Beware: what they quote, is not what they charge. I booked a simple single process gray root touch up. My stylist was actually fine and she did a decent job. It all broke down when I checked out with the clueless receptionist. The single process was $75 online and when I confirmed on the phone. When she rang me up, suddenly it was $85. When I asked why she said the following reasons: extra charge for more product (did not say which product), environmental charge and recycling hair charge. Naturally I asked more to understand what these random charges were as this has never happened to me in my over 25+ years of getting my hair done. She said 2.50 for the hair dye (again, how unprofessional, no salon ever has charged for more product); then the rest is some BS they put on a card board at the register for "environmental"...so they recycle my washed up hair (GROSS!) and charge me so they can be better to the enviornment?? The clueless receptionist was not able to explain further. I told her point blank this is NOT how you treat customers, you tell them up front what the service costs and that's how it works. If they want to tack on $10 add'l for nonsense charges, LET ME KNOW UP FRONT. This is the most ludicrous thing I have ever seen/heard. The charges continue. I went to tip and they use "tippy" so I got to pay an additional $3 or so just to tip my stylist! Unbelievable this place is!! To the manager of this store: this was my first visit to your salon. I was really hoping for a better experience since I am in search of a go-to salon. I go to the salon weekly. The check out process was just awful and it is not accpetable to charge your customers an extra $10 "just because" and never explain it. Very disappointing experience. read more

I called in one day and made an appointment to get a highlight service done. Unfortunately, I had to call in the very next day and switch it to just a haircut and a consultation. I wanted my bangs trimmed and to talk about what kind of blonde I wanted to do. They informed me that those two services would be free and wouldn't take much time at all. I of course, was still going to tip my hairstylist for doing so, but I got a call back a little later, saying that they wanted to move me because it would create a big gap in the stylist schedule. I informed them before and reminded them that I have work later, so I couldn't do it right before work. And at that moment, I was at the vet and the vet started to walk in the door so I had to go. The girl on the phone said she would just switch me to a different stylist and I just told her to go ahead and cancel altogether because it just didn't sit well with me that they wanted to do that. She seemed upset when we hung up but I called back after the vet appointment and left a voicemail saying that I had to hang up because of the vet and that I would be glad to talk about getting me with another stylist. They never called me back and I called again a few times, but it wasn't till I called using a friend's phone and they answered immediately that I realized they just weren't answering my phone call specifically. I don't know if this is just the receptionist or if the whole studio is like this, but that treatment is why I'm leaving this review. Absolutely loved my first experience so much, I came back for a second, and scheduled a third! Prices are a little higher for a level four stylist then I'm use to (haircut $70), but the shampooing and complimentary wine/coffee/water make it feel like a time at the spa. The receptionist rocking the pixie purple cut is always a doll, and Lean who does my hair is a talented level four artist! If you go to the salon upon referral, the referred person and guest are rewarded with either $20 off, or 50% off treatment- ask about the friends and family months, and please say I referred you! Buckle up for this review, it is a bit delayed in posting as I awaited confirmation from Chase that I was not getting charged for my visit. I am going to attach screenshots of my email if you care to read the nitty gritty details but spark notes version my hair was ruined and management was a nightmare. I'm going to preface this and say that I know we all have hair coloring experiences where we leave unhappy. I have had my fair share where the color just wasn't what I wanted. However, in every one of those experiences, despite the color not being exactly what I wanted for me, the technique was well executed. In this circumstance, my color wasn't just not what I wanted but SO poorly done. When I arrived my hair was pretty light so we discussed adding some low lights to get back closer to my natural but keeping the blonde framing my face. When my hair was blown dry, it turns out my hair was darker than it has ever been all around my face, blonde in the back and then one little blonde streak that started half way down my hair. The stylist realized I was unhappy so we went in to fix the front and I came out every color of the rainbow. I mean my hair went from brass orange to black to blonde. I left an absolute mess, cried for about an hour then called back when my friends told me I couldn't go back out in public. After eight hours a second visit to the salon, my hair was at a place I could go in public but still so far from okay. My scalp burned for days from the chemicals and I developed a rash, half my hair fell out and the front pieces are now broken and the length of bangs due to breakage. After this experience I have never felt more self conscious in my person. I was sad to go out in public and unfortunately couldn't even go elsewhere to fix it for months due to breakage. Despite all of this, I think my biggest disappointment as a customer was the lack of response from the owner. I emailed the salon owner the morning after my experience (Saturday) and explained from start to finish (see screenshots). Come Wednesday I still had no response. I then had to reach back out which once again went unanswered. I called the store front multiple times and was informed they had in fact read my email and it was being worked on. The email I ultimately received was a mere two sentences offering me a store refund less than the cost of the service and went without a signature of who was even answering me (as if I were ever going to revisit this store after having my hair ruined!!) At this point I was able to find the owner Jessica's personal number and called four times over two days only to once again go unanswered. Ultimately I ended up filing a dispute with Chase and received my money back. Bottom line: I cannot emphasize enough how disappointed I was in my overall experience and the utter lack of compassion, respect and customer service from management. However, I have now learned no matter how uncomfortable I feel, to never pay for a service that was not fulfilled. read more

