Kobe ready for a walk in yhe snow at Tahoe (Dec 2024)

Dr Patricia Lowe came to our house earlier today to guide, support, and comfort us through the end of a long life for our dog. She was so compassionate, kind. She talked us through each step and gave us private time with or dog. A sad day, yet made easier and smoother with her support. She was excellent. I highly recommend RestfulPaws

Our little Penny was losing her battle to stage V lymphoma and we needed an at-home service for comfort. Dr Helen was gentle, compassionate, understanding and empathetic. And although our hearts are broken for losing our pup to cancer, we felt lucky to have Dr Helen lead us through a painful process.

Saying goodbye to our beloved Labrador, Rudy, was one of the hardest decisions my husband and I have ever had to make. After 12.5 years of unconditional love, we knew that his final moments needed to be peaceful, comfortable, and filled with love. The last year of his life was still full of adventures -- boating, beach days, swimming, snow, and endless affection. We made the decision with heavy hearts after Rudy bravely battled congestive heart failure for a year, managed through medication three times a day. When we started noticing that his quality of life had declined -- he was no longer interested in his food and didn't have the same spark -- we knew it was time. We wanted to find a vet who could help make this difficult experience as gentle as possible, not only for us, but for my parents, who loved him dearly as their grand-dog. From the moment Dr. Ami Hensley arrived, her presence was calm, compassionate, and deeply respectful. She treated Rudy with such gentle care, as if he were her own. She walked us through everything in detail and reassured us that we were making the right decision. His breathing had become labored, and his abdomen was filled with fluid -- confirmation that it truly was time. She gave us all the time we needed and created such a warm, safe space that made this heartbreaking moment feel just a little less heavy. Being able to say goodbye to Rudy at home was absolutely the right decision. He spent his final hours outside by the water, sniffing the air, sunbathing, and lying with me for one last cuddle. He was surrounded by the people who loved him most -- my husband Scott, and my mom and dad -- and that meant the world to us. We will forever be grateful for the kindness, compassion, and dignity Dr. Hensley and Restful Paws brought to Rudy's final moments. Thank you for helping us give him the loving goodbye he deserved. We miss him terribly, and when the time comes to say goodbye to our next dog, there's no question we'll call on Restful Paws again

I can't stress enough how wonderful our experience with Restful Paws has been as we said goodbye to our dog, Kairo. From the moment we called to schedule the procedure, to the actual day the vet, Dr. Helen Chuang came to our home, they have been empathetic and truly sensitive to Kairo and our needs. What a gift to have Restful Paws provide such a peaceful and loving service during an emotional time.

Last Friday Dr. Patricia Lowe helped us assist our sweetest boy Hank transition after several months of heart failure and worsening quality of life. It was so hard to make the decision and we remain heartbroken, but know we did right by him. After Dr. Lowe (who goes by Patricia) met Hank and we shared about his life, she helped us feel much more at ease that we were doing the right thing. We were determined he should continue to live as long as we could provide him with some symptom relief and he was enjoying his life, but equally determined not to let him linger and suffer needlessly. Though Hank's regular vet did wonders for his quality of life, it eventually became clear it was time to let him go. Dr. Lowe was patient, compassionate, gentle, explained everything thoroughly, and allowed us all the time we needed to ask questions and cry into Hank's fur before and after his passing. We highly recommend Dr. Lowe and Restful Paws. They made a heartbreaking, soul-crushing process as easy as at it could have possibly been. Thank you.

The emotions are still raw and weighed with such sadness as we had to say good-bye this morning to our dear Chloe who was 17 years old. While we have been so grateful to our own vet clinic who has cared for for all these years, we knew we wanted to have her final good-bye here at home. We learned about Restful Paws through our vet (West Valley Pet Clinic). We reviewed the website and researched on Yelp. From the moment we spoke with Kayla who answered our call, we felt we found the right service. Kayla was so kind, caring and empathetic as we were facing this emotional step for Chloe. We were assigned to Dr. Vine and this morning she came promptly as scheduled. Like Kayla, Dr. Vine could not have been more kind, caring, and empathetic to Chloe and our needs. She assured us she did not want us to feel rushed in any way. She was so respectful of the time we wanted to be with Chloe during the whole process. We feel it was our last, most important act we could give Chloe... the peaceful transition knowing she was loved until her very last breath. We will always be so grateful.

Ask the Community - Restful Paws

Do you have service on bunny Euthanasia at home? Thanks.

I'm sorry, Restful Paws can provide euthanasia services at home for dogs and cats only. If you contact the support staff at 408-242-2792 or through our website therestfulpaws.net, they can provide referrals.

Is an end of life consultation required before euthanasia services?

No but when they come if you want them to evaluate if they think it's time or not you can ask. They will ask you ahead of time what the issues are and the age and the weight because they need to know how much sedative etc. to use. Just know upfront…

    How much is the cost?

It depends upon the services you need/want. The actual euthanasia is $400. I spent another $195 to have them have my cat cremated and the ashes returned to me in a sealed wooden container. Their prices are on their website (therestfulpaws.com).
