I like that she is a plastic surgeon and not just a PA or nurse who has gone to some training sessions to learn to inject fillers. Dr. Ashley is very direct and will tell you what you need (which is not always what you thought you wanted). I trust her expertise and have not been disappointed with the results. Yes, there is some pain but it's mostly just tiny pinches and it only lasts a few seconds. I try to schedule my appointments either late in the day or on my day off in case there is any swelling. You can return to work the following day without your coworkers noticing you had something done (they just think you look refreshed). After completing six sessions, I saw little to no noticeable reduction in hair growth. Throughout the process, it became increasingly apparent that treating women with my skin tone and hair type was not something this business had significant experience with. Despite following the recommended treatment plan and attending multiple appointments, I did not receive the results I was promised. Because I was not seeing any improvement, I canceled my final two appointments. When I called, the receptionist apologized and stated that a manager would contact me. The manager did reach out, apologized for my experience, and told me she would speak with the laser technician to review my progress and treatment history. Unfortunately, after that conversation, I never heard back. There was no follow-up, no explanation, no concern for the lack of results, and no effort to address my experience. What disappointed me most was not only the lack of results, but the lack of customer care. Once my concerns were raised, communication completely stopped. It left me feeling as though the focus was on collecting payments rather than ensuring clients achieve successful outcomes. Based on my personal experience, I would encourage women of color, particularly African-American women with coarse hair, to thoroughly research a provider's experience treating diverse skin tones and hair types before committing to a treatment package. I interviewed another top plastic surgeon in the area who didn't give me any of the innovative ideas that Dr. Capizzi recommended for the best outcome possible. These products include the Sientra / 'gummy bear' implants to replace my old silicone ones. These Sientra implants are the safest implants available on the market, and they have a 20-year and up to a lifetime guarantee. They have the least complications of any implant on the market, including for ruptures or capasculsr contraction and other complications. These Sientra implants have a more cohesive gel that does not leak like other typical implants (imagine cutting a gummy bear in half and you have two solid pieces that are still intact- this is what happens with this particular type of gel implant). Dr. Capizzi also inserted a dissolvable mesh support at the bottom of my breast to make sure that the stays in place and also to stops drooping due to gravity / aging, which hopefully, means that this will be my last surgery. I am a 54 years old and this will be my third implant revision and, hopefully, the last one! Although my breasts are still sore and tender and the scars are healing, I already feel much better at day 6 then I felt with the other two surgeries at 2 weeks! I told Dr. Capizzi that he had 'carte blanche' to do whatever was necessary on the operating table to achieve the best possible outcome, and I actually went down a size because the larger implants that were similar in size to what I had previously did not give him the desired results that he wanted- and that he knew that I wanted. I am 100 percent confident that my breasts are going to be absolutely gorgeous once the swelling goes down and the scars heal, I can already tell they're going to be beautiful, fully supported, and nice and perky. The other thing that I asked him to do when doing the implant switch out and breast lift, was I wanted my nipples to be smaller and even, which has bugged me my entire life and has also now been corrected and I am absolutely thrilled about! I wanted a more full implant at the top with a little bit better cleavage so I chose the 'Bombshell' implant, which is the latest and greatest gummy bear implant available. It's a little fuller than the other available gummy bear implants, but they still feel nice and soft. Dr. Capizzi and his team will go over all of your options with you at your initial visit, with no pressure to go one way or the other, He'll show you pictures on a large screen of different women with various different types of implants, so you'll be able to see not only his past work but make notes of which ones you like and the look that you want to achieve along with him also taking copious notes on what your personal objectives are. His entire team is truly amazing- very professional and very caring- from Amy who will help you with pricing and scheduling, to Megan, who was my nurse, Plus the wonderful young woman that did my first post operative lymphatic drainage ultrasound, which was at day three (at my first post operative appointment, where they check to make sure everything is looking good and is healing properly). At that appointment, they also take off the Steri strips and fit you with a post-surgical bra, which, I believe, was designed by Dr. Capizzi himself+ it's so much more supportive than the old, traditional white cotton bras I was sent home before. Dr. Capizzi specializes in breast surgery, even very difficult cases like mine, I have very dense, fibro cystic breasts and I have very thin