Service, meal and the atmosphere were absolutely wonderful. First time there and can't wait to go back.

We have long been fans of Resto and were very sad when they had to close due to flooding. Therefore, we were delighted when they reopened and heard that they had won an award Now, though, they have changed their menu! Our favorites have either been removed from the menu or altered so as to taste completely different. The salmon was my favorite. It used to be served with goat cheese - now it is served with a spicy chili sauce. The sausage pasta is no longer offered, nor is the sausage , pepperoni pizza. The service was very friendly, and the space was lovely. I just can't see myself eating there again: The jambalaya was the saltiest and tangiest, most tomato-flavoured I've every tasted in my life, among any that I've had in other restaurants or homemade. I know that tomatoes are a part of jambalya, but I had to push the food up the side of the bowl to "drain" it from the tomato sauce, and forced myself to eat it, not wanting food to go to waste; there were literally about 2 tablespoons of sauce at the bottom of the bowl by the end. I would have taken a photo, but didn't want to seem obvious about it. Additionally, the cornbread served with it was much sweeter than what I'm used to--not enough saltiness, no hint of cheese or jalapeno. Just not my style. I think my companions enjoyed their meals; there weren't any comments. Overall, a solid effort and I don't want to put them down, but not for me. read more

Great restaurant. Enjoyed their perfectly cooked blackened scallop appie. Also my wife totally enjoyed her salmon with goat cheese and a balsamic reduction with red onions. I very much enjoyed the garlic pesto pasta. Service with Xander was excellent. Only thing we were disappointed in for an upscale dining experience were the paper napkins. I know. Linens are expensive and this is picky but the food and service topped the overall experience for us. The food quality was exceptional considering it's priced 20-30% less than what you'd be charged in the city. read more

Dined with wife and daughter mid-August 2015. It wasn't very busy, with just a couple of tables in the back room occupied and maybe a couple more out front. Three tables on the front porch were in use though, but I didn't really want to eat on Bedford Highway. First impressions are that not much has changed since it was The Cellar and the menu looked pretty familiar, though that's not a bad thing. Fridays and Saturdays it's all you can eat mussels for $10, which is good value. For mains I had the chicken and prosciutto spaghettini, daughter went for the chicken and pesto pizza and wife, somewhat oddly, the vegetarian option. I can vouch for the pasta and pizza being very tasty and generously sized. Wife reported the veggie dish as fine. As I was driving I missed out on the wine, while the ladies had a glass of Pinot Grigio each. Total bill before tip just over the hundred mark. Service was friendly and prompt and everything was sparkly clean (though the ceiling could STILL do with a complete revamp). Overall, it isn't noticeably different from the old place, but as that was our "go to" place in Bedford, that's just fine by me. read more

Amazing restaurant. Went for lunch with a friend. It is one of her "go to" restaurants. I can see why. I ordered the lunch special pasta dish with side spinach and beet salad. Beyond delicious. Serving size was plenty. Dish of warm pita for the table. My friend ordered mussels with marinara sauce. She let me sample. OMG about the tastiest mussels I have ever had. The very professional and friendly server contributed to the enjoyment of our lunch. They have a room for private functions. Lovely atmosphere. read more

Dropped into Resto tonight for a couple of apps and maybe a glass of wine. OMG what a change, the restaurant looks brand new, obviously did some renovations during the lockdown. Service was perfect, thank you Kate, and apps were excellent. Definitely coming back !!! read more

Came for lunch on a sunny Monday in April and the place was mostly empty with only one taken taken when we arrived, and then maybe four tables taken by the time we left. Friendly service from the hostess, and very chatty waitress for our meal. My friend and I both opted for the daily special of meat lasagna and Caesar salad for $16. The salad was quite good and lasagna I would call average with a relatively strong oregano taste, but still good overall, a fairly large portion that filled us both. Although there was nothing exciting about here, I have zero complaints so would go back anytime someone suggested it. read more

Had the pork with an apple type sauce and the Tomato Pesto soup. The soup was super!! in fact, better than tomato soup ever should be. The pork came with baby potatoes and spinach. the pork although containing more fat than I would have liked had a fabulous taste. The veggies were also very good, crisp as they should be. Came here for lunch during the week - I love the location, right in the middle of bedford and close to my office. I've been here before when it was the Cellar and it seems to resemble much of what it used to be - except when we asked the waitress if the ghost was still around, she laughed and said it left with the Cellar. That was kind of a bummer. Haha. Waitress was super friendly and attentive, however my sausage pasta wasn't anything special. Bland flavour and didn't leave an impression on me. I was also hoping that my vanilla ice cream cookie would be the saving grace. Unfortunately not. Felt like I should've went to Finbars up the road. :( read more

