The waitstaff was wearing a traditional attired uniform. Since we are from out of town, I want my friend to try the San Antonio version of fajita. I ordered menudo as my usual weekend treat. He loved his food. I didn't. The soup was watered down and lacking texture. There were a lot of hominy. Because we both wanted corn tortillas, there was only one container. During lunch their margaritas are $3.00. We've been there before during lunch, and have ordered them. Yesterday we had a waitress that took it upon herself to get me a small margarita, I just figured the glasses were different. We asked for the bill and the margarita was $7.79? Let's blame the unattentive waitress. My husband asked for green salsa, we saw her having conversations with other workers having the time of her life. When she brought our food, my husband asked her again and we ordered our drinks. With the salsa it was "I thought you wanted it with your food", with the margarita it was "you didn't tell me". We saw the drinks sitting at the bar for a good 5 minutes and she just kept going past them. My husband finally asked another waitress to bring them. When I complained about the bill she said she was going to speak to the manager, didn't look like the manager but ok they said I had to pay the full price and I did. Lesson learned next time make sure you get a waitress that is attentive to you and YOU tell her YOU want the $3.00 margarita. Been there before at lunch asked for a margarita and I get the $3.00 one. My family and I went last night and were very disappointed. The beef ribs and charro beans tasted like leftovers, the guacamole had lettuce added to the bowl to make it look like more, and the beer wasn't even cold. Our waitress was great, but the food was NOT. The restaurant also looked dirty and in need of a good cleaning. Save your hard-earned money. We had the lunch buffet which gave you a lot of options. I like that I could try a few bites of each thing and then go back for my favorite (the carne guisada, for sure). We went as a group of 5 at around 6pm on a Saturday. It was packed. It's obviously a very popular place. Despite that we were seated in under half an hour. Our table was at the end of the room, so we got to walk past all the other tables. There were many with really long tables and what I can only assume were large groups, maybe even families. This seemed promising for the food. I ordered a Horchata to go with my meal, it was very good. I ordered the flautas con pollo for my meal. It came with refried beans and rice. The flauta itself was reasonable but the chicken was unseasoned and bland at best. The rice and beans were ok. The best part of the meal was the chips and salsa. The salsa was very good as were the chips. It's obviously a tourist spot as there was a Mariachi band strolling around. Last time I ate here I had to have been in high school. I came here with some family friends, and initially it was all good! The fiesta style decorations, the murals all brought back memories. We got seated and ordered.. I started off with the queso flameado.. which I was hoping for a better presentation. The entrees however were really tasty, except for the Gordita.. maybe it was left under a heat lamp too long. The server I believe her name was Sommer, didn't have seem to be as attentive as expected. One of the orders was put in wrong. Finally got to try this place tonight! We tried to go a few weeks ago but apparently they close early on weekdays. Our server was wonderful! He was kind and very attentive. The food was decent, nothing wonderful, but also no complaints. My boyfriend and I shared the appetizer sampler as our meal and it was plenty of food for two. The only thing I would say is that the mariachis were way too loud. Don't get me wrong - I love mariachis! But the size of the restaurant and the volume of music was quite overwhelming. One of the Mi Tierra restaurants, Pico de Gallo was a first time experience for my wife and I recently with a group of ten friends. We had great service and were painlessly able to split our bills into six separate ones with no complaints or errors! Ample chips and mild salsa kept coming as we waited for our dinners. I had the Special Mexican Dinner Platter while my wife had the Pollo en Mole. My dish was a capable mix of taco, enchilada, and associated dishes plus guacamole. We were unable to get reservations on the River walk, we asked for suggestions at our hotel and this was one of three restaurants. It was the closest and didn't make us drive through the insane construction and traffic downtown. It turned out that all three of the recommended TexMex restaurants are run by the same family. I loved the food, but full disclosure, I started with a fantastic Margarita. That may shade my analysis. The warm chips and salsa were a fine start. I really liked the salsa, a bit of heat but a lot of flavor! We had sour cream chicken enchiladas for the main course. This of course came with refrieds and rice. Everything was very tasty. For dessert, we ordered sopapillas. We are used to these coming plain, served with honey. The ones delivered to our table were a work of art. They were sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and had whipped cream with strawberries between the sopapillas, and a container of honey in the middle. Options galore, and they were all good. I almost needed to be wheeled out I was so full. Hands down, this is a restaurant we would frequent if we lived in San Antonio. read more

