I could not recommend Thuy and Revive hair studio enough! He got me an appointment very last minute and when I came in he was very sweet and professional and got right to business. If you are looking for a hairdresser that doesn't chat the whole time and just lets you relax Thuy is your guy! My color and cut turned out gorgeous and he did it all under two hours! Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience I'm genuinely baffled by how this place has so many glowing reviews. I called to make a reservation and was given two options: 11:00 AM or 2:30 PM. I clearly chose 11:00 AM. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a highly dramatic individual at the front desk, who immediately turned around and loudly berated someone in the back. It was like watching a reality show unfold in real life. He came back and continued his dramatic performance, which made the whole situation incredibly uncomfortable. I decided to leave. When I called back to clarify what happened, the person on the phone was polite and apologetic. Unfortunately, the same front desk person could be heard in the background yelling about how I left upset. For what I thought was a professional business--especially considering they require you to fill out a profile--this was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever had. I highly suggest that management keeps the drama far from the front desk and ensures that employees remain professional at all times. read more

I don't understand how this place has so many good and glowing reviews... maybe I went on an off day, but this was the most painful and disgusting experience I've ever had, having my hair cut. Pros: not a bad haircut, asked for long layers in the back and shorter ones framing my face. Cons: - He said (idk who cut my hair bc he didn't even introduce himself so I don't know his name) he was cutting half an inch off, and ended up cutting ~4in off. Didn't even ask me if this was ok, he just did it. - TOOLS WERE NOT SANITIZED!! The brush used on me had a thick layer of hair from previous clients, and it was clear it hadn't been cleaned in forever. DISGUSTING! And such a health hazard! - the round brush he used when blow drying my hair had short, spiky whit hair all over it, that I thought he would clean before using it on me... once again, he did not. somebody else's hair just ended up on mine as he was blow drying. I did not see him sanitize scissors or comb either. - After he washed my hair, he squeezed the excess water out as if my hair was a rag. Literal twist and squeeze. He then proceeded to RUB my hair dry with the towel. Hello breakage and frizz! - THE PAIN when he brushed! My hair is very tangle prone because I have a lot of fine hair and it's curly, so I told him before hand that it is very difficult to brush. He did not properly brush out the tangles, he just tried to brush from the very top down, and when he encountered tangles, he just kept brushing and pulling down. He pulled so much hair off from the root! I tried to brush my hair myself (that's when I saw the disgusting hairbrush with a thick layer of hair from other people) but each time after that when he tried to brush or comb, it was painful. - He used NO product. I hope that at least the leave in conditioner had some heat protection, because no other product was used on me. No blow-out cream, no oil, nothing! - my hair looked so dry and stiff and just sad when I left. When you have curly hair, you have to properly blow dry it and need multiple passes with the round brush, so it doesn't look frizzy or dead, none of which he did. Again, not sure what was so off when I came in, but my experience did NOT match the posted reviews. read more

My boyfriend and I went in for a men's and women's haircut respectively. They did a fabulous job on us both. My boyfriend was particularly impressed; with his curly hair texture, it's very hard for him to get the cut that he wants, as most cut too much or barely anything at all. I was also really pleased. They don't talk your ear off during the process, but you can really feel the sincerity and dedication to the end product. This will definitely be our salon as long as we're in ATL. read more

Had a great experience with Thuy! I needed a fresh new look for the summer and found great reviews on Yelp for this salon, so I decided to take the risk and make an appointment. I can tend to be a spur of the moment person, so I called and Thuy was able to see me day of! How lucky was I? The place is super easy to find and there is plenty of parking. I was greeted in a friendly manner and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Some salons I've been to have been so snooty just upon entering the place, so I super appreciated the non- pretentious greetings from Jason and Thuy. I showed Thuy some pictures of the cut I wanted. Was going from long to short and he did exactly what I wanted! I've had short haircuts before, but no one has really been able to master the back of the cut for me, and he did. Needless to say, I was very pleased. Thuy was not pushy at all. He was incredibly kind and listened to what I wanted and you could tell he had had years of experience cutting hair and did an amazing cut and style. I even said oh wow, so you're a vet in the business and he said no, a legend! He has a great sense of humor accompanied with professionalism, it made for a perfect experience. I also appreciated he didn't chat my ear off. I tend to be pretty quiet in the chair and would prefer no small talk. So I super appreciate this too! I highly recommend either Thuy or Jason for a cut. I called a week in advance and was able to get an appointment for a Saturday morning. When I arrived Thuy was there ready to begin immediately. I just came in for a trim and a shampoo/blow dry, but I feel like he did a very thorough job. The conversation we had was also very interesting and he made me feel welcome in his salon even though it was my first time being there. The day I came was also a freak snow warning day in March, and when he was blow drying my hair we lost power for a little bit. It had been five months since my last haircut and I was a bit apprehensive to try a new place, especially since I had been with my last stylist for about 10 years. I'm glad I took a chance and tried this place out! I called for an appointment and was able to go in the next day, on a Friday at 1 pm. There was only one other customer and the chairs were spaced far from each other. Thuy was great. As other reviewers have noted, he really cares and takes the time to listen and make sure that you are happy with the outcome. He didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't ask for, and he did exactly what I asked - kept the length while trimming the ends, taking out the weight, and reshaping. This may sound strange but I also appreciated that he focused on his work and didn't try to make small talk. They run a special for 20% off if you are a new customer. I had seen it on their website but even better Thuy mentioned it as we were checking out. If you've been on the fence about trying a new salon, I highly recommend this one and you can't beat the discount for first timers. Also plenty of free parking out front. read more

I have super thin/fine hair and I came out of the salon feeling the most confident about it than I've felt in a while, and with exactly what I asked for. When it came time to get my first haircut here in Atlanta, I wasn't sure where to go. There are countless salons throughout Atlanta but many are expensive. Furthermore, I would rather not randomly walk into a salon and come out with a train wreck of a haircut! (I realize it would eventually grow out but that can be a long and embarrassing process.) Being the avid Yelper that I am, I naturally turned to Yelp to help me find a reasonably priced, well-reputed salon near where I live. Lo and behold, Revive Hair Studio came up! I called the salon and made an appointment for later that week. It was simple and easy. When I showed up for my appointment, Thuy and Jason immediately greeted me. Thuy took me to his station and asked what I wanted. I told him I was interested in highlights and a trim but was overall a neophyte and minimalist when it comes to hair so I didn't know exactly what I wanted other than I wanted it to look natural (and good obvi!). After looking at my hair (which is very fine, long, straight, and blonde), he had some suggestions that would work best for my hair type and what I was looking to do. I decided to take a leap of faith and go along with his suggestions. All I can say is Thuy did not steer me wrong! I love what he did with my hair and it turned out much better than I could have imagined. Not only did he do a good job, he was friendly, talkative, and fun! He charges a very reasonable price for all the work and time he took to do my hair. I would highly recommend going to Revive and Thuy to any of my friends! The salon itself is very neat and clean. I was there on a Saturday afternoon. The other lady there was getting her hair done by Jason and seemed to being having a good experience as well. The salon is in a strip mall with ample parking so no worries there! As a side note, they offer a variety of complementary refreshments from coffee/tea to wine! I thought this was a lovely touch and made for a relaxing and pleasant experience.
