A few months ago I got a quote from Anderson Propane in addition to the other propane providers in…read moreFredericksburg. I chose them because they had the soonest install date. They pushed me to sign a credit application for service even though the quote I requested was for a cash price of the install of a new 100 gallon propane tank, a new line to my gas grill, and a safety check. I wanted to own the equipment. I had to verbally and via email refuse to sign the credit application because you don't get an 800 credit score like mine if you allow these companies to continually run your credit and run up the hard inquiries on your report. This causes companies to feel uneasy as you may accept every credit application and over extend your ability to pay them back, even if you don't accept any of the credit offers. I ordered an install of a new propane tank. I was asked to come into their office on Halloween to sign the permit paperwork and when I did, it took them about ten minutes to acknowledge my presence waiting in front of their desk for them to get off their phones and call me forward. It then took another five minutes to find my paperwork and gather the notary to sign it. The office staff seemed very inattentive and didn't smile. I didn't feel welcome. I set up my account and signed the permit application for the county. They seemed agitated that I would read the paperwork before I signed. They also had no idea, when I asked questions about the paperwork, of what the answers were. The common answer they gave was "I don't know, this is just what the county wants us to sign." My install was scheduled for November 11th from 12-5pm. On Nov 5th, Anderson Propane called me to let me know that they should be done with their early morning job early, and to ask if I could be available from 8am until 12PM. I said I could and kept my day clear of appointments or any Veterans Day activities. The 11th came and I sat around waiting for Anderson Propane to show up and install my tank. By noon I figured that the morning job had issues and ran over, so I continued to wait well into my original appointment time. At 2:53PM I called Anderson Propane and asked where the install team was. The 4 minute call was mostly silent as they tried to figure out what was going on. The lady on the phone told me that she would need to call someone and call me back. At 3:29PM, I was called back and informed that my permit application had not come back from the county yet and they should have called me to let me know that they needed to reschedule that morning. After wasting a whole day, Veterans Day (and I'm a veteran) all they could do to compensate me for my wasted time and their admitted error, was to reschedule the install. They acted as if this was the best they could do to fix their error. I asked her if that is the level of professionalism that I can expect from their company and she told me no. She asked if I wanted to reschedule the install, but believing that the first impression of the office staff and the error in not informing me to not wait around all day was an accurate representation of the company, I decided to not move forward with the install unless they can compensate me for their "No Show". Seeing as these companies charge for No Shows, I felt I should be compensated in some way for seven hours of my wasted time and plans withheld for a company that failed to let me know that the permit hasn't gone through. Conclusion? This company is far more interested in customers that they can run credit on and have credit fees charged on their contracted / rented tanks customer accounts as that provides them more revenue. And it shows! They could care less for customers paying cash for an install of a new tank and lines. Because that customer has no contractual obligation to keep using their gas delivery service at locked-in higher prices. If they can't lock you into a contact, they don't care about you. Once they have you under contract, you're obligated to them and they don't have any incentive to care about you either. Look elsewhere for service!

However, I did find some very useful information in your past correspondence that makes your case even stronger:  Your Previous Dispute Attempts You actually emailed AmeriGas's customer care about this same issue back in April and May of 2025. At that time, you told them:  * You have a 125-gallon tank connected only to your gas fireplace logs.  * They told you that to avoid the rental fee, you were required to purchase 240 gallons per year, which is impossible given your tank size and limited usage.  * You received a charge of $172.71 for tank rental and requested its removal then as well.  Strategic Updates to the Letter I've updated the draft to include these specific details. Referencing your past attempt to resolve this makes it clear you aren't just ignoring the bill, but are actively disputing an "unreasonable" requirement.  April 8, 2026 AmeriGas PO Box 45264 Westlake, OH 44145 RE: Formal Billing Dispute - Account No. 200088374 To Customer Service Department, I am writing to formally dispute the "Equipment Rent" charges and the $36.00 late fee on my account (Notice No. Reminder-1).  As a customer of 26 years, I have never signed a contract with AmeriGas authorizing these fees. I first disputed this charge in April 2025, explaining that it is physically impossible for me to meet your "minimum usage" requirement of 240 gallons per year. My 125-gallon tank is used exclusively for gas logs, consuming only about 60 gallons per season.  It is unreasonable to charge a rental fee based on a usage quota that my equipment cannot accommodate. My previous supplier provided this tank without a rental fee for decades, and I have not consented to a change in those terms. I request that you: 1. Remove the $172.71 tank rental charge and all subsequent late fees.  2. Grant a permanent low-usage waiver based on my 26-year history and the specific limitations of my equipment. 3. Provide a copy of any agreement you claim I signed that authorizes these specific rental charges. I look forward to resolving this matter in writing within 30 days. Sincerely,