We should have the option to select no stars. We were 3 separate families and they gave us separate tickets but counted it as one just so they can add their own gratuity. I refused and asked them to remove it from my ticket. Some idiot came out at the end of our meal and proceeded to yell at us and lecture us about underage drinking, he never asked for our i.d.'s. He assumed, when you assume you put the ass between U and ME. He did not identify himself but he looked like the dishwasher. The food order was wrong. If I could give 0 stars I would. Servers "Miguel" in particular should not work here anymore because customer service clearly isn't his strongest suit and the food is nasty. Mamacita's restaurant in San Antonio is waaaayyy better in comparison to food, presentation and customer service. Daughter came here after a school field trip. A fellow student gave a piece of their chicken quesadilla to my daughter to try. On the first bite she pulled a brown hair out of her food. They reported it to the server, "Miguel". Miguel accused the kids of putting the hair in the food. WRONG they did not do something so nasty. They began opening the quesadilla in front of the server and they found another hair. Miguel told them that they put it there and that he was not refunding their money. Miguel did NOT return their money. My daughter absolutely hated her food. It did not look appealing at all. When it was time to square up her tab her and another student mentioned that they had military discounts. The server "Miguel" when replied, "OH MY GOSH" and kept telling them it's only 10% difference as if it were a problem that they wanted their discount. If it were an adult he wouldn't have spoken like that to them. I know for sure he wouldn't have treated me or my husband in such a manner. Because had he done so we would have had a misunderstanding right were he stood. You DO NOT treat anyone paying good money to eat this nasty looking food like this. You are a server and are serving because clearly you need the money. This is not how you get that money. A lady walked up to my daughter and said let me see your id because she didn't believe that my daughters government issued id was a real id. I called back this evening and a young girl answered and said that they did not have a manager on duty. I said, "How is this possible that you are in a store with no manager on duty"? She said that they aren't serving anyone. I said we have already been served and need a manager. She says, "Ohhhhhh you want a manager"? I don't have time for games on an establishment that we pay good money to eat at. This is NOT good business and makes you look bad. I will make sure to tell everyone not to waste their money here. When you walk in, you are surrounded by decorations and a lovely wall painting. This is a very casual restaurant offering typical Tex-Mex food. Pros: the service is top notch, they still have free chips and salsa, they will gladly issue separate checks for large parties. Cons: the food is decent, but nothing is particularly memorable. I had the gordita plate, $13, which included rice and charro beans. It was a lot of food and I only ate one of the two gorditas. It was good, but not great. They no longer offer their cheap lunch specials. Your experience may be enhanced by their alcoholic beverages. read more

I can only speak to the bar experience at this point. Went with the other board members of a local nonprofit for drinks after an event. It was extremely crowded as many school were celebrating graduations and this seems like a very popular spot for groups. The decor is amazing! The lights and colors and everything! It feels like a very fun place to spend time with good people. We ordered drinks at the bar and found a table on the patio. The drinks were good! Well balanced flavors. Not particularly strong but still good and relaxing. They have other options for the rim of your margarita. Adds a nice bit of variety! The patio is lovely. I like all the plants. They have cool air circulating and probably have something for warmth on the rare cold day in SA, Tx. Only downside is you can't order appetizers from the bar. If you are planning on going on a weekend evening, it would be good to call and see if they take reservations. Will update later regarding food. read more
