Wonderful. Chairs very comfortable with a soothing environment. Results were fantastic. I was pregnant within about 6 months.

When you are away from home there are a lot of things you miss. For me, one of them is my acupuncturist so I was happy to find Revive via the POCA co-op website. Kim was friendly, supportive and professional. The space is clean and cozy and she has everything you need to relax during your treatment (eye masks, blankets, comfy chairs...). This is a wonderful community acupuncture clinic. Kim is very friendly, professional, and supportive. As a new client, she'll have you provide your health history and your goals. In follow-up visits, she'll see how you're feeling and if there's anything new that needs to be addressed. Her clinic is very comfortable. There are about 10 reclining chairs in a small room with lots of natural light and a large air purifier. With people constantly coming and going, there are always enough chairs available. Kim does not rush you; you can pretty much stay as long as you want, up until closing. If you want to block out some noise, there are complimentary ear buds at the front desk. I believe she also has some sleeping masks as well. If you're scared of needles, don't be; Kim is very gentle with the insertion of the needles, and you can barely tell she's putting them in. You cannot feel them at all once they're inserted. During the treatment, I always feel very tranquil, and sometimes doze off for a little bit. I always leave feeling refreshed, and my overall health appears to be improving in the long-term. The $20 flat fee is very affordable and fair. No insurance is accepted since the fee is lower than most co-pays. Kim truly cares about the well-being of her clients, while providing an affordable rate that allows them to continue coming back as long as the want or need to. I thought I would try this place since it's closer to home. I wasn't impressed. The chairs are uncomfortable. I felt every needle go in and for the first time ever it was painful. Then someone came in stinking of smoke which made it very hard to breathe. I immediately told her and I had to leave my treatment early. Then I was even more shocked for a person running a type of alternative medicine would push hard for me to use the conventional medicine doctors are recommending for my condition. I didn't ask for her opinion on it nor did she stop pressing to give her opinion when I told her my mind was already made up. She was pushy and I don't appreciate it at all. I'm into natural healing and I'm sure my 2 degrees in the medical field are equal or better than her medical opinion she kept trying to imply was good since she's in the medical field. When people come to you for stress relief they shouldn't leave more stressed out!!!!! I'll travel the extra distance to Edgewater Acupuncture. This is what happens when you don't stick to who you know. I can see now it's definitely worth the drive. I will NEVER return here again!!! FYI I didn't come here for a cure for my illness you idiot. I came for stress relief. So once again it's clear that you don't listen to your clients and what we say. Stress isn't good for anyone's health. No one in their right mind would think acupuncture is the cure for anything. So just because you had stupid friends that did stupid things doesn't mean everyone that walks in your clinic is an idiot like them. I've tried acupuncture before and have never found it particularly effective. But I've been having chronic pain and when I heard about community acupuncture ($15-35 instead of $60-100) I figured it couldn't hurt (no pun intended!) Kim is good at placing needles, sometimes they hurt but I think that's a phsyical thing rather than her technique. At your first appointment she asks a few questions and then starts you off. The one drawback, in my opinion, is that there is no explanation of what she's doing, and on follow up visits, unless you speak up with new/different issues she just places needles the same place as before. She explain, for example, whether you need to relax or how long you should lay there, or where she's putting the needles. I'm the kind of person who asks lots of questions but when I do I don't get good explanations. OK, two drawbacks, it's not particularly transit-accessible. I love the model of community acupuncture and have no trouble relaxing or zoning out for 1-1.5 hrs (really!), as long as I want. And the price can't be beat. read more

Kim is a fabulous acupuncturist. She's down to earth and friendly, and was very comforting to someone like me who's new to acupuncture (and has a dislike of needles), explaining everything to me before starting the actual treatment. I went to see her for several health reasons, and because they were issues of varying kinds, she focused my first treatment on pain relief rather than taking on the whole kit and caboodle to prevent my body from going into a healing crisis. After this one session, I experienced more range of motion and less pain in my shoulder, as well as little-to-no pain in my wrist, where I'd been having symptoms of carpal tunnel. I also slept like a baby that night. Revive's communal setting has a cozy feel, and I especially like that I can stay in the reclining chair for as long as my body feels is necessary. And the reasonable price makes having regular sessions quite affordable. BTW, it was another acupuncturist who recommended Kim/Revive Acupuncture to me, and someone on Google+ mentioned that her acupuncturist recommends Kim, too, so here are two unsolicited references from her professional peers. read more

Kim is the only acupuncturist I've been to and I've only been once. I have knee pain from an old injury and massage wasn't giving me as much relief as it used to. When Kim was done with me, I stood up and walked like a normal person. I didn't have to wait a few moments to get my knees in gear. I didn't wobble walk. I was truly shocked. Also, I had the best nap ever in this place. It was only 40 minutes or so but it felt like a full night's sleep. I was relaxed, energetic and productive the next few days. I didn't read the instructions she gave me for a few days. If I had, I wouldn't have had as much coffee or stayed up till 4 am the next two days. My knees felt great until I ate 2 protein bars for breakfast a few days later. I could feel the pain return with every bite so I'll go back soon and steer clear of protein bars from now on. Revive is a good distance from my home and work so I won't be going as often as I'd like but I'll definitely drop in whenever I'm within a 10 mile radius. read more

