went to ripple for the first time last night and had a great experience- up until we had to deal with sarah. one of my girlfriends has a nut allergy which we specified to our server (not sarah) while ordering but when our food was brought out (by sarah) we realized there was pistachio on one of the items. the rest of us don't have a nut allergy and said we could eat it but sarah made a small fuss about how she couldn't leave it bc then she would have to charge us for two dishes, never mind that it was due to their error. whatever, no big deal. halfway through our visit, our server came to say that his shift was ending but that we'd be taken good care of by sarah. that's when we learned that sarah is the girl who brought out our food and thought eh, maybe the last interaction was a one-off and everything would be fine. sarah then proceeds to try and clear our charcuterie board even though we still had a decent amount of food left and were still picking at it. comes back AGAIN (mind you we all have drinks that are still half full) ten minutes later, takes the board and asks how we'd like to split the check. given that we'd had such a pleasant experience with every other employee we'd interacted with up until then, it was incredibly disappointing to have our visit end on a sour note by sarah trying to push us out the door (i'm not even kidding, i think she was our server for maybe a grand total of 20 minutes) when these are girlfriends i hadn't seen in months. it wasn't even close to closing time, there were still multiple other patrons present, and we weren't being loud or disruptive, so im really not sure why sarah was so anxious to send us on our merry way. all this to say, i highly recommend ripple- just try to avoid getting sat in sarah's section if at all possible. read more

What a cute restaurant for date night or hanging with the girls! Hubs and I stopped by last Sat for dinner, and we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, decor (the exposed brick reminded us of the many NYC restaurants we frequented), and friendly service. For starters, we shared the massive baked brie. Seriously, this could easily feed four without issue. He opted for the shrimp and grits, and I the pierogis. I loved the pierogis and wished to have more of the tomato-esque sauce. His grits were good, but a roux would've been a better pairing vs the 'bama bbq, which came off too mayo-ey for shrimp/grits. The same can be said for the Brussels sprouts which were sadly overcooked and mushy and the Caesar aioli just did not enhance it at all. We both enjoyed our mocktails but sadly were too full to try dessert. Ripple was definitely popping, and every table was full, so be sure to make reservations. My best friend made reservations for my birthday. We've been wanting to try this place for a while and so glad we finally got to try it. You walk in and feel welcomed. It's spacious and the lighting is romantic. I love the decor. Contemporary and simple. Their menu is tapas style. Their drink menu has everything. Especially wine. They all pair well with the meals. I LOVE Ripple! They have two locations... one in O'Bryonville, and one downtown. The one in O'Bryonville is in such a cute area, and the inside is very quaint. Each dish that they serve is crafted with intentionality and such good flavor. I love that for the charcuterie, you get to build it in a way. With the cheese, meat, addition of honeycomb, olives, and so forth. The bread it came with also had shredded cheese on top, which was so yum. I would describe Ripple as a tapas-style restaurant, meaning it is a very good one to go to with a group of people, order a lot, and share everything. The servers were all kind and intentional. First time at this location, and Ripple never disappoints! The service was nice and prompt, and I love how well-versed the staff is on wine. Feel free to leverage them when you can't decide. Also, you can get half pours so you can try different wines. Not only is their wine selection great, their food is great too! My friends couldn't wait to show off Ripple when I visited recently and I can certainly see why. The space is bright and welcoming. They have a variety of seating areas and a lovely bar. We had a reservation which is recommended since they're very popular (for good reason). If you like incredible food and amazing wines, this is the place for you. We opted to try a charcuterie board and everyone was very happy with the results. Then we tried a variety of tapas. The filet was phenomenal and I loved everything else we tried as well. What a beautiful place. We had an awesome time on Saturday evening at the new Ripple location in O'Bryonville. Can't wait to go back. We sat at the bar and the staff were super friendly. Very helpful with suggestions. The decor is beautiful. Loved the old bank vault on the right of the bar. The Mexicali Blues cocktail was refreshing. The wine pour was generous. We ordered the seared ahi tuna and it was fantastic, perfectly seared. The slaw it came with was nice and crunchy. The food we saw coming out of the kitchen was crazy, got to order the baked brie next time. With the prices, this place is a bit of a splurge. But sometimes we all need a treat. We had a happy hour event for our women's group last night, and I cannot recommend Ripple enough! Service: Everyone there was kind, professional, and knowledgeable! Fantastic hospitality! Shout out to Gabriella and Grant! Food: Literally every single dish we ordered was delicious: burrata, baked brie (so good with the honey comb), mediterranean plate, charcuterie, flying pig flat bread, Sicilian flatbread, and this flaky white fish with delicious seasoning. Wine: I had an Albariño, and it was just perfect for the weather, light and crisp. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their wines. Did not expect shrimp nachos to be the highlight of a wine bar, but they were incredible! The black bean puree was a great accompaniment and could be its own side dish. The server was super friendly and accommodating as I waited for my companion who was running late. On Wednesday, they have a great dinner special if you're up for a full meal (2 for $75 with four courses). This was our second time to Ripple in O'Bryanville and it was as wonderful as the first. Sara(no H) was our host for the evening and what a wonderful and knowledgeable individual. We first spoke of the kinds of wines we like and with her descriptions of the flavors we were able to pick a bottle of wine. It was a winner. ATao super Tuscany. My wife and I were looking for a light and small plate dinner. We started with the MOROCCAN CHICKEN MEATBALLS homemade mediterranean tomato sauce feta chickpeas harissa. A very light and flavorful meatball! We then proceeded with the SPANISH FLATBREAD house quark spread beef short rib mozzarella chimichurri poblano and fresno peppers. The peppers and fresh chimichurri blended well together. A little spice with refreshing herbs! Atmosphere was very quaint and the patio is enclosed in the cold months with awesome heaters and open air in the warmer months. I highly recommend stopping by! read more