Not sure how to review this place, I went here twice and the last time I went in for service, I got a single process and blowout. The blowout was actually good. When I called to rebook, I was told by a receptionist that my stylist "isn't comfortable working on my hair texture." Not even sure what that means and I'm also concerned about why it wasn't just directly discussed with me when I was there about why I would not be accepted at this salon due to my hair texture. Also no one ever called me back when I asked for further explanation of what that meant. The only challenges she seemed to experience doing my hair were more related to color (missing spots etc), not how she handled my hair. Every stylist I've been to does comment how my hair blows out easily despite being thick and curly, and she really seemingly had no issue with that part of it. Glad to have now found a new stylist elsewhere who accepts and embraces my "hair texture". read more

NOT FOR BLONDES. After going here a few times and trying two different stylists I have never been happy with the results. Although asking for a very light blonde I always came out with dark blonde hair with a strawberry blonde tint. They claimed they got rid of any brassiness however, I always came out looking like I had more brass in my hair than when I came in. Coming out of retirement for this gem. I've been a client here for years. I love the staff. I always get a great cut and color. The place is fantastic. BUT... lately, I've noticed some of the craziest things showing up. First, there are two mannequins that are "dressed up", but the "clothes" are made of HAIR. Wigs. Extensions. I get it - it's a salon. I expect some hair to be on the floor. But to put it on a mannequin is kitschy and makes me feel uncomfortable. Are you trying to be kitschy? I don't get it. This feels like 'Silence-of-the-Lambs-creepy', not 'high-end salon decor'. Next, in the ladies restroom are two pieces of "art". These pieces seem like someone was trying to make something modern and topical: it's hair or salon related images cut from magazines and glued to the canvasses and then splattered and/or smeared with paint. OK - art is in the eye of the beholder, but did you not think that a calming ocean scene would be better? Or maybe something abstract and calming from a local artist? It does not have to LITERALLY say "salon" on it to give you a salon feeling. And this art says 'failed elementary school art project', not 'high-end salon'. And lastly, the lipsticks. The what? In the changing room area is a side table between two drying chairs. It's great area for setting down your coffee/wine/purse while you dry, rest, sit, change... but now the drawer is hanging open... and filled with like 45 different tubes of lipstick? Are they USED?! Are they for other people to use?! Ew, herpes! Sephora at least provides alcohol wipes. Ew. So, I was nosy - I opened a few. They do NOT seem to be used - thankfully! But they are gross as hell. I hope no one uses them. They are covered with mold! The little white spots in the attached image are mold spots. It only takes about a year for lipstick to start growing mold, so we know they aren't VERY old... but still: WHY??? Why are old lipsticks in a drawer? Is this supposed to be decoration? I don't get this. At all. I can't fathom the reasoning behind this choice. It makes no sense. They don't do make overs here. They don't sell make up. I don't get it. I'm confused and disgusted. After touching them I feel like I need a shower, but have to settle with scrubbing my hands. So, the big takeaway: the salon is great. The staff is great. The services are great. But the decor has gotten weird lately: the person doing the decorating is obviously no professional decorator and is probably on drugs. They lied to you and need to be fired and replaced with an actual decorator: someone less delusional and kitschy, who understands the concept of modern under-stated upscale salon ambiance. read more

This place is great! They have good music and very talented stylists that are knowledge about the products of your hair. I was extremely impressed with know knowledgeable and up to date they are on hair styling techniques! Time slots do fill up quickly at this salon, so I recommend making an appointment in advanced and having some pictures for your stylist to go off of never hurts! My stylist was K.D and she is great! I recommend her to do your hair. She keeps you in the loop and listed to what you are looking to get done before she does anything to your hair. read more