It seems like the company went through a merger or buyout, and since then the service has gone downhill. I called multiple times about a propane delivery that was promised but never came. The new agents who answer the phone seem so used to complaints that they just say whatever they need to get you off the phone. This is the first time in more than 10 years that I've ever run out of propane, and it happened because of the company's new management structure or whatever changes have been made. Over the course of 2 weeks, I spoke with 4 different agents and asked each of them to have a manager or supervisor call me back. I never received a single call. Do yourself a favor and find a different propane provider.

I cancelled my account and told them to come get their tank. It's been I month since I told them that and the tank is still here. I have had this tank since 2003. I should own it by now! Annual rental began at $75 plus tax which made it $84.80. I called in 2023 and said that after 20 years, I should own the tank. They reduced the rent to $20 plus tax. All was fine until I received the bill for 2026 this is for $190 plus tax for a total of $201.40. This is insanity.

My husband, AJ, first called on 1/16 when our tank was below 30% and also notified you that the monitoring system was not working. He called again on 1/20 and was told we were scheduled for delivery on Thursday the 22nd since you would be in our area. No delivery occurred. I then called on 1/23 to report that we were between 20-25% with snow and ice approaching, yet we still did not receive fuel by 1/29. On Monday 2/2 after being given the runaround/ told someone would call me back @ 8:20 & 12:40 when I attempted to get an answer. Then I called back after 4p as our tank had dropped to 10% or less. I spoke with Claudia, who stated we were scheduled for delivery on 2/5. After 4:00 PM today (2/5), I called again to confirm since no truck had arrived and was told drivers would be working until 8-9 PM and that we would receive fuel tonight. We are now (8:45p) below 5% (essentially empty). AJ has contacted your emergency line and was told someone should arrive within two hours. Thankfully driver showed up at 10p to fill tank and how ironic we were told he was around our area all day and we weren't on his ticket. Adding to our frustration, Tiger Fuel has had no problem drafting our account monthly, yet we cannot get the basic service we are paying for. This situation is unacceptable and has placed our household at risk during winter conditions. We relied on repeated assurances from your company that delivery was scheduled and coming. Please provide: 1. Why the runaround btwn different offices when customers call. 2. An explanation for the repeated missed deliveries and lack of communication. 3. Information on how this failure will be addressed moving forward to prevent recurrence. Sincerely, Mary & AJ Florian

Poor management when questioned. I had an issue about whether 800 gallons was actually delivered to my home. I have a 1,000 gallon propane tank -- when I got to about 150 to 175 gallons, I called for a refill. When I received the refill, they refilled to 800 gallons (which is typical -- 80% total). They gave me a bill for exactly 800 gallons delivered. I questioned the invoice because I knew I called in when there was no less than 150 gallons, which means if I had 150 and they put 800 in that I'd have 950 total. They said they put in 800 and my tank must have been completely at zero and that my gauge must be wrong. I check my gauge every week and know it was not at zero or even close to it. My email was initially ignored, then it was clearly misread when it was responded to and not sent to management. I had to call to get a manager (or I think they connected me to a dispatcher), who tried to placate me to get me off the phone with the understanding he would follow up in a couple of ways, which he never did. When I finally followed up a few weeks later by email, the assistant contacted the the manager (or dispatcher) who told her to pass along that the driver who made the delivery was contacted and said that there were in fact 800 gallons delivered and everything seemed ok at the time of delivery. My emails to Valley Energy and my discussions were clear in that I was not seeking not to pay for gas I did not receive. I was interested in finding out if my gauge was wrong to have it fixed, or to learn if the gas truck that did deliver to my home reported the wrong amount as being delivered (they track all amounts all day) -- I indicated perhaps at the end of the day there may have been an extra 200 gallons on the truck. In any event, they handled it wrong and they lost a customer. I was with them four years and will be no longer. This experience leaves me with a taste of mismanagement, possible dishonesty and siphoned gas in my mouth. I'm not suggesting Valley Energy actually billed for gas they didn't provide to me, but the way they handled this incident, it gives me great pause to consider whether it is just bad customer service. I've lost my faith in them.
