Sometimes things go wrong. What one does in response determines ones character. In this case, what went wrong was my house and my greenhouse ran out of propane simultaneously one evening after a significant snowfall. The details of how this happened are not particularly interesting: suffice it to say that when all the holes line up, things can go wrong and they did. The important part of this story is what happened afterwards: on the night in question, my wife called me at work to say that the heater in our greenhouse had gone out. Fifteen minutes later she called to say that our stove wouldn't light (we use propane for our heat, hot water, and range). "I think we're out of propane," she said. My reply: "that's ridiculous, we've never run out of propane, we get automatic deliveries" (note to self- never tell swmbo that she is being "ridiculous.") She was , of course, correct and we were, literally, out of gas. Oh, did I mention that temperatures were forecast to be in the teens and that we heat with propane? So here is where the rubber meets the road: I called the Tiger Fuel on-call number and the on-call dispatcher had a delivery to my house within the hour. My greenhouse, on the other hand, was inaccessible due to the snow and its' contents were a total loss. Big sadness here. However, the next day I received a call from Mike H., the local Tiger Fuel manager. His approach to customer service and his service recovery efforts won the day. The first thing he did was apologize, followed immediately by accepting responsibility for what went wrong. He went on to work with me to make amends for the incident and "make things right." His efforts proved both his and his company's character. He provided customer service and service recovery which were above reproach. Kudos to him and the company he represents. My husband and I wanted to make sure we let you know how great our experience was with your company yesterday, and specifically with your technician John Collier. Mr. Collier was a hard worker. He arrived around 10:00 as promised and worked tirelessly to complete the install for the gaslines for our new generator and for our gas logs. It was a miserable day: cold and rainy!! Yet he was all smiles and so positive. When he came into our house to make sure the connection to the gas logs was issue free, he put little covers over his shoes. However, when he looked through the door and saw my ivory colored rugs, he took his shoes off entirely. He disassembled the gas logs and made sure there was no air in the line. He also scraped clean the spots for the flames to come out. He then reassembled everything. I seriously do not think my husband would have been able to trouble shoot everything that Mr. Collier had to do. Mr. Collier was very professional and represents your company well. When I was thinking about adding a gas stove and fireplace in my house, I called a few different suppliers and chose Tiger Fuel in the end. I had done some research before deciding on a supplier. I realized that "propane is propane" but Tiger Fuel gave me more. From the time I made my initial call, though the service work and when I got my tank filled, they treated me like we were old friends. Since I've been doing business with Tiger, I can't think of anything bad to say. I've called with questions about my account and I'm treated with respect, not just another call. I like the fact they are owned and operated locally and when I do call, I don't go to some call center out of state. I also learned that they own and operate a handful of gas stations in the area that I already frequented on a regular basis. Not to mention, they have some good food at a few of the stations!!! I recently had a ProCom wall mounted heater installed. Ryan Cambell went out of his way to find me a unit since all his suppliers were out due to COVID. I found him to be very knowledgeable and personable. He stayed in touch and was very timely I working together to find a date that would work for me. I had asked Ryan to send me serviceman that he recommended who was solid and responsible in his work. Matt came out and did a fantastic job and had a great attitude. He went the whole 9 yards in ensuring everything was spot on and with very good workmanship and care. I am 64 years old and have experienced a great deal of mediocrity in my day. It was quite refreshing to work with a company that actually cares and backs it up with their workmanship and personal communication. I dealt with Tiger Fuel when I lived in West Virginia and Tiger Fuel was located in Moorefield, WV. I am not sure of the connection between them and Tiger Fuel I presently use out of Orange, VA but they are similar as far as their excellent customer service. I am thankful that I can rely on them in Virginia in the same way. I started in Virginia using Southern State but switched when I found out that Tiger Fuel was in my area. I had no problems with Southern States but they were higher on their price per gallon. A big Thank You to all those at Tiger Fuel for their excellent service and support. I dont know where to start! I am a homeowner with an oil & propane system. I called several places and TIger was the first company that had a real person answer the phone. She kindly and immediately directed me to Sarah who was very patient, supportive, informative and proficient. It is a complicated situation because of the tanks. I had a gas leak and was working with another gas company. They red flagged my fireplace and said they would be back, but kept missing scheduled appointments to fix it. After a month and 1/2 with no resolution from the other company, I decided to called Tiger Fuel and had the fortunate opportunity to speak with Fred Brown. He came out and explained things to me and relieved my anxieties about what we needed to do to get everything set up properly. Fred was so patient and informative. I have been a Tiger Fuel customer since moving to Charlottesville about 9 years ago and they have always provided excellent customer service; and this morning was no exception! I called TIGER last Thursday to schedule a gas line final hookup for our new gas fireplace and they were able to fit me in for first thing Monday morning. Mr. Josh Thornhill arrive just before 8:00 am, surveyed the assignment, and went right to work. He was very polite and personable. He also attached the gas line for the fireplace to the framing studs so they would be safely secured and out of the way. Tiger Fuel has been providing fuel to my father-in-laws house in Charlottesville since 1967. That's a long time. Regardless of the weather they have always been reliable, punctual, and courteous. That includes the staff in the office and the guys who actually deliver the fuel oil and propane. The delivery guys were especially good in dealing with our dogs who love to bark at trucks and with my father in law who only recently died at 95. They always made sure the deliveries done regardless of the weather. It's a simple business. I just had a tank installed to service a propane fireplace, and Andy from Tiger was terrific from start to finish. Arrived in the arranged time-frame, courteously explained what he needed to do, and finished the job quickly. He started up the fireplace and gave me some hints on usage, and even provided some additional tips for other issues I have with this new property. Also, the dispatcher was wonderful in squeezing this appointment in at a convenient moment when the holidays threatened to leave me without service for a couple of weeks. l just had my propane tank filled up today by Charles. He has been coming to my house for as long as I can remember. He is professional and I enjoy our conversations as he fills my 500 gallon tank. I have never run out of propane and that is a good thing especially since I heat my house with it and have a propane hot water heater. Charles is the best and I would give a higher rating if I could. When we fired up the gas logs for the first time in the season,some guests began to detect the odor of gas...or was it gas? We weren't sure. Greg S. came in less than an hour and discovered that sure enough, when the fireplace is ignited, the gas valve leaks. He's ordering the part and will fix it. Oh my goodness! This company is amazing! I was an idiot to stay with Amerigas as long as I did. First of all, Amerigas is charging double what everyone else is charging. But not only is the price with Tiger MUCH better, but the customer service is top notch. Everyone I have encountered with this company (including Chris A.) has been so friendly. Despite the fact that they weren't scheduled to be in our area for 4 days, they dispatched Pearce F within 2 hours.