Love this place! Kim is great, and obviously knows what she's doing. I haven't been going for as long as others have, but I've gone for a couple of months now, and I definitely plan to keep coming back. My fibromyalgia and chronic pain issues are related to blood flow, and acupuncture helps with that. Very relaxing and restorative. My only criticism is that I wish they had hours that worked better for my busy schedule, but I understand why they don't. Highly, highly recommend if you can fit it in! I came to Revive based on a recommendation from Little Bird. I have had a shoulder problem for about a year and wanted to try acupuncture. I have to say I was very impressed. I had no idea what to expect. Kim was absolutely wonderful. She listened attentively while I explained my issues & went over the process with me along with what to expect. The one issue I had was that the room was freezing - like couldn't feel my fingertips cold. Kim explained she had been away & turned off the heat. The Midwesterner in me thought - oh - bad idea. It takes too long to reheat a building & costs a fortune to do so. In addition, I couldn't relax so I am unsure what I got out of it. Pros: attentive, chairs are comfy, prices allow multiple visits per week if necessary, lots of soft lighting & natural light flowing in, blankets are soft Cons: location - not metro accessible or walkable, freezing in building I will definitely be back to try it again & will update my post. Kim is so friendly, and it is wonderful to be able to receive treatment for as long as the body deems necessary. This is a community center with affordable treatments. I do not mind other people zooming out around me. The athmosphere is very quiet and everyone seem to respect others "me-time". The place is simple and you do not get more than you need. I started going to Revive Community Acupuncture in February to deal with terrible back pain. Long story short, I have a ruptured disk, and acupuncture is part of my pain management program. Kim listens intently during the client intake process, and approaches her task with great thoughtfulness and care. She provides a sliding fee for her services, from $15 to $35, and is able to process phone and card transactions. I must say that for someone who is on a very tight budget with little to no funds for frivolous spending, this has been an absolute Godsend. And, oh yes, occasionally I feel a little pinch when the needles go in, but the ouch is minimal. The decor is minimalist, but serene, and there is absolutely no clutter. The walls serve as a community gallery for local artists, and while the heating and cooling system provides the "white noise," I found myself able to adjust to both the background roar and the group setting with very little effort. I am able to doze off and sleep soundly for up to 45 minutes or an hour, despite her 15-minute time slots. Bottom line: pain and stress relief is now available to a wider range of clients. This is what I imagined the new health care law encouraging; great service at good prices. Receipts are available via email, and may be reimbursed via Flex-care and Health Savings Accounts--and insurance companies if you're fortunate enough to have that level of coverage. Acupuncture is a terrific adjunct to chemotherapy and other chronic pain problems, as it encourages the body to heal itself. I went for the first time today and had a great experience. It was my first time trying acupuncture and I'm nervous about needles, but insertion was a breeze and once they were in I couldn't feel them. The room is very simple but comfy, and there was only one other person there when I went. I really like the community model because it seems less intimidating that a private session - think pedicure vs full body massage :). Kim talked to me in the lobby about my health history and reasons for coming before we went into the treatment room to place the needles, so it was still a very personal experience. And I fell asleep - which is usually hard enough for me to do in my own bed in the dark! read more

Kim has helped me with a variety of ailments ranging from arthritis and athletic injuries to insomnia. The treatments vary in subtle ways and I'm always feeling better after getting "punked." I've been to a few community acupuncture places, but this one has provided the best pain relief thus far for my sprained hand. It is very peaceful in there & Kim is fantastic - it's just as good as one-on-one acupuncture (and in fact every session I've had has been private because I was the only one there). I generally prefer community/nonprofit acupuncture over private because I think the treatments are more aggressive & focused on providing relief vs. getting you back to follow up as a client. read more

I have gone to Revive off and on for years. The community acupuncture model makes it so I can actually afford to go to acupuncture. You pay $20 - $40 (your choice each time), get a nice chair in a room with others getting a treatment, and can stay as long as you like (or Kim will get you up at a specified time). I admit I was a bit hesitant about community acupuncture. I've tried several acupuncturists in New York, but I've had a hard time finding anyone in DC that is both affordable and good. I was pleasantly surprised by the treatment here. Kim was miles ahead of the last person I tried in DC in terms of knowledge, treatment, and comfort. This place is what it advertises to be in the reviews and pictures. It is sanitary, comfortable and easy to get to. However, the treatment here is a ripoff. Although the sliding scale attracted me initially, I feel as if Kim had my "unique" plan already photocopied out before the treatment. I think she is the type of person that is out to get people's money, people who are in chronic pain. With out any explanation or inquiry about if I thought the treatment worked well (as other reviewers certainly have exclaimed about), she handed me the treatment schedule that said I needed to come back several times a week for an effect to take place. As someone who carefully saved for simply the first treatment this came as a shock. I truly hope this treatment works well for others, but in my opinion, I came in a took a $25 nap with needles on the side that had pain. Not worth it. read more