skin, on top of that- but he took it all in stride and wasn't phased by any of that in the least, I am 100% positive that he was the absolute best option as compared to any other surgeon. In fact, I have three friends that are currently exploring breast surgery, and I will be definitely referring them to Dr. Capizzi! Last but not least, Dr. Capizzi was recommended to me not only by multiple friends of mine as their Doctor, but he was also recommended to him by another plastic surgeon when asking for his recommendation for the best Surgeon for breasts. This retired plastic Surgeon from Charlotte said 'if you need your breast done, you need to talk to Dr. Capizzi, he is the absolute best at what he does and if this was for my wife or daughter, that's definitely where Iwould take them'. Another note is that the other plastic surgeon that I talked to, who was also very highly venerated and with over 40 years of experience, did not offer up any of the innovative ideas or products like the gummy bear implants or the dissolvable mesh to support the implant, He also did not offer lymphatic drainage ultrasounds or any other things that Dr. Capizzi automatically includes with his surgeries to flatten out the scars and to give his patients the best results. I went into this surgery trusting Dr. Capizzi with something extremely personal and important to me. After having breast implants for approximately 24 years, my breasts were symmetrical and, in my opinion, looked beautiful. I have plenty of photographs showing exactly how even they were before this surgery. The ONLY reason I needed a revision was because one of my implants developed a leak after 24 years. I was very clear with Dr. Capizzi about what I wanted. I wanted my previous result replicated as closely as possible. I specifically discussed the implant size I had and expected the replacement to be the same size. I understood from what was discussed with him that this would essentially be a carbon copy of what I had before. Instead, I woke up to a result that was completely different from what I expected. I was given implants that were MORE THAN 120 CC SMALLER than what I had previously. And somehow, on top of that, I ended up with one breast sitting HIGH and the other sitting LOW. Let that sink in. I went into surgery with breasts that had been even for 24 YEARS, and I came out of a revision with obvious asymmetry. I cannot adequately describe how upsetting, frustrating, and heartbreaking this has been. This isn't simply a haircut that grows back or a cosmetic change that you can easily ignore. This is my body. I trusted a surgeon to take something that was working well for me and carefully restore it after one implant ruptured. Instead, I am now dealing with a result that I never wanted and now require another surgery to correct. I immediately sought another medical opinion because I knew something was wrong. I was told that there were already issues with the positioning and that my breasts were not simply going to "even themselves out." Now I am left trying to figure out how to correct something that I never should have had to correct in the first place. What has been almost as upsetting as the surgical result is how my concerns were handled afterward. When I questioned the outcome and pointed out the obvious asymmetry, I did not feel heard, respected, or taken seriously. My experience with Dr. Capizzi's bedside manner was extremely disappointing. I felt as though questioning his work was somehow an inconvenience rather than a legitimate concern from a patient who had trusted him with her body. His office was no better. When we reached out for help, we essentially received the message that there was nothing they could do for us. No meaningful solution. No sense that anyone was taking responsibility for helping me figure out what happened or what could be done next. I am incredibly disappointed because I trusted this doctor. I trusted his promises. I trusted his judgment. I trusted his skill. And I trusted that he would care about the result as much as I did. I now regret that decision. I am fortunate enough that I will have the ability to seek another surgeon and pay for another procedure to try to correct this. But I realize that many women do not have that option. That is one of the biggest reasons I am writing this review. I want women considering Dr. Capizzi to understand that they should do their homework, get second and even third opinions, document exactly what they currently have, and be extremely specific about what they expect before agreeing to revision surgery in writing. For me, this was supposed to be a straightforward revision of an implant that had lasted 24 years. Instead, I am now dealing with breasts that are visibly uneven and another surgery to try to fix the result. I would NEVER recommend Dr. Capizzi based on my personal experience. The hardest part is knowing that I went into this surgery with a result I was happy with, and I trusted someone to simply restore what I already had. No refund for the $750+ spent on a syringe, just dissolving of the overfilled lips. This was the first time I ever had to get filler dissolved and I feel like it's negatively affected the skin around my lips, but she pushed those concerns to the side. I just can't believe I wasn't offered a refund or anything when I paid for a service gone horribly wrong that affected my appearance this badly. I've spent thousands of dollars at OVME and have been a longtime member, but I reconsidered all that given this experience and lack of resolution/refund.
