I didn't hire them, but they were friendly & gave me a detailed, itemized quote, which I appreciated.

I was a little nervous about the process but Georgia Water & Fire restoration and Cody Freeman were wonderful to work with. Mr. Freeman was knowledgeable, professional, timely, patient and very responsive. I never once felt that we were being pushed into a decision to use a specific product or expand the scope of the project. The office staff was professional and competent. Even after a few issues (incompetence, checks not being issued as promised, etc.) we ran into with our insurance company and delays due to those issues, Mr. Freeman was always there to help. He checked in with me frequently to offer his assistance. I would recommend Georgia Water and Fire Restoration to anyone who needs a general contractor for either an insurance claim or improvements to their property.

The summary: My experience with The Mold Man has been ridiculous. He did less work than his scope…read moreof work states, he will not provide a post work mold test to prove that less work was needed, and I have left multiple messages asking for resolution that he will not respond to. The Mold Man has repeatedly lied, changed his story, not done the work he said would happen, and refuses to discuss possible resolutions since he cannot provide proof the work was done or successful. The details: We used the Mold Man during our house buying process. He sold the job to us (the buyers) and the sellers as mold was in the bathroom Sheetrock and the Sheetrock had to be removed while surface mold was to be treated chemically and scrubbed elsewhere. We show up for our pre closing inspection and the Sheetrock had not been removed and no surfaces anywhere in the house were cleaned at all! He sent an employee out the next day and that employee told us he had never been given the scope of work. He only did the ozone treatment and was told to leave for a different job. After we delayed closing, scheduled contractor work, and movers the employee cleaned the surfaces and took a mold test. It took a month for the warranty information to be provided and a post work Mold Test was to be included in our paperwork. We have not received it. The Mold Man first said he hadn't gotten the results back yet, then said the testing company lost the sample, and now says that a post work mold test isn't part of our agreement and is only used for in-house purposes. If you check with other mold companies like I have they will tell you this is not normal practice in their industry. The Mold Man says that removing the sheet rock did not need to occur after all. He now says it was optional even though it is spelled out on the scope of work and no optional is listed anywhere in our contract. I have provided possible resolutions to him involving new mold tests and price reductions but apparently he will no longer answer my communications. If you need mold remediation done stay away from the Mold Man or you better be present when he is doing the work so you can ensure it is actually done.

Penco Restoration

Our experience with Penco Restoration was a nightmare…read more We were displaced from our home for nearly a year after a water loss, only to deal with repeated construction issues, inconsistent communication, questionable workmanship, and ongoing concerns about the quality of repairs being performed. We repeatedly raised concerns about subfloor materials, missing structural repairs, uneven floors, gaps, and visible workmanship defects -- many in writing. Instead of resolving issues properly the first time, floors had to be pulled back up after installation for attempted corrections. We were told work matched scope and billing, yet what was physically installed often did not align with what we were being told. As a pregnant person with young children, this process was emotionally, physically and financially exhausting. Multiple moves, constant project delays, lack of accountability, and feeling like we had to monitor every step of the work ourselves created an overwhelming amount of stress. Homeowners should document EVERYTHING, independently verify materials/workmanship, and never assume the scope being billed is the work actually being performed. Based on our experience, I would not trust this company with another restoration project If I could leave 0 stars, I absolutely would. I worked directly with Jeff Halus who assured me I'd see that 3/4" t&g subfloor I never did see. After more than 50 email correspondence I was eventually passed off to Sean Liverman and then again to Andrew Howard, all as helpful as the last. After nearly a year of displacement, it is now taking an entirely different contractor to come in and complete the ORIGINAL scope of work that should have been done correctly from the beginning. Penco decided on their own to deviate from the approved scope and install a double-layered subfloor system using materials of their choosing. They installed our brand-new flooring, later ripped it back up, poured self-leveler throughout the home, and then reinstalled the flooring. As if that wasn't enough, Andrew Howard later suggested pulling the floors up AGAIN to add a THIRD layer of subfloor and install the flooring for a THIRD time in an attempt to solve a problem we didn't have prior- floating door jams. Thank you for nothing Penco. That's the level of workmanship and decision-making we experienced with Penco Restoration. This company cost our family nearly a year of stability, repeated displacement, constant stress, and extensive additional corrective work that should never have been necessary in the first place. I would never recommend them to anyone.

HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND! *please read my whole review and…read moreadded comments at the end for my response to their reply* Team was friendly at first and showed me pictures of their work (which was super deceiving), however, after they left I was able to thoroughly inspect the work provided. I had a basic HVAC clean. When i went upstairs, i realized air vents on the ceiling were re-installed WITHOUT SCREWS. This was apparent in several locations. The few that had screws were drilled too far and stripped the surface therefore also making the vents loose. Additionally, work done in the attic with the hvac ducts was improperly reinstalled to the point of the ducts pushing vents out of ceilings and protruding into the room. Because of all of these reasons, and so many vents falling out of my ceiling, i had personally property that was damaged. When I reached out 7 times, they never responded until I disputed it with my bank (funny how that works, right?). Then they wanted to come and fix their issues. They gave me the "landlord special" and didnt address the personal property damaged that was caused due to their negligence. Their response when i showed them the personal property damage was "we didnt do that." I had moved into my house 2 weeks prior and none of the issues were on the detailed inspection report. I shared all of my photos, inspections, etc with my bank and finally am finished with that. All in all, I cannot recommend using LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE more. That is unless you are okay with poor service, property damage, and negligent & arrogant team members. Hope this helps. Attaching 2 out of hundreds of photos. *reply- find it so funny and interesting that you say you cannot reinstall registers without screws and yet that is exactly what occurred. I have photos, inspections reports, and a secondary company coming in to review your work and they were appalled! Your company can claim you did nothing wrong and remediated the situation but you did not. Property damage was done. You can claim it was not your fault, but clearly both our banks agreed it was from the overwhelming amount of proof provided by me. The remediated situation was a temporary fix and the second those registers need to be checked or cleaned again, the issue will represent itself. Do not claim that you guys did nothing wrong and fixed the issue when you very clearly did not. I submitted 25 pages of proof to the bank. I did call you 7 times with no response and also have proof of that. This company would be better off just admitting their mistakes rather than lying. Thanks! If anyone would like clarifying, please reach out to me by replying to this comment and I can provide the 25 pages of proof, photos, etc!*