I was blown away when I first went to Ripple in Covington. This new location was also great but the service wasn't as great as the Covington location. We sat at the bar and the time it took to be greeted was a bit too long (knocked off a star). The food was perfectly delicious like the other location. They have a very small free parking lot which was a super bonus. The ambiance 5/5. Baked Brie 5/5. Shrimp & Grits 5/5 (has a unique spin). Shrimp Nachos 5/5. Wellington Poppers 5/5. Cocktails 6/5, I can't believe a wine bar can deliver on the cocktails like that. American beauty & Red Sagria were both divine. Ripple was the first on my wife and my list of restaurants in our eating Advent Calendar 2023. Each December we try to branch out to broader parts of Cincinnati and try as many unique restaurants as possible. We chose Ripple first on a friend's recommendation and it seemed like a nice way to start to the month. Let me start with the good stuff. The interior is very open, comfortable and inviting. It used to be a bank, and the interior design honors the past with exposed brick walls, old style tile in the entrance, and the bank vault still in place while upgrading the rest to a very warm and nice interior with an open bar area and great lighting and decor. We had a glass of Tempranillo (Spanish) and Malbec (Argentinian) which were very good. They have an enormous list of wines so you will for sure be able to find something that you like. The food menu is very well conceived with gluten free choices and had some unique flare to it. We had the poblano pepper and cauliflower appetizers and they were both delicious. My wife had the scallops with squash puree and they were cooked perfectly and that meal was delicious. There is a pay parking lot adjacent to the restaurant so access was easy. For the not so good. First was our table, which was located at the waiter service counter. You can look at my pictures and see. This was the only table like this at the restaurant, but it was the one we were given so I review accordingly. It has the feeling as if a waiter takes your order, but continues to stand over your table for your whole meal. During the meal, the waiter once leaned over the bar area and slightly over our table to look at something in the room. Later some takeout orders were put next to my wife's head. This can easily be fixed, but for our meal it felt very off-putting. If you go, just ask to not sit at this table and you will be fine. Second, my Salmon was overcooked. I asked for medium rare to medium and it came out almost over-well. Third, our Cauliflower side dish got missed at first and it came out as we were finishing our main course...maybe 15-20 minutes later, with a throw-away "sorry about that". This is an operational issue relative to customer service. If they would have sat us at literally any other table and offered some true offering relative to our Cauliflower desert, this would have been a 4. If the Salmon was prepared properly probably a 4.5-5. read more

Ripple has always been one of my favorite wine bars, and I was so excited to check out their O'Byronville location. We came for a much anticipated date night. Their cocktail list is so enticing that we each tried one first. I tried the "Sugar Magnolia", it had a touch of sweetness without being too much. My husband tried "Fire on the Mountain ", and if you enjoy whiskey it's worth a try. Later in the evening we also enjoyed a half bottle of Pinot noir. I enjoy having this option, so we were each able to have a bit more than a glass. For food, we started with a charcuterie board. They literally have the best charcuterie boards in the city! We also tried the flying pig flatbread. We really enjoyed it, even though it had a bit too much arugula for my taste. The ratatouille was the crown jewel of our meal. I had never tried it in the puff pastry before and it was divine. Our waitress was attentive and answered any questions we had! All around we had a fantastic night. read more
