Edit: the owner's response feels like I'm being gaslit because their tech rescheduled then failed to communicate that they would not be showing up or would be late to the already rescheduled appointment. I was greeted by the shop owner Lizzie and after talking to her and learning all about the process I booked an appointment to get my armpits sugared. Although I usually shave, I've had waxing done on this area a few times for different vacations and whatnot. I loved learning more about the process of sugaring, how it's generally less allergenic and is more gentle on the skin than waxing due to it only being made of 3 ingredients (sugar, water & lemon.) This type of hair removal will also last about 2 weeks (so great)! I love that Shug is so eco conscious and not only do they need to use less product but they also don't need strips or sticks for the process. Even the gloves they use are biodegradable which is amazing! While the process wasn't pain free, I think if you've ever been waxed before it's a very similar sensation, except I feel that the sensitivity and redness disappeared faster than when I've been waxed in the past. I would highly recommend trying out sugaring before your next vacation or even give it a try if you've been waxing but want to try something a bit more natural and more eco conscious in general. The boutique is so well thought out with every product being curated and hand picked by Lizzie herself. The overall vibe and feeling of this space is just immaculate from the moment you walk into the door, to all the knowledge and care you receive throughout the service all the way to the products you can get to take home with you after the service.
