This review is specifically for their annual Old World Festival they host each fall. My mother has…read morebeen going for years and raves about the food that brings her back to her childhood eats from her grandparents who hailed from Poland and Russia. She brought my father last year who was equally blown away. This year we decided to join and were all impressed as well. The room the event is held in was in the back of the church. It's small but cozy. It's cafeteria style eats with communal tables. It was nice to sit and chat with others. We grabbed platters and started to fill up....blintzes (here they're called blini), Greek salad, noodles with cabbage, cabbage filled puffed pastry, kielbasa, and of course, pierogis. Everything was incredible!! It was the best blinzte I've ever had!! The cabbage stuffed pastry (halupki) was unreal! It's all old school authentic recipes you can tell were made with lots of love. Food was available to-go and some, such as the pierogis and blintze can be purchased frozen for enjoying at a later date. (The timing of the event is perfect for pulling some of these trees out for the upcoming holidays!) Prices were reasonable and it was cash only. It cost us about $20 to feed our family of 4. With each food purchase you are given a raffle ticket to place in front of the basket of your choosing. There was a Red Lobster basket, a wine basket, and a local organization basket, to name a few. The winners are announced two weeks after-to allow congregants to participate too. Don't forget to put your phone number on your ticket. The dessert were impressive and available in slices and entire pies and cakes. We took They also had authentic imported wine and beer $4-$6 a glass. The kids joined in free craft making! They made snowflake ornaments in one of the preschool rooms. It was very cute! We met a few priests when they were inviting folks to take a tour of the church. We were greeted ever so warmly immediately and everyone volunteering remained sweet the whole time. It was a delicious lovely afternoon. We will definitely be returning next year with the fam! The grounds begins the church were lovely as the leaves were changing for autumn. I definitely considered bringing my plates back there and eating! Worth it if you're somewhat nearby. They don't advertise the event much? Just on their personal website, so keep your eyes peeled early October next year.

Although it has been 13 years since I graduated from this school, I hope this review is still…read moresomewhat relevant and helpful. I had transferred to this school froom Hamilton Disston public school. That gives St Josaphat 3 stars right off the bat. The teachers were always helpful and seemed to genuinely care about their students' progress. There was no bullying or fighting I can remember among any students in the 6 years I was there. One of my favorite parts, and what may also be a big selling point for parents considering sending their children here, is the inclusion of the Ukrainian language in the curriculum. I can't speak for other students, but not only did I feel this gave me a solid foundation for learning other languages later on, but I also found it very interesting as a young student. Also included are lessons on Ukrainian history and culture, including the making of traditional Easter eggs and other crafts. Aside from that, the normal curriculum was more than adequate from what I remember, although I can't fairly compare them to public schools due to lack of experience. I can say the teachers were very qualified - they knew what they were talking about (not "book-teaching") and encouraged class participation. The negatives: If you do not want our child to learn Catholic theology, this school is not for you (although the hard-core nuns have gone by now) The first Friday of every month we had mass in the chapel in the basement. It is a popular misconception that the coldest place in the continental United States is International Falls, Minnesota. This distinction belongs to the St Josaphat school chapel. Combine that with sitting on METAL chairs, it was as if they were really trying to make you think of your sins. Towards the end, there seemed to be high teacher turnover. Several teachers would be different year to year. Not sure if this is still the case.

This school is absolutely horrible! My child told me to leave a review and everything said was told…read moreto me by her and her friends. The grading system is inaccurate. Most teachers are disrespectful and unkind. The school water fountains are always either not working, the water is warm, and/or have a dirty filter. For tests, most of the questions are not provided for studying beforehand/on the study guide. The students are always using foul language, hitting each other, talking inappropriately, bullying each other, or genuinely not paying attention in class. The teachers only worry about their pay and not for the students sake of education. The teachers also do not reach out to parents as much as I'd appreciate. There are many bad teachers. For example, Mrs. Roth. She is unkind towards students and always yelling and touching them. She is also extremely disrespectful in general. Mrs. Fox (I think that is her name) yells a lot at her students and is not very respectful. Mrs. Ruppert does not properly educate her students. Mrs. Gale is most of the time rude. The school lunch is very horrible. When they come home from school on half days and bring a to-go lunch, it is overly disgusting. Even though they think they are doing good with the fruit cups/juice and cranberries, the food they make is why child obesity increases (sorry not sorry!!). The school air conditioning/heating is always to sometimes broken or not working well. There are probably more reasons but that's all I was told by my daughter and her friends during a 45 minute car trip.

A friend of mine invited me to a service and I agreed to attend. Everyone went out of their way to make sure I felt welcome and at home. The congregation is what won me over was and I have made strong friendships ever since. If you are looking for a place to worship, look no further than Trinity Church Oxford. This church has a deep history going back over 300 years. As a history buff, I cannot believe this gem is in my backyard! Come for the history, stay for the welcoming parishioners and yummy coffee hour! I also gave an extra star since this church is a short ride away from Center City on the Fox Chase Septa regional rail line

I took my Pomeranian there last Sunday for the annual animal blessing they do in honor of St. Francis of Assisi Day - this year it was on the actual feast day. Last year I took her to the 8AM service - this year we went to the 10AM service, which is somewhat longer since it features the (very good) choir and congregational singing. Please note this is not my regular place of worship. Last year we were the only ones there but the rector Father Robyn still accomodated us and blessed her along with the picture of my Chi mix (they bless pictures if the animal doesn't travel well. This year there were 3 other dogs there and the blessing was done in the graveyard. I found that the clergy & congregation were very welcoming. It's an easy location to get to: just 1 block from the bus stop for routes 24 & 18 and ample parking on Longshore Ave. I like the fact that they printed in their bulletin the texts of she Scriptural lessons read along with the Psalms read that day so you can follow along and refer to them in the future even if you don't have access to a Bible. Also that they pointed out which book is which in the pews (hymnal & Book of Common Prayer), where to find the restrooms and their policy on Communion. The building where they held the coffee social afterwards was named for a past rector who happened to be the brother of the only President hailing from PA (James Buchanan, also the only President to date who was a lifelong bachelor).