I been going to Saidy for 6 years now. She turned my dark, damaged and long asian hair to blond. It is currently as healthy as blond asian hair can get. She makes sure that my blond never turns orangy like box hair dye. My hair has been trimmed long, layered short, bangs, undercut, blue, pink, and finally back to blond. A man (from the website looks like David?) went out of his way to be rude to my kids and to me. We left before even getting haircuts because he approached us a number of times in an unnecessarily rude manner. I've been coming to the Salon Red Brookhaven location for several years now - each time I have seen a new stylist and each time I have gotten a very different cut - but I have always left very happy. On my most recent visit, I saw Hillary - my appointment was the first one on Saturday morning at 8:15 AM. Hillary was already there when I arrived and I didn't have to wait at all to see her. I was going from long hair to a very short style, which I know can make some stylists nervous. I showed her a picture of what I was going for, she did a full assessment on my hair and what would look best and got right to work. Throughout the cut she continuously asked for my input and opinion - as she was working we talked out options for my hair so that I got the best cut for my face and was happy with the end result. She kept up pleasant conversation while she was styling my hair and overall the experience was superb. I had never seen Hillary before, but I was blown away with the final product - she nailed exactly what I was looking for and I have gotten tons of compliments. I will be back to see Hillary in the future! The salon has a great environment, it is warm and laid back, unlike a lot of salons where you walk in and feel out of place. There is a great seating area with coffee, water and drinks available. The location is easy to access and is convenient if you have shopping to do before/after your appointment. If you are looking for a salon with friendly and experienced stylists, reasonable pricing and a great atmosphere, look no further! read more

I guess I can start from the moment I got there. The atmosphere of the whole salon is great. It has a rustic modern feel to it and it's very girlie. Everyone is overly nice. The products used were alright. They made my hair feel soft for that day. So. What I had a problem with wasn't my stylist, because she was sweet, but it was more of the technique and approach to what I had asked for. I had went in for a balayage color and cut. I was seen by the level 2 stylist Hillary. Right when she sat me down and looked at my hair and I had shown her the picture I had wanted, she had told me that it wouldn't come out exactly like the picture. I know that it wouldn't be exact but I was expecting at least some kind of a difference than what I came in with. I had blonde highlights from a year ago that had grown out so it already looked like a balayage. I do have a medium brown natural color in my roots so that's why she had mentioned that it wouldn't get as light as I wanted it but it seems like all she did was fix the semi harsh line from the highlights. The ends didn't even look lightened at all, and the balayage looked a little streaky. When she had styled it after all was done, i was taken back a little because I had spent $200 (I was referred by someone so I got $20 off) on hair that I thought I had already. I just feel like I just went in to ruin my hair with dye and get no change. My appointment was on Valentine's Day so I was expecting to surprise my boyfriend with something completely different but he didn't even notice I got my hair done. He had actually asked me, so when is your hair appointment?? Not thrilled about my hair experience, but the actual salon is nice. So if you're just about atmosphere, this place is for you. If you want little to no change, this place is for you. If you want somewhat of a change, I would suggest going somewhere else. My search for a good salon/stylist is back on... read more

First of all, let me start off by saying that they have the BEST hair washing chairs in Atlanta! It's like laying on a little bed while somebody is washing your hair. No complaints here! I mean you are literally horizontal. :) The salon itself is really laid back and everyone is extremely friendly. Gage was my choice of stylist because a few weeks back he gave me a ten minute hair style at an event that blew me away...no pun intended :) Really though, he's fantastic! Great personality, a nice edge and a magician with shears. I have curly hair that doesn't approve of the christmas tree look so I am allowed to give my professional opinion. Ha! The salon is tidy, the chairs are comfy and the TV above the hair wash bowls is BRILLIANT while you're waiting for some color melts/toner/etc to process. Melissa was an amazing stylist! She really listened and explained the process we needed to go through to achieve my desired color. The stylists here do an amazing job though, they listen to your needs and offer tips and solutions to all your hair problems. I have never come out with a bad cut. First time as Salon Red today. Usually I end up going to places like Great Clips but barely walked away having a good experience. The experience here was actually fantastic! I had my hair cut by Jenny and it was possibly the first hair cut I've enjoyed from start to finish. She was incredibly friendly and her attitude and ability to listen to what I wanted made me feel very at ease. The atmosphere is great. The hair wash stations are super comfortable. I think one's experience with a salon is largely reflective of one's stylist, and I've always had a good experience with Stephanie at Salon Red. The salon itself is new and nice. They have a comfortable seating area with pitchers of water if you have to wait. The sinks for washing customers' hair are new and comfortable. The windows allow in lots of light. Stephanie has given me a good haircut every time. I never have a problem getting in to see her, and I can only remember having a significant wait past my appointment time once. Parking is also pretty easy, and there are a lot of good options for lunch around there. read more