The food was great...everyone at the table liked their meal. The salmon was a tad overdone for my taste leaving it a little dry. The big issue here was the wait, close to an hour for 4 mains on an evening that could only be described as being slow. The waitress was more than apologetic without prompting which leads one to believe the may have been an issue in the kitchen. Now being aware that you have provided a sub-par service I would think maybe a small gesture on bwhald of the house would go a long way in ensuring a return visit, maube comp the drinks? Maube they would have had I complained but that's not in my nature. In a market like HRM the are plenty of good establishments that have just as good food as this one. Another note...great patio but it is in the shade after 630 or so and it got quite chilly up there, if you plan on eating outside bring a sweater :) read more

Went twice and both times regretted it entirely. They look like a higher quality restaurant (and price that way) but cut corners where it counts. Dishes were dirty, water tasted so bad it was undrinkable. My apple spinach salad (sounds nice, right?) Came with mozzarella, which would have been fine except the entire salad was covered in pizza cheese. Like pre-packaged shredded cheese. There was more chese than anything else on my plate. Our pasta was soggy, there was no texture, it was mush, and the sauce was runny and bland to boot. Our waitress was very sweet but poorly trained, didn't know much about the menu or the wine list. Great to see this restaurant re-open. (Formerly The Cellar). Similar feel and quite a few of the same great staff, but the whole place has had a refresh and a decorating change. Menu has some carry overs (pastas and pizzas) but several new choices as well. (But bring back the jambalaya, please!) Particularly welcome is the ability to substitute gluten free products (rice, rice pasta, quinoa) for wheat pasta. Any opening glitches that may have occurred are behind them. Service was attentive and food was on the table promptly (and tasty). Immediately back on our favourites list. read more

Nope. you are not great anymore Resto. not sure what happened, but you fall in the average category now. service is insanely slow. in the time it took me to get two drinks you could have made 3 drinks worth of money from me. not to mention my martini was filled with a mouthful. actually. maybe it was the one I got but I frequent martini places a lot and never received that small of an amount. AND both of my drinks tasted like there was absolutely no alcohol. when the ingredients are rye and vermouth that is what I should be tasting, not water. I wpild check what your bartenders doing. the calamari had the worst batter ever. the bread was good but a smidgen portion for 3 people. and your happy hour specials really aren't that great. no drink special and only bogo 50% on apps. hardly enticing. my pasta was fine. lots of meat but not proportional to the noodles and veggies. My friends said their meals were fine but the portion size left them hungry. I don't know what happened but I'm dissapointed. read more

Recently ate here with three other people for a special occasion. We were greeted in a very friendly and professional manner which made us feel like they were pleased to see us. I've been here when it was the celler and it was horrible service and food was lacking flavour. Now as resto, it's amazing! Omg. Worst Father's Day meal ever. This was the biggest disappointment! I have never ate such over cooked food and blah tasting. I would never recommend resto urban dining. The whole place smelt musty and wet. My whole family was freezing cold. I feel as tho this place should be condemned or shut down I have also never been so sick after. Please do something about you awful food. AndThe service was so slow as anything I swear I smell could do anything better and faster than them. The waitress even spilt water on me multiple times. Resto is a fine, not great, restaurant. The decor is a bit dated but comfortable. There are a lot of tables, but because of the way the space is divided up it doesn't feel too crowded or loud. The menu is quite large and varied, and most people should have no problem finding something appealing. This makes us a good spot for large groups. But the food is just okay. I wouldn't travel far for it and won't choose it, but I also will happily go if someone else wants to. read more

Last night , my classmate and I went to Resto for our reunion , 18 of us . We we're all very happy with our waitresses , and really loved our food . Loved the room we were in , very attentive staff , plus our wine was topped up as we waited a little longer for our food .Really nice gesture on restaurants part ! Dining satisfaction comes from great food and great service. Food really good- great pasta dish but our server experience was ridiculous. As noted in the reviewer comment here from April- server was rude, attitude condescending , talked about how he could do as he liked "because mom owned the place". Dressed like he was going to an outdoor bbq. Heard him speak negatively about a male patron in the other room whom he expressed his dislike to the other female waiter. Very flippant manner- no care of the experience he was offering- seemed like he was the one on "centre stage". Recommend take out to avoid this guy. read more

