Top notch! My wife and I arrived 5 minutes after they opened for dinner without a reservation and it's a good thing we did as we were seated. The two parties that walked in right after us were not so lucky and were turned away. You can order off menu as well as from the catch of the day, which are all on display and were more than likely swimming that morning. The hostess, and I imagine also the owner, explained what each fresh catch was and how many of each were available. We chose barracuda from the fresh catch and it was perfection. From the menu we chose limpets (which is a local shellfish cooked in garlic and butter) and the fried mackerel, which was mind-blowingly amazing! This was an amazing experience from the second we walked in. We were welcomed like we had been here 100 times. We started out walking over to see the many choices of fresh fish. It looked (and tasted) like it was caught the same day. We started with the bread and butter along with the limpets (I have never seen these in the US before but my wife and I thought they were delicious). For our entree we split the barracuda that was prepared perfectly - nice char on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. We ended up splitting a dessert that was just as good as good as the rest of the meal. The service could not have been better. As we were leaving, the owner (I assume) made it a point to thank us for coming which I thought was a great gesture. The clams were very small, but there were many. For our mains, we had the tuna and grilled barracuda. Amazing flavors, freshness and tenderness. We came here for dinner on a weekday night as soon as it's opened. I chose to get the fish of the day. The fish was perfectly seasoned and fried, and it came with a generous serving of vegetables including tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber. Our server was fantastic as well. The food was a bit hit-miss for us, but I'm chalking that up to just a difference in preference. Service was TOP NOTCH and we really felt taken care of the entire evening. My family and I came in around 7pm without a reservation, but they seated us in no time. Our waiter was phenomenal and was really a highlight of the visit. We had the grilled limpets, grilled whole squid, and the blood sausage/grilled pineapple. The blood sausage was ... not our favorite. It was really, really crispy on the outside and it just wasn't our thing. The squid, however, was amazing. The limpets were also very good - but my mom and sister liked the one from A Tasca better. Our group of 7 thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience from start to end with Michael leading us through our journey. He did a fabulous job both taking care of us and recommending must eats and drinks. The food as fresh as you can get - they even have a display case of the fish that they just caught with a pricing board with a healthy range of pricing, so there is something for every budget. The menu features some excellent apps (highlights are the clams and the fried sardines, the fresh cheese and the OMG octopus, the grilled limpits which are a local delicacy were tasty but a bit over cooked), mains (highlights were the grilled fresh fish and the chicken kabob that has a sneaky piece of butter on the top that drips down keeping the meat so juicy. To top off our meal they brought over a cart of liquors for an after dinner drink. I had the pineapple flavor, wow. The folks who work there care about their work and most of all, your experience as a customer. Make the time in your schedule to visit them, it will be worth it! We dined late on a Monday night so reservations were not necessary and they were able to handle our larger group easily, but I would imagine that on weekends they would be very busy, so plan accordingly. read more

This restaurant serves authentic Portuguese dishes! We had the octopus salad, so tender. The Lapas was our first time trying this appetizer. My mom knocked over and broke her wine glass and spilled wine on our table and myself. The seasoning consisted of it being served on a plate swimming with olive oil & chopped peppers. But the actual fish wasn't seasoned a bit. It was served with sweet potatoes & yams that were room temperature. The fresh cheese & bread were great. Service: The older man who sat me along with another couple seemed nice. Then he completely ignored me as he brought the couple drinks & 2 apps before acknowledging me. Then he insisted on taking my whole order. I was still working on the cheese & bread when my entree came. I finished my wine half way through the meal & wasn't offered more. It just felt strange...I sat there trying to figure it out.
