I've been visiting Newaygo since I was young, but this was my first time visiting River Stop Cafe…read more I will without a doubt be back on my next visit! I appreciated that they had a "garden grown" section on their menu with vegetarian options. My burger was delicious and the coleslaw was genuinely the best I've ever had (a wild claim as someone who's lived in the south half their life!). I also ordered a seasonal coffee from their Valentine's menu that was raspberry and white chocolate flavored. I'm not always a fruit flavored coffee person, but River Stop Cafe does it well! Despite it being quite busy during our visit, service was still relatively quick and the ambiance made for an enjoyable wait.

Food was amazing, didn't take a picture, but the Piggy Back burger was delicious. Deep fried pickle wraps were amazing as an appetizer too! Everything was clean and ready for customers.

She explained Covid and mis management contributed to the lack luster reviews, but she is striving to turn this place around. First, there's 2 sides to the restaurant with a kitchen in the middle. We walked in on the log cabin looking side, which has a few tables and not much room. That's the side that had most vehicles parked. Only to learn that the longer side of building, is considered the "bar" side. We walked around, and a much larger dining room, with pool tables, TV screens, and a bar. They are anticipating finally being able to serve beer, wine and full bar before the end of Feb 2024...until then, soda pops and ice tea, coffee and hot tea. Alcohol will be available on both sides. All you can eat Fish Fry Friday, $14.99. 3 large pieces of fish(pollock), choice of coleslaw, apple sauce, cottage cheese or side salad. Also choice of potato: battered dip, bake potato, sweet potato. The fish is Pollock and you can choose: "dry"- crunchy, "wet" which is battered dipped, baked or Cajon. We tried the wet and dry, and liked both! The coleslaw had mandarin oranges and carrots, the side salad is what you'd expect. Waitstaff was hustling, trying to ensure no delays in serving. Definitely need to come back to try their breakfast and other menu items. Sounds like they are going to have entertainment on weekends, maybe Battle of the Bands, and "car shows"....stay tuned...and try them out.

Possibly the Most American meal I've ever eaten…read more A calzone, french fries, donuts, and coca cola. The donuts were done to perfection. The soft, almost flaky crust of the raspberry scones, the chewiness of the cinnamon rolls... The calzone bread was of similar quality. Perfect golden and tasty on the outside, soft chewy & salty on the inside. The loaves of bread on the counter made me wish they were located down the road from me. Some baker in this place really knows their stuff. Awesome place to visit if you're in the White Cloud area.

We ended up trying this place after leaving another local pizza restaurant due to their long wait,…read morebut unfortunately, we probably should have stayed there. We ordered by phone and were told it would be about 45 minutes. We arrived a little early and waited inside, but the order ended up taking well over an hour. When the cashier went back to check, we could overhear that our pizzas had not even been started because of some kind of mix-up. The cashier was friendly, and I am not sure whether they were short-staffed, but the delay was still frustrating. The cheese pizza was bland, and there was an excessive amount of flour or cornmeal on the bottom of the cheese pizza. The meat lovers was definitely the better of the two and had plenty of flavor and toppings. It was a hit with everyone. The restaurant itself has the feel of a typical small-town dive bar or pizza place. It was fairly clean, the lighting was dark, and the restroom was clean. There are not many pizza options in the area, but overall, this experience was mediocre and disappointing. It appears that they also do coffee, pastries, and other baked goods during the day. There is a good amount of seating inside for dining-in. And there is a small parking lot in the back.