First let me start by saying I so want this restaurant to succeed. But my comments and many before me, say all the same thing, "it reminds me of the Cellar" Although I had good and not so good meals at the Cellar, I just do not feel duplicating a restaurant, because the staff and the cook were from the previous restaurant makes any sense. I think the effort to move away from the old menu and the same dried out parmesan bread on the table needs more flair. Keep three or 4 signature dishes, or tell customers you can prepare them if they request, but please make the food more interesting and make it with better presentation. I will return but I do not feel like it is a special place to eat, more like I am lazy and do not want to prepare my own dinner. This place is a great escape - excellent food, good atmosphere, great service. We were fans of 'The Cellar' until it began to go backwards (coincided with the manager leaving perhaps?) and then when they returned and opened 'Resto' - just the perfect balance of the old menu's favourites for my family and my staff as well - and new flavours and selections as well! Girlfriend and I just got back from our first dinner at this establishment. Friday night reservations at 6 pm. For a fine dining restaurant and higher prices I expect prompt and impeccable service, this was not the case. I can't say it was poor, just standard. . I enjoy cooking myself and know when things are over or under cooked. My pasta was border line soggy. The flavors worked well with the dish. For such a large pasta menu I was shocked about the texture. I will give this restaurant another shot for we all deserve a second chance. read more

Best pasta I've ever had, which says something since that's normally my go-to when eating out. The atmosphere is very laid back, comfortable and classy. This is a great local spot in Bedford! We can actually walk to it in less than 10 minutes. My wife and I have been going to the Cellar for years before it became Resto. The food is also really good and you can't beat the service. We love the Med Spread (made from artichokes) and all the mains! The owner used to be manager of the Cellar. I'm so happy to see her take over this place. She's very brave to start a restaurant especially in this economy. She's always very friendly and very accommodating. read more

Came here recently for dinner before a Paint Nite event. No complaints about the restaurant itself or the food. I have to say though I was really disappointed in our server. He was rude and condescending. I asked him a question and he looked at me like I was an idiot. Came here for New Year's Eve and had the same guy and the same experience. We gave this place a try recently and it was pretty disappointing. We had never been to the Cellar and so we had no expectations. Admittedly, it has good reviews here, and so we thought it was worth a try. The ambiance was very nice and the service was very good so there was nothing to complain about there. One of us had the BBQ potato skins and the dish was melted to the parchment paper and you couldn't remove the cheese from the paper. When we noted this to our server, she commented that she has noticed the dish has been like that lately. We also had the Penne Primavera and it was as bland as anything I would make at home if I as was in a rush. The sauce tasted like canned tomatoes and there were very few vegetables strips in the sauce; I had four pieces of mushroom. It wasn't a disaster, but there are too many places to spend $100 for dinner to consider returning. read more

Made many trips to The Cellar for some very great dinners. Our first visit to Resto we found many improvements to the décor and were pleased to see our favorite meals still on the menu. Although the quality and taste were every bit as good as The Cellar, which we always enjoyed, the quantities were smaller and the price was higher. Three of us ate here. The service was quite good although not attentive to filling water glasses. The food was very average. A chicken and Prosciutto spaghettini was sub par with little flavor and unremarkable. A whiskey beef pasta did not live up to expectations , beef was tough, lacked flavor and dish was very average. The jambalaya was described as tasty, spicy and filling. The desserts we ordered to share were also unremarkable. A brulee served in a soup sized bowl with approx. 5 cm of brulee was poor value and very odd plating. Brulee tasted fine but not great. The warm ginger cake wasn't and had a rather burnt tasting rum caramel sauce. Paid an additional dollar for the smallest scoop of ice cream. Would not venture back as it really wasn't interesting enough to merit the journey read more

I was very excited to try this restaurant, as it's very close to my office in bedford! I bought lunch (take out) for clients and I and I must say I was embarrassed at the results... I ordered the lunch at 11am to be picked up at 12pm and it wasn't ready until 12:30. I sat there and waited as the waitress gave me indifferent looks. Once I got my order, I checked through everything and she forgot 2 salads, 5 more minutes of waiting. I finally got everything and drove back to the office. I opened the $10 ceasar salad and to my disappointment the container was maybe half full of just lettuce and croutons, really? for $10? I will post a picture of this salad. The pizza was fine but the dough was undercooked. How hard is simple food like pizza and salad to make? I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone read more

My wife and I were given some gift certificates for Christmas to eat at Resto. It turns out that gift has been one of our favorite gifts this year. This Past Saturday we decided to go for supper there. It was a cozy experience with wonderful service. The food was spectacular from start to finish. We started with the Calamari which we both highly recommend. It was tastey and it wasn't covered in too much batter that you sometimes see with this dish. We both had pasta entrees for our meal. I decided to have the maple curry fettuccini. Maple isn't something that I would normally go for. It do not disappoint! very delicious. My wife has the chicken and mushroom fettuccini and it was equally as great. Dessert was also good. We had the chocolate muffin with ice cream. It was a perfect amount for two to share after a hardy meal. I hope this helps anyone that is planning to dine out at Resto in the future.
