we basically got everything she said LOL. And we were not disappointed with the food that we chose. Now we know why they are considered the house specialties. The flavors of the potato fish cheesy goodness dish I cannot remember the name of it was just so warm and comforting. I was worried about a fishiness coming through when you took different bites but no all the flavor is harmonized well with each other. The tuna salad that they made was extremely fresh and again was pleasantly surprised that though it was fish the spices and bread/butter combo that came with it really didn't give any fishiness. It was also well balanced. Now I will say though those other dishes were amazing our favorite hands down was definitely the grilled octopus. It was so tender and almost melt in your mouth. We were blown away by how well it was cooked. For sure I would say if you are in the area and have a good amount of time please check this spot out and give yourself at least 3 hours to enjoy the meal because again we sat there laughing eating and talking with the people around us because it was that fantastic of a Time for roughly 3 hours.

I was focused on the bifanas that Portugal was known for. I skimmed the chalkboard out the door as we passed by and my hunger instincts were right. A lot of musical instruments and trinkets adorn the walls which made up for an interesting gaze fest as we waited for our food. Lunch rush was ongoing so we had to settle being sat at the bar. That's always a plus as we got to witness the buzzing crew efficiently feed the customers. We got 4 kinds of appetizers that our server recommended. They were all good but we liked the casserole baked dish the best. My wife and I shared a rice plate of the bifanas (spicy pork steak) with fries. For drinks, I got a bottled Compal juice while my wife got her afternoon macchiato. Our bill was a grand total of €17. I even corrected them as our bottle of water wasn't included in the chit. And there were a series of small, minor issues that detracted from the experience. Bread course came warm, with a caramelized onion butter and some spicy bell pepper mayo that was ridiculously divine. This was my favorite course. Got the Cyber Punk tuna sashimi. Presentation was amazing. The tuna itself paired with the ponzu sauce was quite good. There were other elements like trout roe and crispy chicken skin, but the portions were sparse and I felt like the sauce drowned out their contribution a bit. Still a great dish though. Would order again. My main dish was the Vitela (braised veal). While the menu ostensibly presents these items for two to share, they can make half-portions of certain items, of which the Vitela was one. The meat was wonderfully tender. Flavor was had a slight tinge of bitterness and saltiness that didn't quite agree with me. Good dish overall. Service was kind and engaging. Possibly a bit too fussy over me for my American sensibilities, but they were very nice. The server knowledgeable about wine pairings and helped me pick out some for the courses I ordered. A couple of very minor issues here and there, like spilling some wine when pouring the glass, stuff like that. Also, the server shook my hand coming and going. Nice gesture but all I could think of was germs. Bathroom: Single-occupancy, upscale and nice. Toilet seat wouldn't stay up though. All in all, at decent restaurant but like I said, I had a bunch of small complaints that just added up, and it says a lot that my favorite course was the bread course. I would not repeat personally, but I think it might be worth a try for those that really love what's on the menu.
